How many PAK 40's were built

Recommended Posts

Same guy's less detailed coverage of Russian gun production is here - http://members.tripod.com/~Sturmvogel/SovWarProd.html

The Russian battlefield site has details on only a portion of the gun park, notably the various 76s and the 57mm ATG. It is here -

In print, Steve Zaloga's "Red Army Handbook" is the best single source for this sort of thing (also on the evolution of Russian TOEs).

I hope this helps.

A good website with gun and ammo production. The PAK40 ATG must have been the majority user of this ammo production. The tanks used different ammo and the only other user would be SP types like the Marder, etc.

Interesting to see how little AP40 or smoke ammo was made. The data shows a hollow charge round?

Well a similar gun was mounted on the Jagdtiger (I think it was a 128mm L56) and I think it might have been envisaged for the super heavy experimental tanks (Maus) as well. I think the most likely use of this calibre weapon in a non-mounted format would have been heavy AA as mentioned.

As a side note on super heavy tanks, would anybody else like to see the Ratte tank modelled for a bit of fun in CM? It was to weigh about 1000 tons and mounted a turret with two 11inch guns (the same turret as mounted on the Battlecruisers Scharnhorst and Gneisenau!!!!). At the end of the day though it would be crazy (the idea was only ever a drawing board one anyway in reality) and only good for a bit of fun. I would quite like to see the Maus modelled and put into the game (188 tons, 128 mm main gun, 75mm secondary) if only for a fun scenario (take out that monster?).
