xian
Surely this can't be right. I can never purchase a bunker in QB game? (Mac v1.0.1)
panzermartin
Is this a meeting engagment?
xian
No - an H2H attack QB The funny thing is that I thought this was something that was fixed in 1.0.1???
Cogust
That rarity is for the US and their bunkers should be kinda rare, the German bunkers are more affordable at 243 rarity per bunker (1215 for five). If you want bunkers for the US in quick battles you'll have to play with rairty off.
MikeyD
To all intents and purposes US bunkers, especially MG concrete bunkers, simply didn't exist. I doubt even thrown-together US wood bunkers existed in Normandy. I don't know if we even bothered to move into those few coastal bunkers that dotted the Normandy coast.
xian
Sure - I understand they are very rare for US forces, but for gaming purposes one might suppose they used an old French or German bunker. A rarity of 10000 might be reasonable, but 1/2 million??
YankeeDog
Since the purposes of the Rarity system is to encourage realistic force choices, it makes sense to me to effectively prohibit U.S. purchases of bunkers for Normandy. I don't know of a single incident of U.S. forces using them in Normandy. If you want to play something ahistorical, where the U.S. has access to bunkers, just turn rarity off.
xian
Okay - perhaps it was BFC's way of saying US bunkers are 'FORBIDDEN' in a QB environment.
Cogust
Unless you turn rarity OFF that is...
StellarRat
It makes sense. You don't build bunkers when your always on the offensive.
Thomm
Okay, something isn't quite right about this. Bug report is underway. Best regards, Thomm
Battlefront.com
Sure - I understand they are very rare for US forces, but for gaming purposes one might suppose they used an old French or German bunker. A bunker facing the wrong direction is pretty much useless So no, it could not be supposed that abandoned German fortifications would be much use. Old French fortifications from 1940 would be useless because either they were destroyed, overgrown (i.e. no fields of fire), or most likely not in a position that matters. Plus, you'd have to go pretty much to the German border before you found much in the way of French fortifications. In 1940 they didn't expect to be overrun so they didn't have fortifications of any significance except on the border. The pace of the German advance precluded even ad-hoc defenses except in isolated areas. Steve
xian
Fair Point. I'll just crawl back into my bunker (facing the wrong way)
