Erwin
To modders re markings etc: One can see ranks on some clearly, but whether Germans or US, I found it impossible to determine divisional markings etc. http://life.time.com/history/before-and-after-d-day-in-color/#1
mjkerner
Not sure what you're seeing, Erwin. I only found one guy in one picture (#25 of 27) who was wearing a shoulder/div patch. You can make out clearly that it's a shoulder patch, but focus and distance make it fuzzy. But it is clearly there...then again, it's a church service/blessing, so it is not clear how close they are to the front, or what kind of unit it is.
Mord
What's the problem? What are you saying? You didn't see any division patches so there shouldn't be any? I don't get it. Mord.
sburke
how many of those pics were actually folks assigned directly to divisions? Seems like most are rear area and support personnel.
Darknight (DC)
Wartime censors obliterated/obfuscated a lot of the markings in pictures of Commonwealth troops, but the markings were actually quite prevalent (on uniforms and vehicles).
