MikeyD
Though this picture's been circulating I just stumbled cross it this afternoon. It purports to show a U.S. soldier in France carrying a Stg44... and wearing 1970s-style goatee and sideburns! It looks like a snapshot of a not-very-competent reenactor but the picture is genuine, said to be taken in the vicinity of Chateau Salin, France 11/13/44. the guy - named Sgt. Oakly Ruth - is wearing a tanker's overalls. I assume the Stg44 is just a trophy being used as prop. I do have to chuckle. Imagine the horrified reaction of WWII grogs who have been known to count the number of shoelace holes in combat shoes if BFC decided to give all its U.S. soldiers goatees!
Pvt. Ryan
I think we should consider ourselves fortunate if there are cowees.

Michael Emrys
I suspect that the pic is legit, but it's odd that he is wearing a bandolier even though he doesn't have a standard ammo belt. As a tanker, he would indeed not normally have an ammo belt, but then why a bandolier? Maybe that's how he carries his smokes. Gromit
I think I saw this photo elsewhere and it mentioned that it was a pre-posed shot, so the oddball (pun intended ) equipment, etc. wouldn't be that unusual. There were some fairly dirtball newspaper photographers in the ETO from my readings and whatnot.
