Buffalo and Nyala Vshaped anti IED vehicles.

Recommended Posts

Looks like the Vshaped hull vehicles, with better survival chances to mines and explosive devices are arriving to Iraq and Afghanistan in crescent numbers.

It would be nice to see them in CM.SF in a later add-on, It would be a change to the HUMVEE.

The vehicles arriving to the front line are the big BUFFALO

From the same company the smaller Cougar

And the smaller size (kind of a hummvee) south african Nyala

I think they are in fact using all tree models. Check the links, some orders have been delivered and are in use for a while, more orders on their way.

Mostly they are used by anti IED units i supose.

You mean three I assume? What I mean is that I presume the US Army has purchased them, but they will not be in the initial game. They could be added in the modules, but the first two modules are for the US Marines and the British Army, niether of which (I'm guessing) have them. What I'm hoping for is the possibility that we might get a couple more new US army vehicle in the modules even though they are not centered on the US Army.

Three eheh, but i bet your portuguese is much worst than my english.

In the cougar link they say the british got 100 cougars.

In the buffalo link they say the marine corps is awaiting a batch os Cougars and Buffalo.

But the three models are in use by the military in Iraq.

I always forget that the different military branches of US forces are almost independent countries on their own.

For me the Stryker brigade and the USMC are both US forces, army, navy , wathever.

These vehicles have actually been in Iraq for a while now, over a year I think. The EOD teams just love them. The downside is the are still only mine resistant, and they are still just as vulnerable to EFP attacks as any other vehicle. They should defiantly be included in the Marine modual, since they have put in to purchase at least 3000 more of there favorite flavor.

I am sorry if this sounds dumb, but where is their V shape ? Seen the photos included in the articles, I couldn't figure out which section had a v-shape.

The bottom of the hull or chassis, it resembles a v, like a boat, but the weels and other apendices make it hard to notice.

It is suposed to deflect the blast of the mine away from the vehicle.

In the Nyala link look at the pic with a nyala with a wheel blown off.Voilá, there it is, but all of them have a V shaped hull below the crew compartment.

Does it come with reactive armour and air conditioning, or only open top coupe version available. :D

It's the cavalry - the eyes and donkey ears of military. It may not kick ass, but the ass kicks!

  • 2 weeks later...

I hope it wasn´t.

The only thing they show that was disabled for sure was a good old humvee.

They certainly have more chances than inside a uparmored humvee. The humvee wasn´t designed to sustain light weapons fire, and certainly not explosive attacks.

Of course if the IED is big enough... it can kill anything.

But i would like to see these new class of vehicles in a add on to Shock Force, as they are taking a major role in daily operations.

I agree. I think they are buying more humvees.

It is a good utility vehicle, cheap and rugged.

For many years from now, the option is ride a humvee or walk.

Some of us (me included) were spoiled by the amount of toys we got in the CM1 games. I know Battlefront is limiting things in CMX2 but I'm hoping if you include modules we'll get some uncommon vehicles to play with such as these.
