sdr633
I'm wondering what we're going to be able to learn after a battle is over. Two things I'd like to see added to the present system is how a tank was killed and what my planes may have accomplished.
Zalgiris 1410
I second the origional post above and add that I would also like to know specifically what my ATGs, AFVs and planes actually took out included in the end of battle AAR as well.
stoat
Planes, I don't know, but for ATGs and AFVs as well as infantry you just "look at map" when the battle is over, select a unit and bring up its info, and click "info/kills". This will tell you how many casualties it caused, mortars, guns and vehicles it destroyed (vehicles by type), and men it captured.
Zalgiris 1410
I know that stoat but I want a more specific report and for it to be availliable during the game too.

Zalgiris 1410
What I mean is that this gun/tank got this and that specific ID AFV with a hull penetraition on turn # at # secs, etc. During game then it can be a less specific version with just an estimated tally.
stoat
I understand now. This would be quite useful to help reconstruct the battle when it is over. However, if a feature is included that lets you view the battle as one movie when it is over, this would be unnecessary.
Ardem
Option for a GM/Referee only AAR would be nice so only they would know the results to post, especially for a multiplayer campaign game.

I really like this. Have it done by seperate password or something, definable by the scenario creator.
Peter Cairns
The problem with all this is "would you really know all this", If an air attack destroyed a panther you couldn't see, in an area that had an artillery attack how would you know. Did Coy commanders really have time to stop and do fifty page batle reports giving a shot by shot account. People always want more information, but i'd be more interested in a format that actually tried to give the same information, or even looked like a real after action report. Now i am sure at least some of you people will have seen, read (written) those. How like the real thing in style and detail is what we get now? Peter.

I want to know what tank killed what where. This is a game. A realistic one, but still a game.
GreenAsJade
I agree with mrp. After the game (realistic as it is) I want to be able to learn what really happened...
Peter Cairns
BUT you never really know what really happened, Why not include a twenty page print out of all the fire calculations. There is an episode of Red Dwarf where Rimmer spends his time talking about a game of Risk, dice throw by dice throw, which he kept record of in a note book. Do you guys do that too. Peter.
Zalgiris 1410
I would like CMx2 to do that for me Peter somewhat, though not as much as a twenty page print out, just the reports for each and every unit better than CMx1 does now.
hellfish
I think a full scenario replay would be nice. That would be an AAR in and of itself, wouldn't it?
Peter Cairns
I'd rather have a movie replay of the battle than a detailed report. Peter.
Zalgiris 1410
I'm not saying that I don't want that end of game full movie reply option intead of greater AAR details, Peter I want both improvements please!
Shmavis
I'm bumping this thread because I'd like to see aircraft kill tallies separated from that of my land forces, if it wouldn't be too complicated. I'd just like to see how much the air support contributed at the game's end.
Caesar
Yeah I like this idea too. I've had a number of games where a tank has suddenly died or a squad has taken casualties that I have either not noticed at the time or not known where it has come from. It would be great if we could see a list of both forces in the game and 'drill down' into them to see when they took hits, casualties etc and from whom. Links to the movie file would be very cool (though I suppose that is asking a bit much). Being able to review the movie file with the fog of war turned off (obviously you would need both passwords) would be good too.
