  1. You should download the demo (www.battlefront.com/demos) and try it for yourself. Many 64 bit systems DO WORK (as mentioned in the system requirements). Some don't. The best way to find out if yours does is to try the demo.

Oh, btw... South Gambit was just released today :) I don't have the word yet if there will be a new demo for that or not, though, but you can always try the PT Boats demo (if that works, then SG will work, too).

  2. If you get the problem in the demo, then this indicates something else entirely than the usual issues with licensing (because the demo does not use licensing). As such, the DEP settings or DEP or firewalls will not solve the issue most likely, because they are not the problem. Seems to me to be some kind of hardware of driver problem (most likely), or (less likely) installation issue (wrong path), or incompatible mods or hotkeys.txt file.

  3. From Charles:

    Not a bug.

I don't have that scenario so I couldn't do the exact test, but I set up a similar one and Iron visual C2 was working correctly.

The "test" for visual C2 is more stringent in Iron than in Elite. In Elite, all friendlies are assumed to "easily and immediately see" all friendlies unless there is a really obvious reason that should not be the case (like a big wall between them). It's as forgiving and easy a test as you can imagine.

The "iron" test for visual C2 is more "real". It actually makes the HQ and the subordinate unit "spot" each other. Just having clear LOS is not enough. You need to succeed in spotting, and it must be mutual - HQ must spot subordinate and subordinate must spot HQ. And spotting is not 100% certain to succeed even with clear LOS. Dim light, smoke, haze, being under fire/distracted by combat, morale, angle off your forward vision, poor quality troops -- there are lots of reasons you could fail to spot someone. And sometimes it just takes a little time. The spotting eventually succeeds but not immediately. And that's all that's happening in his example.

  4. What Vanir said. Additionally, our main site has never been working properly with IE6 due to a bug in IE6 with handling transparent image (PNG) files. We have been blocking certain IE6 browser versions for some time now. There are plenty of free upgrade choices (IE7 or 8, even 9 beta is public now), and other free browser options (firefox, opera etc.) so there is no reason to be using IE6, at all.

BTW, Windows versions and IE versions have nothing to do with each other. I have been running XP on one of mine with IE7, no problems (although admittedly, there are many bugs in IE8 with anything else but Vista or newer)

  5. We have an extensive Knowledgebase about the Repository (and a lot of other stuff) at www.battlefront.com/helpdesk. There is a link to it from the Repository page (plus a random article is shown when the page loads).

To answer your question: the Repository requires a main site/store login. Your forum login won't work there. There is a link to register an account or retrieve a new password (and your username) on the Repository page (upper left hand corner). For your convenience, here is the link to retrieve the login for the main site/repository/store: http://www.battlefront.com/lostpw
