  1. I have loved the strategic command series from Battlefront having SC1 SC2 and WaW.

I bought this game and had many crashes. Tried everything in the online support section. Still random lockups. I submitted a support ticket two weeks ago along with the log file requested.

I got 1 follow-up email asking if it was a lockup or CTD. I repeated that it was system lockup. A week and a half later still no word. It is sad, when I had a registration key problem with SC2 the support was awsome. I have never had a tech issue before with a Battlefront game before, but it doesn't seem that tech support is resourced at a level to really provide support to the customers who have difficulty. It will make me more cautious about choosing Battlefront products outside the SC line again.

George, sorry to hear you have troubles with TOW. Tech support is usually carried out by several people, including the developer that has made the game. Response times therefore may vary. Easy things are handled by our regular stuff within 24 hours, more complex stuff may take longer to get a response from the core team.

Having said that: have you already logged in online to the www.battlefront.com/helpdesk to check for a reply? The email may have bounced or been rejected by your server. If you don't hear back within 48 hours it's usually a good idea to check for your ticket status online. I bet the reply is sitting there for a week already.

  2. Hmmm... This game even installs background processes without asking user for permission. Seriously, this is going way too far, bug ridden game installing unauthorized back ground stuff... Uninstalled on both computers.

How can I remove all stuff associated with eLicense? I have no idea where those files went during installation.

www.battlefront.com/helpdesk has a Knowledge Base with entries on how to remove eLicense. It's not installed without your permission - you agree to it by installing the game as per the End User License Agreement.

  3. I assume the AI will be able to handle a map like that if we paint one up in the editor?

Oh yes... one of our testers has made custom maps of Europe (among others) with large continental landmasses. The AI can handle them just fine. (If you think about it, amphibious strategies are far more complex to code for than pure landmasses).

  4. You will SOON be able to check out the entire list in the game itself via the beta demo.

To be honest, I've tried to put together a list for the web but it's too damn big with all the various research options that there are. You can get a glimpse of this from some of the screenshots posted, but really the best reference will be the full manual/help file that's included in the game (and demo) itself.

  5. Wow, this looks more unbalanced towards the RT side than I thought.

To balance it out some: I play WeGo mostly. I compensate for the slower reaction time by, well, taking things slower. Combat isn't a race. It is perfectly ok to let units sit in place for some time before moving them. This happens in real life all the time.

Playing in WeGo feels more realistic in the way that time passes, actually. It takes longer to achieve the same objectives as in RT mode but the time it takes seem more realistic to me. RT is way too fast, and if there was a full-game replay feature in CMSF it would really highlight how unrealistic it is I suspect.

I like WeGo also because I do not like to micromanage at all. The TacAI is making all the little decisions it needs to do usually pretty well. Including the stupid mistakes it makes from time to time, it does feel realistic, too.
