Stop Attacking Battlefront

Recommended Posts

If nothing else, before posting the same negative things over and over. PLEASE THINK of the DAMAGE you are DOING to our hobby! IMHO Battlefront always fixed their problems and they always will. So give them some slack. Who will replace them? COH types of games? They are good for the eight hours until completion. I will be playing CMSF for a long time, just like CMBO, CMBB and CMAK. So Wargamers, think about our hobby and the BEST independent wargaming company around.Last but not least, think what we will lose if we lose them.

Our posts here aren't likely to change anything in the rest of the world.

Customer-agnostic release / update strategies and poor reviews might, though.

If BFC has problems they are creating them. You can't save wargaming companies from themselves, whether they're the only game in town or not. Wargaming companies have always been a dying breed, even in the heyday of paper gaming.

Hi Phil

I dont agree, many people, on this site like the game. If you look thru the different Topics you will see the same people saying the same negative things over and over again. IMHO CMSF,will be a 8 or 9 very soon. As far as updates 4 in 2 months is fine. Also remember, many reviewers get their info from gaming sites. I never said dont complain. But please not over and over again

I made my mind up to pass on CM:SF from playing the Demo and reading the posts here on the Forum. I am glad that BFC provides us with a place to discuss their games/products. When the posts start to say the game is working I.E. Pathfinding, LOS/LOF, Infantry model I will very likely reconsider and make a purchase. Until then I want to read The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. At this point in time Steve has pretty much said (on this Forum) CM:SF is about where he thinks it should be...I for one am disappointed that I will have to wait longer for A/the new game I have been waiting so long for. However I do appreciate the Forum letting me know so that I did not waste my money at the present time.

Hmmm. Just as an exercise, let's address your post point-for-point:

1) I did not address my opinion regarding the general feeling toward the game.

2) I've been through the topics. I've even posted in a few myself. I've found that when BFC addresses a particular issue, fewer negative things get posted about it.

3) CM:SF won't ever be an 8 or a 9. BFC by all appearances has no intention of finishing CM:SF. *CMx2* will eventually be an 8 or a 9.

4) Four updates in two months is very nice. I never said otherwise. Choosing to *stop* updating a game to sell the next one (based on the same code, no less) is, however, an update policy that's bad for customers of the first game.

5) I did not address the concept of people asking that we never complain. Because it's silly. Honestly.

6) A question: if it takes saying the same thing ten times to get something fixed... would you say it ten times, or stay mute because you thought it would be impolite?

These debates are nothing compared to the shouting matches we got into over CMBB. Stug front and T34 turret armor anyone?

If anything I have noticed that participation has really slacked off since the game has been released. It might be a good thing if the new threads were tactical or technical in nature but seeing as all of them are about broken aspects of the program it just seems that there is a loss of interest. The buzz is missing on this one.

Hi Phil

I could be wrong but BFC seems to try to answer most issues. Also if you have to complain try to make sure its something new. I dont know but in the seven years i have played there games they finished them all. Im 100% certain it will be the same for CMSF. Would you like to know why, IMHO opinion CMSF will be an 8 or 9. Because they know if they fail there reputation is Gone, and i know that they like being number 1.

They never "finished" CM:AK, actually.

IMHO BFC has read every complaint that there possibly can be. Ask yourself is the game better or worse. If it better why not stress that also. Also dont you think that many people make there minds up when they read the posts, to buy or not.

Talk? Yes. Kinda. Except always muddy and non-committend.

A tactical wargame is about fire and maneuver. Neither is in 1.03 in a usable enough form.

What didnt they finish in CMAK

Olive groves are not seen as cover if I remember correctly, several gun/armor image icons were not finished (i.e. showing a PaK38 icon in the menu for a 6lber or something similar), a couple of other things that I can't recall off the top of my head.

I'm not saying those were major issues, at least for me, but you can't say that the game was truly finished.

WW2Wargamer you are a Man's Man. I commend you for taking the time to address these children. You Sir have the patience of a Saint. I for one don't even want to try anymore, to give them any sense of hope whether or not BFC will live up to their hype. They don’t care. They are simply trying to bring some form of purpose to an otherwise meaninglessly existence. It’s a GAME children! I even took the time to violate an NDA but that was not enough. F$#@ em. There are a select few that continue to poison the forum with negative unconstructive rhetoric. The whining unwashed masses aren’t worth your time sir. But again I commend you for making that effort.:Dsmile.gif;)tongue.gif

Good initial sales, perhaps. I'd like to see what sales have been from the day of release until now, and I have a hunch that sales for CMX2 modules are going to take a hit because of all the negative press. I would even venture to guess that the CMx2 WW2 game may even suffer because of this, especially since CMSF isn't going to be fixed (completely) anyway.

To say CMAK was unfinished and then to back it up with your reply. Well lets hope you were just joking.

Don't be a child - this isn't a contest for cool points. There were unfinished issues with the game, even BFC said so at the time, they just weren't a big enough deal to keep them from moving on to CMx2.

Hence unfinished.

I wish I had written this post! The part about the poison is spot-on. We have some arsenic specialists around here: a steady-stream of negative non-constructive comments with the hope their victim will finally die. Its getting old.

BF exist to make money, you know to eat etc. I love the original CM games and quite liked SF.

They have provided me with a product that I enjoyed and have finished in CMSF, I personally wont be playing it for years as it is not long living or deeply engrossing for me.

If we lose them, in the end its their fault not ours as its on them to provide us with the product we want to buy. As long as they keep doing that I will keep buying their games.

Cheers.....
