  1. No, you do not need to log in in order to buy for the first time. When you place an order, an account is automatically created for you (and you are logged in automatically as well). For future orders, if you want to use the same account (which is a good idea), you need to log in.

The forum is completely independent of the main site/store. You do not need a forum account to buy.

More questions about buying from Battlefront are in our Knowledgebase at www.battlefront.com/helpdesk. Really, pretty much ANY question you can think of is answered there :)

  2. I have a order ID # and a hyphen one a few lines down starting with a rc24- ....would this be the CMSF base game lic #?

No. As explained in the Knowledgebase, license keys are 32 or 15 digits. What you are referring to is a random crypt key that is not relevant for you.

Your Marines key, if you downloaded it, is saved in your customer account, as I mentioned above.

  3. Also, since Oct 1, 2007 all keys for downloadable product (i.e. if you ordered "Download only" or "Download & Mail" deliveries, or a "Pre-order" - which is the latter by default) are saved in your customer account. Log in at www.battlefront.com/store, click on "My Account" that appears in the top menu.

If you forgot your login, go to www.battlefront.com/lostpw to retrieve it. You get a new random password and your Username is in the same email, called "User account". Enter it EXACTLY as shown.

  4. All enemy units, including dead units, are subject to "fog of war". They are only visible to you when your soldiers can see them. It does not matter where you camera is positioned. The fact that they pop in and out has nothing to do with the rotation of your camera most likely, but with the movement of your soldiers.

  5. First off, welcome :)

Others will be here to answer in more detail, but the VERY first thing you should do is download the latest patch(es). Depending on what version of the game you got, you may have to first upgrade to 1.10 (and if you have QB problems, then it seems like you'll have to) and then to 1.21.

  6. Akella has made a statement about the mission editor recently in an interview in french magazine Cyberstratege. I don't think it's posted yet so I am not at a liberty to quote, but in short: they are working on it.

  7. No need to reinstall anything. Reinstalling should always be your last option. Options are available from within the game and from what I recall what you get in the game's Options screen is exactly the same thing that you get when you run options.exe (I may be wrong though).

Again, the main way to get help is via the www.battlefront.com/helpdesk. If you've already posted a ticket there, then you're in good (Ian's) hands.

  8. There is no need to re-download. The program is fine, but your PC is blocking the execution. Setting it to execute as "Run as administrator" usually does the trick. The error you mentioned initially is a strong indicator that this is what is failing. Unfortunately the reporting by User Access Control is lacking.

Please check in your C:\Windows folder? Do you see a file called runservice.exe there? If not, then please submit a ticket at www.battlefront.com/helpdesk, if you haven't done so already. We can send you the file and you can try manually copying it into your Windows folder.

  9. The hotfix only applies to the Marines game, because it only updates the Marines campaign. Hence it's only mentioned on the Marines page.

The v1.21 applies to ANYONE, regardless of what modules they have. They all download the same patch, and the hotfix is applied for anyone whose "Components Update" selection includes Marines. You can take my word for it (however, make sure that you download from one of the links from www.battlefront.com/patches; not all outside mirrors may have been updated).

  10. No demo nor full version of our games would ever be able to do anything like this, PTBT. They have no access at all to your Windows logins or accounts. That's by design and the reason why some users have to manually set the game to execute as "Run as admin", in fact.

  11. Some general answers:

When installing ANY software, this is Windows default behavior. Whenever you run something with the name "Setup" or "Install" in it, Windows actually accesses admin privileges in the background. Your "normal" User account has those privileges, usually.

In addition to that, our games require the full administrator rights FOR THE FIRST TIME YOU LAUNCH them, because of our copyright protection, eLicense. This is needed only once, however.

Lastly, some games require administrator rights as well for things like saving games etc. due to how Vista and Windows 7 have implemented certain self-imposed limits and standards for saving files (such as save game files), which broke compatibility with games which were not originally designed with Vista or W7 in mind.

    Hope this helps.

  12. The SC2 expansions Weapons and Warfare and Patton Drives East will not work with any other version of the base game than the original Battlefront version. For those, you'd need to buy the base game, indeed. We offer a discount for that. Please submit a support ticket at www.battlefront.com/helpdesk if you'd like that.

SC WW2 Pacific Theater (and the upcoming Global Conflict game) are not expansions, but standalone games, and do not require SC2 Blitzkrieg at all.
