CDV really rubbing it in !

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Sorry to butt into discourse between all you Cmbb owning sods but........

Here is an 'interesting' snippet from (an unsolicited I might add) Newsletter email I got from CDV this very day :

CDV Newsletter - English

(Deutsche Version: Hier klicken)

03. International Combat Mission 2 tournament on gamershall.de

Fred Wartenberg aka „Cobra" is organising a international Combat Mission 2 tournament on gamershall.de. Players all around the world are invited to join this tournament. The rules, and the possibility to register yourselves can be reached through this link:

http://www.gamershall.de/wpc/cm-turnier-international/cm-turnier-international -main-englisch.htm

Quite how they expect their non-German.....er.....'customers' to partake in this is puzzling to say the least since they wont release the damn game

Adverts/sections on various Cdv titles included (Cossacks Sudden Strike II etc) but bar the above not a jot about Cmbb....ooops my bad.....I mean CMII

They are a strange lot........

Postscript : I have replied (as politely as I can manage) to this Newsletter enquiring as to method they propose for my participation in this Tourney.

Will wait up all night for answer........

Damn mate youve cracked it !! we should suggest to Cdv that they bundle Cm II with Sudden Strike II then maybe they will release it smile.gif

Afterall SSII is we are told by Cdv an accurate Wargame based firmly on historical data so what better to accompany that old ropey Cm title eh ? I mean how good can CM2 be if it has GIs in Ostfront !?

:D:D

Good to see you are taking politeness lessons tongue.gif

I feel for you all waiting in the UK

Thankfully I'm a Mac owner (rubbing it in ;) ) with CMBB in Essex and can sympathise with you CDV customers.

I got today's CDV newsletter and noticed the lack of intel re. CMBB. When the preorders first came up (on CDV German website) I e-mailed CDV if I could preorder a Mac English version (At that time the CDV English website had been totally lacking in info on CMBB and OK I knew they weren't dealing with the Mac version) but all I got a short reply saying there was no plan to release and no indication of purchasing direct from BFC. From their point of view just a dead end.

I'm sure, for your sakes, BFC are lighting a few fireworks under CDV as Matt & co are going 'above and beyond' just sorting out the dodgy disk issue.

gary,

I had the non install problem with the german version.

lucky for me I can speak german and english smile.gif

Anyway when I finally got the customer support on the phone( you cant call the number printed in the manual outside of germany(!)

the guy told me they were still busy with the english version and that release of it would be somewhere between october 4 and 18

you have to wait at least one more week

Yea, I had the email from cdv. I'm just wondering whether this incertainty with the UK release date affects the Finnish release date too, since our version will only differ from the UK one in that the .pdf manual is in Finnish, otherwise it's plain English all over. Our date is Sep 30, and if I'm not receiving my copy of CMBB anytime next week, I shall be thoroughly annoyed...

Yep, I suppose they translate back the German version in English, a time-consuming task ! tongue.gif

I emailed CDV direct asking them to post some sort of official statement about European release dates ..... So far all i have had back is an automated response .... well thats ok for now

as long as they follow it up ( i wont hold my breath!).

However I do feel that the signature on that automated email speaks volumes for how much importance they place on Combat Mission (BO or BB). :(

Obviously we are not even worthy of a mention.

Personally if I was BFC i'd be asking some serious quiestions.

You will notice that sudden strike gets plenty of mentions, leading me to agree with gautrek's posts that they dont want the CMBB release date to clash.

I can cope with delayed release dates ... CDV are not alone in that area ... but the lack of response and updates show their contempt for their customers, BFC the public in general !

Ouch, at least playerone.fi has changed the date in Finland to the 4th October. That sucks. I have to live with a German game with a German manual for at least a week longer.

Hi all

Well personally I have now had enough (after exercising extreme patience IMO) with CDV and am now going the route of US intermediary (at least I hope so eh Bruno old mate old pal smile.gif ).

I guess I should have done this weeks ago (but the Scots blood strain runs contrary to spending of any excess pennies at all :D ) although if I get one of newer CDs I may avoid any install issues (Lord knows what awaits purchasers of Cdv version in this regard !!)

Knowing my luck ref this game there will be a worldwide postal strike or BTS CD machine will melt or............ :D

Good of cdv to post a list of their games. Now we know what to boycott! Most of them have been panned in the gaming press so lets hope it hurts cdv hard in the wallet. They deserve it. On a positive note could Battlefront please ask for an explanation from cdv on our behalf as to what the real situation is?

The advertising that cdv have put out is very sparse and IMHO rather dire,I can imagine that this whole issue is deterring new players to CMBB and that is a criminal shame.

To be fair to gamershall.de, it's not an official site, and CDV's idiotic European release policy is not their problem. After all, it's only non-German Euros who can't buy it in stores (and who aren't even allowed to buy it by mail order) - the rest of the world can happily compete.

It's too late for CMBB now folks. We can only hope Battlefront have read and understood, and might do things a little differently next time.

No issue with gamershall.de (these blokes obviously just want to play the game) but it was an offical CDV newsletter sent direct to yours truly in the UK which included this info !

Oh and still waiting for their reply smile.gif

Cheers

Soon (hopefully) to be a US Cmbb owner :D
