GreenAsJade
How do you tell the difference by looking? Darned if I can! Is there a mod out there that differentiates better than the standard CMBB buildings?
Warmaker
Heavy buildings have the concrete or brick-work to the exterior. Any other materials like wooden exteriors should be considered light. I'm pretty sure I'm using a building mod but can't figure which/who made the mod...
BulletRat
grab los off one of your units, and put it over the building, itll tell you what it is even if the unit can't see it. 9gg f88ked keyboard0
Reichenberg
GreenAsJade, I had the same problem for quite some time. Since then I only play without roofs on buildings. Light building: Brown / wooden floor Heavy building: Grey / concrete floor It doesn't look as nice, but it is definitely worth it, because you can see the difference right away. (BulletRat - I know about LOS: that is what I have resorted to, but what a pain in the backside when looking at a map and assessing plans to have to grab a unit and los over every building, then try to remember again a minute later "hang on, is that one heavy or light"?) With respect to "wood or brickwork/concrete" on the outside, take a look at this picture and see if you can honestly predict what type of house each of these is (based on how they look, not on your knowledge from finding out the hard way many times). Think you have it sussed? The Answer Is Here! If you think really know how to tell the difference, here's a challenge: 1) post your rule for telling the difference THEN 2) look at this one and see if your rule gets it right. (you can cheat and look first then post the rule, but where's the fun in that?)
Lady Roxanne
Further confusing the issue, the little shacks have gray walls like the heavy buildings. They're not that much smaller either. Unless a "normal" sized building is nearby for comparison they can be mistaken for heavy buildings. Then again, I'm an old man with bad eyes.

General Lee
I dont know about anyone else but on my game when i move my curser over a building it tells me what type it is.
Lady Roxanne
General Lee, Yes, but I'd rather not play touchy-feely with the LOS tool in order to interpret the map, whenever possible. This is a very minor issue of course; but, it seems to me the shacks could just as easily have been colored the same as light buildings.
MeatEtr
As i mentioned in another thread, but i'll say it here since its the topic. The buildings look fine as is and there is no need to redraw the buildings just to identify them. Just add a "L" or "H" in a circle on the sides of the building bmps to easily identify them. It may look weird but at least you'll be able to identify heavy or light without the LOS tool.

Michael Dorosh
You need a really ugly mod like this one: grey is heavy, brown is light, both have grey roofs. Shacks are brown with brown roofs. SgtMuhammed
M.D. You're right, that is one ugly mod. [ June 22, 2003, 05:03 AM: Message edited by: sgtgoody (esq) ]
Warmaker
I also personally just use the LOS cursor to tell me what's about.

MeatEtr
MD, isn't your ASL mod? Or did someone else do that. Nevertheless it is rough on the eyes. But you can spot the heavy or light buildings from afar.
