Broadsword56
I always feel so idiotic posting these "where do I find X unit" questions, but... I've been clicking and clicking everywhere I can think of in the OOB editor, and can't find Mark III tanks. Mark IV yes, Tigers yes, but where are the Mark III? Actually what I want is what the CMFI TO&E page calls a "Mixed Panzer Battalion" (One company of Mark IV and two of Mark III), but I see no listing of that battalion type. Then I thought maybe I should select a medium Panzer battalion, and just select the tank type manually to change them from Mark IVs. But the only options for tank types are other varieties of Mark IV. I'm stumped. Please don't tell me the Mark III wasn't in Sicily and is waiting for CMFI's addon for mainland Italy...I need it for Tunisia!
ChrisND
The Mixed Panzer Battalion, and hence the Mk III, is available for the Luftwaffe only. Check their branch and you'll find it.
Erwin
As helpful as the "auto-historic formation selector" is, I see a lot of questions re where to find certain units. It would be nice if there was an "alternate" editor setting so one could simply cherry pick what one wanted regardless of actual historical formation composition. I know that this will bring the usual wrath down on my head, but I liked the CM1 unit editor... and I speak as someone who spends a HUGE amount of time actually PLAYING CM2 campaigns and scenarios extensively. Sometimes I wonder if there are only a few of us "players" with most critics spending their time nitpicking historical and tech aspects.

I know it is fairly easy to delete what you don't want, I do it all the time. But sometimes I want an extra squad to be under the command of a particular platoon, or an extra platoon under the command of a company. It would be nice to be able to at least select squads and platoons from the Speciaist Teams menu.
MikeyD
But sometimes I want an extra squad to be under the command of a particular platoon, or an extra platoon under the command of a company. If you're talking QBs, you select your TO&E force then select the unit folder you want to command any additional forces. You can then go into specialist teams or Individual vehicles pull-down menu and select whatever you want. Last time I tried all of the specialists were included in that selected platoon's chain of command.
JonS
I know that this will bring the usual wrath down on my head, but I liked the CM1 unit editor Go have a proper look at it sometime. There are no - zero, zip, nada - armour formations in any CMx1 game. There is also an embarassingly thin selection of infantry-type formations. The only nice thing about the CMx1 unit editor was its bone-headed simplicity. It would be nice if there was an "alternate" editor setting so one could simply cherry pick what one wanted regardless of actual historical formation composition. Yeah, perhaps. But someone would still have to create (and test, and debug)all those cherry-pick-able orgns, which is non-trivial in itself. But perhaps the biggest stumbling block is that BFC have repeatedly said they have little desire to allow anyone to create fantasy-football style units (although, the 'attach' function does allow an astonishing - and highly loveable - ability to customise units).

True, but it's also true that you can't add a whole 'nother platoon. Also, bog-standard rifle sections are not included in the list of Specialist Teams. (Which does make sense, since rifle sections are not a team, and aren't specialist either)
