The German mortar , Karl

Recommended Posts

“ the garrison of Brest-Litovsk , surrounded and

isolated hundreds of miles in the rear, had held

out for 30 days against German bombers and

artillery. On July 23 after a pounding by a new

German mortar , Karl , which fired a projectile

weighing over two tons , the garrison surrendered.”

From , The Second World War by Martin Gilbert.

Does any one know if this mortar will be in the game?

or would it be just to obscure to fit in.........

KARL! KARL! KARL!! Please! Please! *sniff* *sniff*

As obscure as the Sturmtiger and about the same rate of fire (1 shot per ~12mins).

and it's a nifty machine: (I know, I posted the pic several times before :D )

PS: I'm proud to be the first to whine about the absence of this particular item. ;) I feel so cheated. Fix or do somefink!

A dedicated PzIV chassis carried the rounds and they were of course loaded by crane. By the way, that long barrel is a fake (according to Jentz). The Germans airbrushed a much longer barrel over the original snub-nose barrel. Crafty bastards.

Karl won't be in the game, probably because the time it takes simply to load a round would relegate it to either 1 or 0 rounds fired per scenario! I think even the much smaller SturmTiger has a rate of fire something on the order of 1 round every 3 minutes or so!

Yep. It's a mortar but breech loading. I'd hate to picture the gunners trying to slip a shell into the muzzle and then elevate until it slid down onto the firing pin.
