Would you pay for a special terrain Add On - Berlin? Grain Elevator?

I viewed Michael's question from a point of view found in some of the train simulator games for instance. They have ongoing "expansion packs" or "service packs" which are sold.

If it were a rather extensive expansion or whatever to a piece of software, then yes, I would pay for it. I personally do not mind paying for expansions but cringe at paying for what I consider corrections or fixes.

I would probably pay for such terrain expansion files, assuming the price was not unreasonable, and by that I mean, for a DL only product, a pack of, say, a dozen unique terrain file sets, should be ~ $15 (US) or less.

I was thinking on the order of a few dozen terrain additions for about the same price. I did feel quite ripped off by SWOTL when the P-38 - the first true long range escort fighter - had to be purchased seperately. The other addons left me cold - German experimental fighters that saw no real action - and then the B-24 and other stalwarts were still excluded!

The train expansion is a good example; like a flight simulator with extra terrain to fly over - but the difference in this case obviously is CM is primarily a two player game (at least, it is at its best as such). In order not to fractionalize the market too much, additions like this would have to be very few in number.

I agree with the sentiments about telophone pole doodads and such; I also agree that I would not want to see release delayed in order to do any of this. I should have thought that that goes without saying.

I can think of a dozen or more generally useful tiles I would consider paying for before a few single structures which effected a few weeks of fighting at most. How many more miles would one get out of a road-with-brush tile, or a trail-in-woods tile or--god forbid--a stream tile than a reichstag?

The only way a trail in woods tile would be of any use is if there was a follow-trail command, no?

Streams are already represented in CMBO by open ground, but I agree some kind of graphical depiction would be a nice bit of chrome.

A feature common to many sizable towns, especially ones with railyards. They were used as observation platforms, so they would have a tactical as well as aesthetic purpose.

I would pay for towers in general (clock towers, church towers, etc.) if they could be used by sharpshooters, MGs, spotters, etc.

Not necessarily. I think having something with a 5m wide clear spot as opposed to having to put 20m wide scattered trees in forests to simulate paths passable to vehicles.

Don't you get this already when you put different types of tree tiles next to each other? If a "forest" on your map is half pines and half woods, there will be an open seam right up the middle.
