M1A1TC
A question about how the unit patches are handled in the game. Is it a separate graphic, so if someone creates their own scenario, they can just select a unit from a list, and program puts that unit patch on soldiers, or do I have to mod the uniform myself for everyone? I would like to be able to have units with different patches on same map. Is it possible, or will they all have the same one. If they do, what patch? 2nd ID? Also, I already posted about this before, but I would really like to see more variety of equipment on soldier models. You have that for vehicles, why not soldiers? It can be few diffirent variarions, picked at random For example 1. Goggles a. on top of kevlar b. on top of kevlar with cover c. soldier wears goggles d. soldier wears standard issue brown glasses 2. Plastic handcuffs a. Not shown b. stowed on the right side c. stowed on the left side 3. Rank a. Sgt b. Spc c. PFC If all my troops look identical, like some mannekins or stormtroopers, I dont really care if I lose a few. Also, is the Land Warrior stuff in the game? Battlefront.com
We aren't sure if we can include unit patches at all Federal law prohibits us from using their likeness without specific, written permission from the Heraldry people at the DoD. As I've said the last two or three times you asked this question , there will be different loadouts for different types of soldiers. They will not all look identical. However, due to the soldiers being animations vs. vehicles there is a limit as to how far we can take it. Randomly putting stuff on is probably not something we're going to be able to do. That means all Greandiers will have the same equipment as each other, all Riflemen the same equipment as each other, etc. Face textures, and possibly even the 3D facial structure, will be randomly assigned. Limited amount of Land Warrior stuff in the game. I'm still trying to figure out which components are actually cleared for production and issue. I know what ones were tested this past summer, the largest test done yet, but I am sure some of these things are not going into the field "as is", which means they might be delayed quite a bit of time. I also figured out the new names. Stryker Warrior is for the dismounts, Mounted Warrior is for the vehicle crews. Similar system, but not identical. PLM2
Crazy that they wont let you use unit patches. How come you'll see some patches (like Screaming Eagles) in games based on the past when the patches were the same as now? I was just issued a bunch of new **** last wednesday. But then Im in an Air Defence unit so I dont know thats what you want. But I'm pretty sure everyones getting the new first advanced first aid kit. Which just looks like one of the ACU 6 magazine holders but smaller. But maybe this isnt a new thing. I wouldnt know but everyones got one and its got a lot of nifty **** in it, yo
Michael Dorosh
I was going to laugh at the water bottle ("canteen", as you call it down there), but after several looks at the thread, it strikes me that you wisely have included it for scale rather than bragging about having one. Your first aid kit looks a bit like our sewing kits...cool picture though. Would be neat to see it in use in game.
PLM2
rofl. I dont really use those anymore unless its on some packing list. Camelbaks are superior. If only they never broke but replacement reservoirs are (supposed to be) available since they're issued. I figured i'd put it next to something else that you generally see on soldiers and really only comes in one size. Even if they're not in the game, the canteen seemed like better than a dollar bill. Its also got a nifty ready-made tourniquet. Its hard to believe people ever didnt have this **** readily available. Just imagine how many people would still be alive from previous conflicts. FRom what I understand they've got some powder that causes a clot to stop bleeding when applied to a wound.
M1A1TC
The powder is called QuickClot, link here QuickClot I also read a true story about a tampon, stuffed in a femoral artery in Iraq, saving a soldier's life Will the soldiers in game short-stock their rifles when indoors, or when needed? Battlefront.com
The deal with unit insignia is that they can't be currently in use by active military formations. We haven't bothered to go through the red tape to see if we can use any current unit insignia or not. Regardless, modders can change that in about 5 minutes since all textures are modable Steve
