weapon2010
How would a tank crew well away from their knocked out tank be able to call in Arty? yes when they are in functional tank with radio it makes sense.
Halmbarte
Emergency heliograph? Semaphore? Flare pistol? I'd agree that's probably a bug since I wouldn't expect dismounted tank crews to have radios except maybe in BS. H

How does a single Soviet Engineer Squad leader WW2 call in artillery? (only mortars) It is something HQs can do. It is just poorly modelled with a hypothetical field telephone or some other means. We just don't play like that; you need a commonsense home rule. Yes, the FO can have a hypothetical field telephone, but it is just more realistic if it is close to a unit with a radio.

It, clearly, looks goofy in your situation though.
Anthony P.
I can't imagine that it's actually intended for tank crews to have access to field telephones.
Centurian52
An abstraction meant to eliminate some unrealistic edge cases, which has unfortunately created some new unrealistic edge cases. I recall Steve mentioning something about this sort of thing a long long time ago. Something about tail chasing?
