Albe Pavo
Hello! How i do to find and clear minefields? I suppose i have to use combat engineer, that's right? Can i find the mines without taking losses? How to clear the mines one finded? I thougt i have to use the "hunt" command, but if enemy troops are in sight, the engineers suddenly stop.. Thank you!
Erwin
AFAIK - Apparently there is a tiny % probability that an inf unit will spot a minefield. There is a greater % probability that an engineer will. The only way to clear a minefield is to blow enough of it up - by super heavy arty, or running across it with inf or vehicles till they've all been blowed up.
Fizou
Albe Pavo, Once you have detected mines, you use your combat engineers to "mark mines". Once the mines are marked, infantry can move slow, walk over them with a reduced risk of setting them off.
Holien
Also remember that even if mines are marked your vehicles will still set them off so don't drive vehicles over AT mines even if marked!!!
Erwin
Anything can set off mines, moving slow is the "safest" option but not 100%.
MikeyD
In the 'real world' tankers were expected to advance across minefields and accept a certain % of casualties doing it. I can't imagine it was a particularly popular practice. In the game mines are most often used as 'booby trap' harrassment, not as a genuine barrier. When they are used as a barrier its best to plan your attack around them because there's no way clear a reliable path through in the alotted time, beside sending Shermans forward to explode them with the infantry walking in their tracks.
