  1. It downloaded as a RAR file. What can I play an RAR file on? I downloaded the above codexes to no avail.
  2. You may be Swedish, but that was a classic example of British understatement.
  3. Good, I'll only have to read the rantings of insufferable "if it doesn't have this it’s caca" heads for another month or so. Of course the rantings won't end there but at least there'll be people who have actually played the game that can put some balance to all this.
  4. This is the first game I've really been excited about in years; however, I really hope the game doesn't go too simplistic on armor penetration. I don't expect CM ballistics accuracy but it would be good if you could look into how the game handles armor slope and angle of attack. Even if it's a simplified system I'd very much like this game to take these two values into account.
  5. I'm new to this particular game and I was wondering how to deal with places such as Malta. I could not find a way to invade it by air or sea. You can surround it with battleships, bombard it forever, and the garrison stays at eight. Amphibious transports would not unload and airborne units would not drop. In my experience a single corps held out for over a year in Alexandria in spite of being completely surrounded - from land and sea and attacked by far superior forces. It remained in full supply while my forces suffered supply blockage almost every turn - because of Malta. Any suggestions on how to crack these nuts would be appreciated.
  6. For the U.S. I assume it will be missing the M24 Chaffee, the M18 Hellcat, and probably the M26 Pershing. Maybe the recoilless rifles. These are my assumptions only. I don't know what parts of the German tin can armada would be missing as compared to NWE, nor am I speculating about other Allies. Even if I'm correct, there is likely to be so much overlap that I doubt I'll miss any of the above. With the right map I can be happily in France 1944 just like with the right CM:BO maps I am happily in Italy in 1943. Hell, as long as I'm happily not on the East Front somewhere, I'll be happily happy, happiness-wise. -dale </font>
  7. There's got to be a balance between playing the game, and keeping an eye on the board. Downloading patch now.
  8. I'd love to come, but I've escaped the beltway. It's too far a drive from Anchorage Alaska. Irronically I think I brought Maryland weather with me. It's been raining off and on for a week now.
  9. I'm finally getting settled in a bit in Anchorage. Treeburts, can you put me on a replacement list or somefink? I can't beleive I missed this!
  10. Talk about flashbacks. I must have played that map 50 times.
  11. Spoiler Alert: . . . . . . . . I was playing Desperate Measures as the Germans PBEM, and noticed a significant change in A.I. behavior. The Russians lost no less than three tanks to panzerfausts from my advancing troops. In CMBO I'd rarely see the German troops use panzerfausts unless they were not under fire at all, and they had a clear rear shot. My troops were taking out tanks under fire from unknown locations, Woot!
  12. I think the bigger worry would be downsampleing due to the large memmory requirements of the mods. Does anyone know the memory requirements for a stock T34? I'd like to compare the number to available mods.
  13. Being in the niche market BFC is aiming at, my reaction to CMBB has been two-fold. My first reaction is "this is great", and second, this might not have as broad appeal as CMBO because of the slower pace required. CMBB is not as forgiving to hasty tactics and mistakes as CMBO. Having said that, reading Steve's post reminded me that most of the people who I showed CMBO to that had a negative reaction to it, would also have a negative reaction to CMBB; therefore, I didn't bother introducing CMBB to them - with the noted exception of old wargaming buddies of mine. Some very old wargaming buddies of mine wrote CMBO off as "having potential." These same guys have taken to CMBB. Why? Because in there eyes, the game has matured into the potential they were hoping for. This does not invalidate Stephen’s reaction to the game of course. CMBB is more demanding than CMBB IMHO, as well as many others. This will appeal more to some than others.
  14. Unmentioned possible outcome: the thread only serves to demonstrate that to hit calculations are complex enough, with enough variables to require a huge sample to get the margin of error down to less than 1% Just my 2cents.
  15. Eduardo Zacarias: Perhaps Eduardo can join the mod community and convert the Robin background noises into this: %20-%20Bodies.mp3]http://www.mp3dimension.com/dl/1423/[Drowning%20Pool]%20-%20Bodies.mp3 Not only will it relate to his generation, there's something about "Bodies" that just fits organized mayhem. P.S. WARNING I first heard this song watching the movie "The One." Although no profanity is used, its portrait of psychopathic violence is not for everyone. Listener discretion is advised. 16. I've tried this several times, and I'm able to import the map, but no option to import the troops is given. I thought it was a slip of the tongue when Madmatt said you could import trooops, but there it is in the manual, and evidently it's an option, but I can't get it to work. What am I doing wrong?</font>
