Should SC2 be played by kids under 18????

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to sue people for being incompetent parents? I'd sue these guys for 5$ million for having kids and not being mentally qualified to give them a decent upbringing.

In all seriousness I find it alarming that there's an increasing trend of parents blaming everyone else but themselves for their kids' troubles.

If there were a means of doing so I think this would be the very last, perhaps exactly the last issue that would come up in the courts.

Anyway, who gets to decide what is and isn't a decent upbringing? During the late 70s I worked in a program for kids on probation and I repeatedly said it was almost always the parents, and not their kids, who were at fault. Surprisingly often the parents themselves agreed with me and, after the damage was done, they were usually eager to try and rectify matters.

-- Regarding this specific group, I think it's safe to say finding them, and bringing them to court would be a real challenge. ;)

Nah it isn't that bad. Yea millions die, but atleast it isn't graphic violence. Let's not forget it really happened, so it isn't like Doom or something that just pulls horrendous violence out of nowhere and splashes it all over your screen. (not that I care but still)

Look at what is happening in Iraq, terrorists just bombed a kids soccer game and a week ago used chemical weapons on civilians. Terrorists also rape people's wives and daughters if they find out that they support the elected government. Should we censor the news?

  • 2 weeks later...

I can't see much death in SC, death of pixels? it's not much for animation, stick figurines on boxes?

If kids want death turn on the History Channel! smile.gif Open their school books, they give figures and some pictures of the Holocaust there. Education? Bahhh, indoctrination

We fear what it is, that is in our nature, killing. Since the beginning of time for whatever reason, justified we do it. Never going to change in our lifetimes.

I'd rather kids played SC than were pimps in Playstation Games that are million times the sales of SC... Pimps that kill prostitutes, steal their money after raping them with gore tongue.gif

As far as keeping those titles out of the hands of kids, I don't see how it's possible. Remeber how easy it was for us to steal our Dad's porn? If kids want it, they'll get it! They're much more clever by 14 than you ever could imagine.

I can't see sc2 beeing violent at all. What I find more disturbing is the conduct of some players around here.

I dont know if it's this thread that caused Biowizard to jump me. I guess he became angry because I raised the issue???

Anyway he kept sending weird e-mails ato Rambo(as I understand both anonymous threats and others) with anti-USA propaganda and sexual invites. No wonder parents will act seeing all this trash talk on the board. What Ive got to do with the Biowizard-Tao Jah-Rambo war that is beyond me to understand.

Anyway, maybe its this paraental organisation that is trying to "frame him"???

Well no point discussing this anymore. I doubt this parent organisation is even for real...

This is a game site. We play games to enjoy ourselves. We go to game sites to enjoy ourselves. If BioWizard* had a problem with this thing that's unfortunate. And if you have a problem with it that's also unfortunate.

Lighten up already, and never mind this bullying line. Maybe it helps to be taken in by something like that first post. You say you're gullible, so consider believing this dreck as a step toward being less gullible.

20/20 had a segment last night about people being taken in, big time, by really pathetic Internet scams. That's bullying, outright theft. Anyone who got taken in by the opening post here definitely needs to rethink the way they read things.**

*Assuming he isn't what I think he is. If he isn't, I appologizing for my suspicious thoughts.

**And I'm gullible too, having fallen for practically ever stupid trick imaginable, including a pretty face getting me to co-sign a loan while in the Air Force only to have to pay it in full later on when she skipped out to have another man's baby. Which was okay, it was a comparatively cheap lesson in these things.

Anyway, Bromley, you really are taking this too seriously. smile.gif

Bromley? Broom?

I see you registred early on but you never belonged to the old guard. I don't remember seeing you play sc1 or contributing one thing to the development of this game. Now you want to bully me and JJ because you can't be the sc stud you want?

Come on man I'm beginning to think that you run that parents association fan club.

Hey! I have credentials tongue.gif .

- Fixed a Properties dialog bug that revealed partially hidden unit research levels under FoW (Bromley)

- Fixed a bug that reduced Battleship/Cruiser attacks across river tiles (Bromley)

- Fixed a fortification completion error that caused erroneous completion dates (Terif, Bromley)

[Plus one other pretty interesting one that wasn't mentioned smile.gif ]

You're probably right. I don't have a problem with the jokes, although whoever set up the false BioWizard email a/c went too far IMO. I interpreted Kuni's post as an attempt to string it out. If I was wrong, I apologise to him.

Re. the email - not what I read in that locked "Who is framing me?" thread.

Given the two threads that you posted re: Bio/rambo, it seemed likely that the email was part of that joke. Of course, there's nothing to say that it originated with you; that was just what I assumed.

Maybe you, Bio and Rambo are all in on it and I'm the one falling for the joke :D .

Well, Bromley, I've known Kuniworth a long time and he's one of my best online friends.

As such I think it falls upon to me to defend his character. To defend him against these terrible things he's being accused of and, well, excuse me a monent while I see if Clarence Darrow is still taking new clients from the Great Beyond. :D

But, honestly, I've never know Kuni to, uh, hmmm, uh. Well, I just gotta find a way to defend him anyway! smile.gif
