All the same fundamental flaws in all their glory.
Foobar replied to a topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Steve>Adam1 Im personally willing to accept far less in CMx1, because the gameplay is really rock-solid, and the interface is very very easy to use (only 1 key per command, no sub-menus) At this point I would abandon realism altogether to have a squad behave in urban environments, in a way that I can somewhat predict and count on. As it is, I am scared to command them to do anything, because the squad grouping and movement is so unpredictable. High Hopes and Low Expectations here as well, and I'm looking forward to future advances and improvements. Until then, i'll be burning a hole in my CMBB disk.. -
Things You'd Love But Hate To See

MOAB -
well, the squelch was an important feature, because it prompted you to look up at the corner it is even more needed in cmsf, because not only is the purple text hard to see up there, you can't stop to look around I was playing with a friend the other day, and it got very confusing as we were doing a post game study, for the reasons i listed. does anyone else miss it?

BUMP?? come on guys, you know what Im talkin about

SPOILER just tell them to, with an 'area target' best thing to do though, is use the striker that is designated as "FSV" to call in a linear artillery barrage on that trench, from one side to the other you could spend all day plinking at them in that trench, and all you will manage to do is suppress them. (This is probably why they arent firing, they know that the chances of killing are slim. They will automatically fire at any exposed infantry, outside of a trench, or that are firing from a building) also, you could pull up one of the strikers that has the 40mm grenade launcher, get a 45 deg or 90 deg angle up on the trench, and then start dumping in bombs, hope this helps

I need to figure out how to use infantry that way, mine always get slaughtered, and I am afraid to dismount the strykers so far, in urban environment, I shoot up the buildings a bit, drive a stryker nose first into the edge of the building, pop smoke, dismount, and then hope for the best

You're the one that brought that nasty tuna casserole, even after NO-ONE touched it last year! -

I make my best decisions in 5 minutes reflection, Mord. Dont bother me with the facts when the truth is on the line. My gut is my guide, and in this forum, I'm in good company -

Im just kidding though Steve- This is a culture shock tonight for me, being one of your die-hards, since the CMBO black and teal forums... Im going to have to do some drinking to get through these big changes. Seriously, changing from CMBB to CMSF is as big an impact on my daily life as changing jobs or moving! You should start a support group or somefink -
Stop calling me gang! jk

I'm in San Diego. It sounds fun, but to be honest I dont think I could get the free time to come up

Dont get discouraged Nick, There are enough of us out there, that I am SURE you will see some creative user mods out there. I was one of the hold-outs about the new series, but it should hold some very interesting gameplay suprises for us.

He is not familiar. He is one of those 5 digit members...Wouldnt know a refresh monkey from a hole in the ground...

Why do a search, when i can have forum rats serve as a human FAQ for my every random query? Searches are just so impersonal... Oh, and will we be able to use the Merkava in CMSF? I cant remember....

US vs AdamL as Syrian. He seems to have have a penchant for David and Goliath battles, but unfortunately he will still be using slingshots and rocks, and I will roll up on him in an Abrahms.

Sound Events -- The post-airstrike War Whoop

Tarq, OK, I'll bite... what specifically happened in 1732? I was pretty sure we started screwing up again with the first papal appointment... -
Sound Events -- The post-airstrike War Whoop
Foobar replied to Capt. Toleran's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Well perhaps the thing to do would be to have a "generic" war whoop for either side, that isnt too discernable as what they would be saying. I think the negative reaction is not to the idea of troops celebrating their victory, but specific voices saying "Allah Akbar" "Die American Scum", or "See you in hell towel-head!" and crap like that. But anyway lets get back to the interesting part, which is the idea of the morale boost. I can think of plenty of instances where the US forces would get the boost, plenty of opportunities for air support, etc. But what of the Syrian side? IIRC we are not doing IED's, and even if we were, it is usually a demolition team who would be "whooping", not one that would be impacted in direct combat. I am sure there are some scenarios where the Syrians could get a boost. Can you think of any examples? -
You're on!! I call Custer!
