Ze Skunk
Hi, does the javelin can work with a spotter equipped with a laser designator...? In other words, does a guy equipped with a javelin can target a vehicule (designated with a LD) that he has no LOS? Maybe i played too much Battlefield...

BlackMoria
I wouldn't say you play too much Battlefield. It is just the the representation of vehicles and support weapons in Battlefield isn't based on reality except superficially. Ze Skunk
I know the unrealistic side of BF, as the fact it takes 20 bullets to kill a guy... just joking
gunnersman
In CM: Black Sea The Javelin has only a Command Launch Unit which has an Infrared Optics. The Missile itself also only has an Infrared seeker. There is not laser seeker. It is a "fire and forget" weapon. Page 90 in the manual.

Javelin actually does have a non-LOS mode, I'm not sure how reliable it is though.
Imperial Grunt
Actually there is no non-LOS mode for the Javelin. The CLU must be able to see the target and get a good 'picture' of the thermal signature of the target. The missile can be fired in either direct attack or top-attack mode, which is selected by the gunner. The missile still climbs a bit in direct attack mode. After launch, if the target moves out of LOS, as long as the missile can still 'see' the target, it will still hit the target- even though the target has moved out of LOS of the gunner. That is the magic of the Jav!

That is the magic of the Jav! So the Javelin is another ATGM system that unfortunately suffers from not being able to fire from beyond cover! Never knew about that capability, very interesting.
