Guest wwb_99
Having seen several posts on the board and chatted with many, I have come to the conclusion that there are other CM players and fellow BTS BBS refresh monkeys in the national capitol area. With a government job, there is definitely plenty of time to surf the board between coffee breaks. I am pretty sure I am here, and I know Nitsud42, Polar and Admiral are about, but how about sounding off, you worthless monkeys . JessRobinson
I too am a federal slug at a government agency which will remain nameless. Live in Fairfax, Virginia, commute to DC, live in the netherworld between CM sessions. And boy have I gotten good at minimizing my browser. Guest wwb_99
Minimizing browzers. . . hehe I am at the helpdesk, so half of my job is being here to answer the phone and calm the irate user who usually brought the problem on themself. And I am damn sure that no one checks my history file. WWB ------------------ Before battle, my digital soldiers turn to me and say, Ave, Caesar! Morituri te salutamus. Bruno Weiss
Yep, I'm round here's also. Folks back home say; "Yeowser dat boy done good, went an got him a guvment job." Was gonna buy the boss a copy of CM for Christmas so's he'd go off and leave us alone. He needs something to do. Have to admit though, commuting on 270 is more interesting now imagining your weaving in and out of trees in an M8. And the daily wrecks and mangled vehicles just add to the realism. Bil Hardenberger
I work in Annapolis and live in Easton... not a Government job, but I keep busy Close enough to the DC area for ya? Bil P.S. Perhaps we should all get together and plan a trip to the tank museum at Aberdeen one of these weekends.
Lawyer
Yup, I'm also standing guard in the Nation's Capital (aka Dubyaville). I can see Union Station and the Senate from my office window. Fortunately, the office net nanny hasn't figured out to block the CM forum. I live in Falls Church and endure the commute to work between CM sessions. I thought I was the only CM fan in town, although I noticed Lt. Tankersley lives around here. As to local band quotes, my favorite was always Root Boy Slim's (RIP) song title: "Boogie till You Puke" I would also be interested in getting together to visit Aberdeen or other local military museums and events to share the experience. It's hard to get motivated to go by yourself. Everyone in my normal life who knows of my WWII history/CM interests thinks I'm either a Nazi or a gun nut. The PC folks in my building even admonished me about openly carrying my copy of Liddell Hart's "The German Generals Talk" to read at lunch because it has a large swastika on the cover. BeWary
Wow, there's a lot of us here! I live in the cuntree, but work in Fairfax. I'd be up for a trip to Aberdeen sometime, as I don't think da wife would be too interested in it. BeWary ------------------ "Liberty or Death?" Lawyer, Geez, I can see Union Station and the Senate right at this very moment out of my 8th floor window. Maybe if you stand up and wave at, say, exactly 2:00, I can wave back! (Or maybe my sharpshooter can pick you off.) I live one town over from you, in Fairfax. Maybe we can commute together and play some hotseat games on a laptop. Polar
I live in Centreville... grew up in Fairfax. Quite a move, huh? I work in the IT industry for an anonymous company in the Dulles area. I too size up terrain for my M8s and Pershings... lotsa good ground along Rt. 28. wie201
Another Federal employee here, who also lives in Fairfax. Would be interested in hosting face-to-face network games if anyone is interested. I am spending the weekend fishing ethernet lines through the house (my wife is tired of me running lines through the foyer). If all goes well (and I don't do any permanent damage to the house) I should have 4 computers on-line on a network, connected to a router with cable internet access. With one refrigerator dedicated to my beer and wine supply, what else do we need? And yes, I am broke . . . bring your own chips
paullus
I'm out here in Lanham, MD working. Lived in DC for 8 years, but am now out in cow-country (Cooksville, MD - middle of nowhere). Don't work for the government, but sell to them. Anyone need GSA office furniture?
Guest wwb_99
Good luck on the network. Mine drives me nuts at times. I am also another of a strange breed: a DC native. In my current office, looking out over a lovely Dupont back alley (where they filmed part of Hollow Man but that it beside the point), I am less than a mile from the very spot where I was hatched, er, I mean birthed. For the record, I live in Chevy Chase, MD. The trip to Aberdeen sounds like a cool idea. I do have a few suggestions: 1) Wait until it is a humane temperature outside. 2) Invite our Baltimore/Philly/S. Jersy/Delaware and anyone else who happens to live within an hour or two of the are kin out, as it is relatively close to there too, such as Croda.
