TomBombadil711
Hi all! I am a total computer idiot and would like to know, whether the game will run on my system or not. As far as I know all requirements will be met, but I am not sure about the graphic card. As far as I know it is a Samsung SyncMaster 755DF(T) with nVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200. Can anyone help me please? Thanks in advance! Tom
BigJ62
I'm guessing no.
ParaBellum
From the orders page, minimum system requirements: "GeForce 5700 or Radeon 9600" The GF4200 TI is a 5 year old card that wasn't top of the line even back then. Do not expect it to run a modern PC game with demanding 3d-grafics well.
Schrullenhaft
I believe a GeForce 4 Ti 4200 may be a bit "long in the tooth" to sufficiently run CMSF, though it was a fairly excellent videocard in its day. The GeForce 4200 is a DirectX 8.x hardware capable card, which somewhat translates into OpenGL 1.5 capable. I believe a DirectX 9.x / OpenGL 2.0 capable videocard is what is needed for CMSF. I haven't personally tested this out to definitely say what videocard hardware will NOT work with CMSF. With the older videocards I assume some shadows may not work, among other things. I'll have to take a look with a GeForce 4 Ti 4600 (a slightly faster version of the 4200) in the near future and see how CMSF behaves with that. Even if it does work, it may be a bit slow to really run CMSF satisfactorily. The maps and units in CMSF can often slow down even much more powerful videocards.
Sergei
Just wait for the demo, that should give you a precise answer.
TomBombadil711
Thanks! That's what I have feared :-( Can you recommend a graphic card for a low budget that will do it? Thanks in advance again!
