  1. I also like the idea of runners for the coy level to emphasis the importance command and control. Cool idea. Same problem if you had some tank support I would think. Most tanks might have radio with comms with each other but did they have comms with a coy command? For the larger forces have anyone ever used other players (humans) to command different elements on the same side. That is Player A commands one battlegroup while Player B another. Agree on the make up of each battlegroup , a mission objective then carries them out independently of each other. Or something along those lines. I’m sure it’s been done before just haven’t heard about. Although it would require at least 3-4 players in PBEM I guess. Could be interesting to see how your comrade tackles their objective.
  2. Thanks Matt. I'll gladly have the "Freezing Point". I shall also check out the others suggetions. Thanks all.
  3. A mate of mine just finished a read on the Finnish War against the Soviets. He asked me if there are any good CM battles out there because it was such a brutal campaign. Field Marshall Mannerheim is his new hero. Any suggestions? PBEM preferred. PS I have gone back to CM1 and shelved CM2.I bet I'm not the only one.
  4. 38. So has anyone bothered to collate these figures to extrapolate something meaningful?
  5. Know of any scenarios where this has been done?
  6. Didn’t think I was being that vague. Like I said, haven’t been around a while and looking for the some updated info. However thanks for the latest.
  7. Been absent from the forum for sometime. I'm sure this answer has been given already. Does "on track" come with a timeline?
  8. What can and cant be crossed by fords, deep and shallow?
  9. Please clarify that TRP can be used by tanks for “bore sighted” in the set up stage of defence until the tank which has the TRP in its sight moves. What other units other than arty can benifit from TRP?
  10. What I'm looking for is the best way to conduct a fighting retreat with speed I suppose. By using the withdraw order does it impact on morale etc?
  11. When is this command is best ordered? I use it for platoons to break contact and it always seem turn into a rabble. Am I better of using “assault” for tactical withdraws?
  12. Oh, I now see this thread is already started.
  13. Can bridges be destroyed in CMBB and CMAK? If so how? If not why not?
  14. I have just completed a Pure Armour ME in Italy and my opponent made an observation. I played as Axis against US Forces. He observed that every time his M4A3s went to engagement my armour his crew opened up with a burst of MG fire prior to using their main armament. This gave him the impression that this action gave a big signal to my crew as to their position. This allowed my crews to quickly identify the threat and get of the first shot with the main armament. I tend to agree with his observation. I would have thought that a tank which identified an armour threat would cause the whole crew to focus on destroying such a treat with its main gun and not a MG. Are we missing something here?
  15. Situation: Axis defending(Reg)me, against Russian(Reg). Night, rain and visibility down to 50 metres. First contact, 1 of my sentry squads come up against almost a coy size force. This skirmish result in the destruction of my squad but interestingly almost routing/breaking an entire Russian Rifle Coy. My opponent was most distressed when further contact in another part of the front had the same result. Two Russian Coy routed or broken without any significant casualties. So my question is: Is moral a huge factor in night battles so as to cause such massive breaking of troops? Or is there another explanation.
  16. ...and in a game I just played a building I captured was a cheese shop..and it had no cheese!
  17. Can trenches be linked? That is creating a complex that would allow movement throughout a series of linked trenches without losing your cover.
  18. I don't agree entirely. I had an experience playing as Axis where my aircraft(I can only remember it by a vet but not type) caused major drama for my Allied opponent. My Russian friend had at least 3 jeeps with anit-tanks guns limbered. After the fist 6 moves all three had been KOed and that was that. He had no AA support My air asset made no impact on his armour, ignored them all together and went for the "soft targets" only. I don't know how the Tac-AI works but it worked for me. I feel at least one aircraft is worth its value. Having said that I would not be happy with anything less than a veteran as I have experience of blue on blue with lesser skilled pilots
  19. Another effective addition to the "beehive" round, also know as splintex was a timed fuse. So now not only engage the enemy directly in front but now you engage the following assault wave. This was succesfull, also in Vietnam with the battle of Fire Support Base Coral. http://users.mildura.net.au/users/marshall/coral/coral.htm
  20. What is the differences between trenches and foxholes in the game? What are the advantages of trenches over foxholes? Are they commonly employed, or should I say dug by human opponents. Haven't come across them in QB with both human and computer opponents, so I wounder if they are worth the cost.
  21. [href="http://www.feldgrau.com/weaprod.html">http://www.feldgrau.com/weaprod.html</a> for some statistics on German weapons production. [/QB]
  22. RAA(Reverve)105mm Fld Gun, Hammel JOST (Joint Offensive Support Team aka FO party ) and current. Thought I could detect the keen interest in guns.
  23. A comprehensive response JasonC, thanks. I shall take a little time to practice such methods. You would not happen to be an ex gunner perhaps?
  24. Excuse my ignorance, but where can I get these impressive and other such skins from?
  25. Can you expand on the funtion of "Q" delay please. Can it be used on all indirect weapons?
