Just bought the above which includes CMBO - Does it contain all the patches?

Yes for CMBO and CMBB, but you will need to download the latest 1.03 patch for CMAK.

Cheers Moon - will download it. Also, do you know if I can get a patch to alter the waffen units back to SS? As I understand, because the anthology was a european release I know they changed the name to take out any Nazi references Also there are no swasitka's. But I want to put it back...any ideas????

As for the graphics, you'll have to look for mods to replace the off-CD game graphics. As for changing the name in-game, I don't know.

There are mods to replace the flags with swastika flags, and mods to replace the little unit icons with the ss runes and swastikas in the scenario screen.

As for "waffen granadier" In the unit names, I believe this cannot be changed in CMBO but can be changed with a user made patch in CMBB and CMAK.

www.combatmission.com has all the flags and stuff I think. www.cmmods.com will probably have the rest.

Which brings up an interesting historic question... would swastikas actually be the correct iconography to represent troop positions?

Or would the Balkenkreuz been used? After all, it was the national identification sign, both before, during, and after WWII (and to this day).

I don't really know. Anyone?

Can't really answer this sorry, but on all the photo's I have seen, panzer's would drape a Swastika flag, for aerial recognition - Never a balkenkreuz?

Also, I still can't believe that the sight of a Swastika would turn me into a Nazi?

Oddly enough, I actually prefer the balkenkreuz as a German hidden unit marker. I think the swastika would be appropriate if the Germans in a particular scenario are SS troops or maybe Fallschirmjaeger, but I know too many WWII German veterans who were simply patriotic Germans doing what they perceived as their duty, even though they couldn't stand Hitler's politics. Without straying too close to the fortunately defunct political forum, there are a lot of Americans in Iraq who are Democrats -- imagine how they would feel fifty years from now if someone used the Repulbican elephant as their hidden unit marker just because the republicans happened to be running the country.

The analogy is weak, of course, because the Nazi party symbol got elevated to a national symbol as well. But I think that either the balkenkreuz or the iron cross (in either its bowdlerized or WWII-era version) make very good inclusive national symbols for all branches of the service. And they're very good designs, too.

You might want to take a look at the different options available in the CMMOS vexillography mod over at CMHQ if you're interested in the Reichskriegflagge or the Hakenkreuzfahne. You should also take a look at Juju's German flag pack as well. Note that the iron cross and the balkenkreuz are both included in the design of the most all-inclusive German flag, the Reichskriegfanhne (National War Flag). You might also want to take a look at Mark Gallear's mod site.

Very strange CMBB being version 1.0 in the 3 pack!

I have the CDV "Special Edition" CMBB that already was updated with all the patches that I bought over a year ago!

Yeah thats strange but as far as i know the special edition nedds 2 CD´s and was only published in the USA. I think that CDV just wanted to get rid of their old CMBB CD´s.

I was referring to the screen where you select the battles.

Instead of a WG icon it replaces ss runes. I think it also puts in new icons for FG and VS.

As for the in-game unit markers, I suppose the balkenkreuz would correspond to the star and circle for US and british troops rather than a swatika.

Mark Gallear's website has a great assortment of increasingly baroque and quite groggy icon sets for the menu screen for CMBB. He also has the de-bowdlerization patches. Well worth a visit.

The CDV "Special Edition" is on one CD,although you do get an "extra" CD with the package containing many mods for the game!

As far as i konw CDV has never published a special edition. Maybe i am wrong but i know for sure that the anthology includes only the 1.00 version of CMBB.

I have both CDV "Special Editions" of CMBO and CMBB bought at my local EB games over a year ago.

I have seen CMBO SE at Best Buy for 14.95 just a few weeks ago.

For newbies I suggest getting CMBO alone or in the anthology pack just in case you ever want to convert a CMBO map to CMBB or CMAK with Pyewacket's Map Converter Tool.

For the prices I am seeing posted it is nice to have the whole set.
