hobo
Can you believe this. A few weeks ago I tried to get on this site from my office to see if I had made SuperTed's tournament. Instead of the familiar sandbags I saw a great big Stop sign with the words "YOU HAVE REACHED AN WEBSITE DEEMED INAPPROPRIATE BY CORPRATE SECURITY. CONTINUED ACCESS OF SUCH SITES COULD RESULT IN DISMISSAL". I work for a fairly large tech company that allows you to surf the web as long as it is not porn or not done too much. I guess the name BATTLEFRONT.COM must have spooked someone. - HOBO
Captain Wacky
They probably figured you were a disgruntled worker trying to buy guns online. Battlefront.com for all your militia's needs
Wanderer
Same thing happened to me when I tried to look up the site at college. The firewall blocked me seeing it. Havn't a clue why. Really pissed me off. You think someone would check whats actually on the site before blocking it.
Schrullenhaft
I wonder if Battlefront.Com made it onto some web filter/proxy lists. I'm not sure what the criteria are for listing sites as being 'objectionable' that don't have pornographic content. Possibly some posts with foul language were picked up by a 'bot or something and Battlefront.Com made it onto some filter lists. This is one of the reasons why excessive foul language isn't tolerated on the board - you get added to filter lists; something that is bad business for a company that is dependant on web-based sales of their product. Most of the filtering software packages on the market are automatically updated with new lists of 'objectionable sites'. If you think it's unfair, contact the administrators over the filter and have them manually allow Battlefront.com. As long as your boss doesn't think you're wasting too much time here during working hours... The Commissar
Guys, Ive had the same problem from various public facility computers with the security software installed. I encounter this while trying to check on the BTS forums, and such blockings are very irritating when Im trying to see if anyone posted anything interesting. If you are like me, I have a solution. Go on google.com (or any other good search engine) and type in Battlefront forums, or Battlefront messege board, or whatever gets you a direct link to the BTS forums. When you find one, it bypasses the security software, which blocks access to the main page only it seems. Have fun wasting work hours at our forums! Andrew H.
There is a word that rhymes with "front" that might set off filtering software, I suppose.
Tero
If you kept it off the Top 10 list (most hits) you may have managed to stay under the radar. Have you tried if the ban is from your workstation only ? [ 01-13-2002: Message edited by: tero ]</p>
Pud
We have the same thing here at work, the firewall has a listing of "inappropriate sites". Depending on your IT's setup, you may find the following works (it does for our firewall). Change the "proxy server" settings to be a "public proxy". This basically means their firewall thinks you are browsing this proxy site instead of the site you access through their proxy server. Here is a listing script for proxy servers, you may have to try a few. proxys4all Trouble is theres a good chance your works firewall will stop you accessing this proxy server listing site as well. If so drop me an email and I will send you some settings to try.
AKCowboy
I could live without being able to visit the battlefront.com forum from work (wouldn't like it but I could live with it). But for the love of God - don't take my PBEM away!!!

busboy
That sucks. I was blocked out of this sight back at my high school (thank God I'm outta there...college now baybe! ) but it was blocked out by some security system called "Bess." (get a damn little picture of a dog saying "Bess can't go there.) You could send an e-mail to the service to have sites reviewed. I sent review requests for this and several other WW2 related sites. They were blocked for "violent content" but I argued for their opening on "educational grounds." They unlocked 'em. And relocked 'em again 2 weeks later. I complained again, They unlocked 'em for a week, then locked 'em again. I gave up and graduated.

coaster
its possible the battlefront.com domain got onto a ban list because of its loose similarity to the stormfront.org domain (and the general incompetence of the people who make such lists.) RMC
They just started using something called websense at work and BF is blocked due to being in the category of games. I don't know if it came pre-identified or if the IT guys sort URLs that are accessed and then screen them one by one. It all happened without any sort of announcement. We played around and found some other categories like gambling (the boss' secretary liked to check the lotto site every day) and "tasteless". The site that earned that title was threebrain.com makers of silly rock videos like weeeeeee.
