John Kettler
Found this while doing some research and thought some of you would appreciate it, though maybe not the music! http://www.metacafe.com/watch/259198/iraq_movie_british_army/ Regards, John Kettler
John Kettler
This one's full of goodies and, IMO, has better music! http://www.metacafe.com/watch/yt-fd5TrhcmSHI/british_army_infantry_video/ Regards, John Kettler

John Kettler
MeatEtr, Most of the music gave me a headache, and I didn't particularly care for the one you named, either. This vid, though, was a real gem and should be a valuable resource for the modders. Regards, John Kettler
John Kettler
Here's the first of a great 5-part series covering the Royal Irish Regiment in combat. Not only is it a great series, but the parallel drawn between British experience in Afghanistan in the face of official optimism and American experience in Nam is downright striking. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhjP-VQcyoU&feature=related Note particularly the difference between American and British capabilities when it comes to resupply, reinforcements and casevac. Scenario designers would do well to bear such matters in mind when creating British scenarios. Regards, John Kettler
John Kettler
Jackal fans, prepare to die!!! The Jackal's combat debut with Pathfinder Platoon has some of the best combat sequences I've ever seen in a stellar look at men at war--with foe and their own mounts alike. Part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uKwpPGgfEQ&feature=related Part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyNJqq0MxzM&feature=related Part 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvB6NdlCnIs&feature=related Part 4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4ygXH5bx9E&feature=related Part 5 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqqzndDWOvE&feature=related Regards, John Kettler
Wiggum
Wow, great...i never saw Jackal's in combat before ! I never expected that they take a firefight standing in the open against a unknown enemy force, respect. But can someone explain why they dont call a CH-53/CH-47 do get this broken Jackal out there ?
flamingknives
Because we don't have CH-53s and we don't have enough CH-47s to waste lugging vehicles out of hot zones.
Cpl Steiner
Because we don't have CH-53s and we don't have enough CH-47s to waste lugging vehicles out of hot zones. Last time I checked the Brits only had about 10 Chinooks in the whole of Afghanistan. It makes me laugh when the British government say the army has enough equipment and helicopters to do the job. Who do they think they are kidding.

Wicky
The Patherfinder video series were posted originally by Adam in May http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=86057 I remember it as they end up back in the UK having a beer in my local!
Paper Tiger
Wow! Some great links there. Very inspiring from a scenario design point of view. Just out of curiousity, CMSF is the only game that features the Jackal, isn't it? Probably the only one that has Brit forces as well I guess. The models for the module are exquisitely detailed and combined with the way the game models dust hanging in the air and shots falling short kicking up dust, I feel like I've already seen this 'in-game'.
John Kettler
Wiggum, Happy to help! Was blown away myself. Wicky, And a fine thread it is, one I somehow missed! Besides, I got to learn about the Praying Mantis, an AFV I'd never heard of before. Other Means, Do you have a link for the right one, please? Cpl Steiner, I believe it's actually eight, this from a Chinook pilot doc I saw on YouTube. flamingknives, Good point! Paper Tiger, Glad you're enjoying them! As for your question, I'd say it's almost certainly true for computer wargames, but maybe not for FPS and similar. To me, if a game of that type already exists in which you can use a ZSU-57/2 (believe it's Mercenaries), a Jackal's no stretch at all.
