  1. Me too if you will. sdr633 @ stephendrogers.com Thanks in advance. Stephen
  2. Command HQ. The last time I moved, I lost my manual or else I'd still be playing after fifteen (!) years. (I did find someone who scanned in a page of codes but I could never read the screen nor the printout.) Other than CHQ and Steel Panthers, I have no other non-BFC titles on my hard drive. Stephen
  3. Okay, thanks to this thread, I just had to watch Kelly's Heros again.
  4. While most others seem to be asking for more details on game maps and better ways to view them, I'm wondering if FOW has been considered for maps. If the terrain is not in the LOS of any unit, the player doesn't know what lies ahead until someone scouts. Of course then I guess we run into the whole Borg spotting issue again.
  5. What keeps me rooted in WWII is the mobility of the armored units. WWII is simply more dramatic than, say, the slugfests of WWI. In my opinion, anyway.
  6. I'm wondering what we're going to be able to learn after a battle is over. Two things I'd like to see added to the present system is how a tank was killed and what my planes may have accomplished.
  7. I play as German against Soviets because I figure the AI plays in a manner more Soviet than German, dense assaults with high casualties but the numbers to overcome the losses.
  8. I'll repeat chiavarm's vote for COMMAND HQ. Not hard core but fun. Unfortunately, I moved a year ago and I've never been able to find the manual since which one needs in order to play (since the game starts by asking for the first word on page number XX).
  9. The crews were not suppressed. They hadn't even been fired on when the first T34 passed in front. In fact, they didn't take incoming until after I told them to take out the 2nd T34 two turns later. I'm replaying the scenario and the 88s (in about the same position) opened fire on the first squad that they saw in the woods. (The T34s, on the other hand, refused to wander into the fire lane that I'd created.) OTHER MEANS, thanks for the print screen tips. Hard to believe I've ten years of PC support under my belt.
  10. Oh, and the 88s did NOT have covered arcs assigned to them.
  11. The T34s came into LOS at the beginning of the turn and remained in LOS for the rest of the turn. Once I had control again, I told both 88s to fire and both did. I didn't think to save the file and don't have a screen shot program. (Any suggestions for a good one?) I was playing the scenario "CSDT B14 Eisen Faust" which I had downloaded from the Scenario Depot in case the designer may have had some input into the actions of the 88s.
  12. The 88s were neither hiding nor out of LOS because I was able to target and fire on the tanks. The 88s even took enemy small arm fire without responding.
  13. Last night, I had two 88s covering an open area through which two T34s wandered (at different times). The 88s did not fire on their own. Once I targeted the T34s, they went down in short order but the 88s ignored visible infantry as well. Both 88s were in command and quite happy. Do 88s need a covered arc to engage ground targets?
  14. Yes, that's what I meant by region.
  15. I searched through the CCBB forum but haven't found this answered: how does the region selected impact the type of map randomly designed? Does one region give more hills, large towns, etc. than the others? Also, do rivers EVER appear in random QB maps? I've never seen one. Thanks in advance. Stephen
  16. Thanks for everybody's thoughts on the matter (and I do have STALINGRAD already). In a strange twist, battle scenes are now a little less important to me than they were in the past because CMBB already delivers them. Now I'm trying to flesh out the warriors a bit.
  17. What I know about THE WINTER WAR I learned at Amazon. The product ASIN is B0000646UN. As a Finnish movie, it is subtitled in English.
  18. I hope it's all right to post about a non-game topic. I'm looking to buy a movie about the eastern front and am torn between THE WINTER WAR (about the Finns) and CROSS OF IRON. For some reason, I just bet people here have opinions on which I should get.
  19. After the AAR comes up, we have the chance to return to the map to click on units and check their final and true kill numbers. Is there a way to check the kills for minefields and aircraft? I end up rarely using either because I'm never sure if they earned their keep.
  20. In the CMBB DEMO ReadMe file, the instructions state to simply delete the directory to remove the game. I guess that's why it's called a Read Me file. Just call me green.
  21. CMBB: Before I install the game that I just received, should I delete the demo? How do I delete the demo since I don't see an undelete? I'm running WindowsXP. Thanks in advance.
