ridethe415
I searched but couldn't find anything... Two examples. Small MG team, gunner dies, the other guy doesn't pickup the MG. He hasn't moved in minutes. Same situation but with a Faust. If they can share ammo, how much harder is it to pick up a weapon laying right next to you?
mjkerner
Usually, the weapon is destroyed/damaged.
Holman
Right. It's not a sure thing. There's a chance the weapon is salvageable, but it might be wrecked or smeared with the original owner's pixels.
YankeeDog
To expand a bit, soldiers in the game can and will pick up weapons via buddy aid from wounded comrades, and in general they're particularly keen to pick up important weapons like MGs, 'fausts, etc. But the game as a random built in chance that they won't do so. This is presumably intended to reflect situations where the weapon in question is damaged or jammed, the soldier nearby doesn't particularly feel like picking up the squad MG and making himself the primary target for the enemy, etc.
ridethe415
Ok, I thought it would be easier than that, but sorta makes sense.
womble
Ok, I thought it would be easier than that, but sorta makes sense. It may also be that the survivor isn't feeling secure enough to give Buddy Aid to his fallen comrade yet. Or has crawled just into the adjacent Action Spot (and not evolved extensible extremities to reach across yet).
sburke
This is a lesson in just how amazingly smart the tac AI is. That pixeltrooper KNOWS that if he picks up that MG or Faust the odds increase dramatically that you will put him in virtuals harm's way and he's thinking "to hell with that, pick up your own damn mg."
Erwin
It's extra weight as well!
