  1. Another problem (and the main reason for the lack of PBEM from what I recall) is that the average EOS game will have A TON OF TURNS. 100-200 turns and more is not unusual. So if you would process one turn a day... well, you do the math.

In testing we found that multiple one-hour sessions are the best way to go. You can play a few dozen turns that way, then pick up another day. It's like PBEM, just better :)

  2. You can have your key active on up to two PCs at the same time. This is true for all of our games, regardless of which title you have, because eLicense is enforcing our End User License Agreement (EULA), which is the same for all games, as well.

  3. It should go into your game directory I would think. If you can't find the save games, usually this is due to not running the game with full administrator rights. See if it helps if you right-click on the game exe, select Properties, and check "Run as administrator".

  4. Hi Lauter,

sorry to hear this. I assume that you have opened a support ticket already? If so, I'll be able to check your key shortly.

On the labels we print, there is a visible difference between 1 and I and O and 0: for example, the zero is crossed out. In order to make this more clear, we have recently (well, for a few months) also added all four of these on the label, to show you the difference. If you purchased TOW2, perhaps you still got one of the older labels where this is not the case.

Anyway, I'll get back to you through your ticket.

  5. If there is one technical aspect of the game I would like to see improved it is the installation/uninstallation routine.

Improvements have been made, starting with the v1.21 patch. We had to learn a few things on the go as to how to make things work correctly for the innovative Modules concept that CMSF comes with.

But what really makes things more complicated also is that the patches and/or Modules are meant to work with any version of the base game out there, and thare are MANY. This makes it impossible to say for sure where to install the patch, because we have not made all of the installers out there, so we cannot rely on things like registry entries etc. Therefore, a certain amount of doublechecking is required from the user himself to make sure things are installing in the right place, unfortunately.

  6. Does it matter what the install path is? I accepted the default path on install and it appears it put the game under c:\Program Files (x86) rather than c:\Program Files.

Oops, just saw your second post now. Yes, it does matter what path is chosen :) If you install into the wrong location, it won't work.

The installer is trying to find the correct path for you. But it's impossible to do this with 100% certainty, especially if you have a version of the base game that is not bought from us. So yes, you should definitely doublecheck if the installation path matches where the games and previous patches have been installed.

  7. Ruthless, from what you write, I would suspect that you have selected an incorrect path for the patch installation. Make sure that when you install, the path that is entered for the installation matches where your base game and modules are. If you patch into a wrong folder/path, then what you describe is one of the symptoms you may see.

As tedious as this may be, your best bet probably is a reinstall. But first, make sure you uninstall completely.

  8. Sorry to hear that, but the game can do no such thing. Not even the worst possible scenario that can happen during installation can have this kind of effect, because the installer is not changing or even touching any of the Windows core functions. I'm afraid we won't be able to help you with your two PCs, but of course if you require support for getting your game installed once you have your PCs up and running, you can use the www.battlefront.com/helpdesk and we'll be glad to help.

  9. Yes, the mode of game play did not change from TOW2 : Africa to TOW2: Kursk. As the title implies, it's largely the same base engine at work, albeit with many new features and a whole bunch of improvements, too. So you can play RT (with auto-pauses etc.) as with the previous title, but not turn-based in the classic sense.

What preference someone has obviously is a matter of taste. I am not fond of RT myself, but I find that TOW gives a fairly good balance between real-time action and the ability to pause (or to adjust the game speed) for myself.

  10. This is a so-called "false positive". Zone Alarm is "guessing" at what may be a virus, and is reporting one although there isn't one. Most AV programs allow you to set exceptions for files and folders. Please read the ZA manual on how to do it to leave the CMAK.exe or better the entire folder alone. You may also want to email the ZA people and tell them about this "false positive". They should be able to tweak their virus definitions to avoid having this happen in the future (or at least for a while).

  11. It's not working because when you ran the patch you didn't select the proper Components to update. Please re-run the patch, and select the correct components you want to update (in your case, this seems to be "Update CMSF + Marines + British Forces"). Once you do that, you will not need to re-license anything (a correctly installed patch never will ask you to relicense).

  12. www.battlefront.com

Log in to the account (email) you used for the purchase, then click on "My Account" from the top menu. It will show you all your orders placed with that account. Open the one for British Forces, and click on the game title. This will bring you to the game download page.

Alternatively, you can click on Download->Customer downloads after logging in, and enter your license key.

This will only work if your download didn't expire yet. Downloads expire after 365 days automatically (or after 10 downloads). Make a backup copy of the setup file after downloading so you can re-load the game in the future, because you will not be able to re-download once the download period expires.

  13. Pips, the Battlefront release is v1.1 and is not using any of the Australian localization. We have created a completely new localized version off of the Russian originals. The Australian localization was... well, not very good :)

Since it's v1.1 that we are releasing internationally, it also comes with other bug fixes and improvements that were not in the original Russian (or Australian) release.

  14. If I buy this now (or going forward) will the version I get be the latest, or will I have to also download the patch(es)? Not that it matters much I guess, as the support seems really good and turnaround time on new patches rather rapid :)

You will have to run the in-game updater to get up to speed on the latest version.
