Alright, I edited around a bit more and have come to a result that I like a lot better than the previous. The only problem is that the lower tanks are usually behind the four buttons of the main menu.

[EDIT]: Here used to be the raw version of my splash screen. See the screen below, it's the same.

Hmmm... That last one is pretty. I want them both.

You are right, you either have to mod the buttons to be opaque. Take a screen shot with the button blocking. Open it in your graphic program. Open your splash screen without buttons. Scale them the same, overlay one to the other to mark button locations. Take button locations on your splash screen by cutting out the button but using your graphic. Play with it, replace old buttons. On and on.

There were several splash screens for CMBO that did this. An expert of this type of work is Tom at Tom's CMHQ. He was very good at this.

kump, I know what kind of process you mean - actually, not too difficult. All you need is take the buttons, make the brownish background transparent and put the appropriate part of the splash screen behind it. Thanks for the suggestion.

I will make those changes tomorrow. I'll gladly release the latter to the public, I am just not sure where to host it. I do have some personal webspace where I host my Europa Universalis 2 AARs, but

a) I'm running out of space slowly

B) I'm not sure what sort of a bandwidth limit I have.

[EDIT]: I just realized that, after all, the buttons in my game are in German.... so maybe someone could provide me with the English buttons or at least with the text on the buttons, including multiplayer, (in that case I might make custom buttons).

I downloaded a splash screen mod for BB. No problem. Looks great. But now the original BB splash screen, with the movement arrows on the globe comes up as the splash screen for BO !!

How can that happen?

Splashing Toad

???? the original screen was russians hiding behind a wall about to ambush some germans.

did you download the globe splash screen, accidently unzip into the cmbo directory and forget to correct it?

Klump, I got your mails, and I will start working later today. Thanks a lot! smile.gif

Cpt. Foobar, I was thinking about doing something like that. I would much prefer using an original map with handwritten symbols etc. as I think adding those with a graphics program would make it look too artificial.

The map I've used for the background is, btw, a Soviet map of Stalingrad from 1937. The town is on the bottom left corner (which is why it's not seen in the second screen.

Ok, here's the second one with new buttons matching it (currently only in 1024x768).

I replaced the main menu buttons and the multiplayer buttons - except the "Go Back" button which is used in both scenario selection and multiplayer menu in different locations, so I am not sure what to do about that one...

[EDIT]: Oh, and the buttons do light up when hovering over them.

I'm still thinking about what to do with the "Go Back" button, but aside from that the 1024x768 version is done.

Cpt. Foobar, is this what you had in mind for a "map splashg screen"?

Hello,

Just to be sure we see the same picture: you speak about the german soldier running, half-bent, with his rifle in the right hand?

If yes, then I remember I saw this picture as a cover for the german war-time magazine Signal. Can't be you more precise, sorry, was long time ago and I'm not "groggish" enough to file these kinds of info smile.gif .

Where is it available for download?
