  1. I will take you on if you are willing to take on a CM2 PBEM newbie. I have been playing CW, BS and just bought SF2. I also prefer the smaller and medium sized battles. I haven't tried quick battles but I suspect it might produce some fun battles. Also I haven't done a CM2 pbem yet. So I will need to figure that out but I am guessing it can't be too difficult. When playing the AI, I try to play within the spirit of the game and kind of role play. Although I am can play anything goes as well. Anyway, if you are up to playing a PBEM newbie, I am your guy. If you prefer someone PBEM experienced, no problem.
  2. Problem solved! The hotkey file was stored in the User Data folder in the Slitherine/Matrix version. As suggested by John at BF, I made a copy of the file and placed it in the Data folder. And now all is now good! Play my first scenario tonight.
  3. I did pull up the list of hotkeys in game for SF2. They are organized quite a bit differently from CW or BS or even the SF2 demo. I am not sure why they are different but I tried some of the different hotkeys and some work and some don't. SF2 is game engine 4 just as the SF2 demo.
  4. No, I doublechecked with CW and the SF2 demo and the hotkeys worked. I opened a help desk ticket.
  5. Ok, just uninstalled and reinstalled SF2 main game. Same problem except left and right click drag mouse works. WSAD and other mapview controls do not work. CW and BS and SF2 demo all work fine.
  6. It is definitely CMSF2. I bought it a couple days ago and installed CMSF2 and all the modules. I am guessing a bad install but odd because everything seems to work fine except the hotkeys. Makes me wonder if there is some small little quirk needed correction vs the need to uninstall and reinstall everything.
  7. Odd, everything works fine in the Shock Force demo. There is a hotkey text file in Shock Force 2 which matches the CW/BS hotkey configuration I need. Hotkeys work fine with CW/BS/SF2 demo but not working with Shock Force 2 game. Weird.
  8. Ok, about to start my first SF game and the hotkeys have me completely confused. I want the same hotkey configuration as CW and BS. The first keys I noticed as not working are the reverse keys and the rotate keys and the move forward, back, left, right keys. Apparently the keys can be setup. When I look at the hotkeys list, it indicates that 1-9 arrow keys apply to those movements. But they don't appear to perform the same movements as in CW and BS. And none of the keys appear to produce reverse view or reverse direction. So I went to options to see if I can manually assign hotkeys to match CW and BS but I am not given the option to pull up a list of the map view commands I need and then assign keys. What am I missing here? Is there anywhere a set of clear directions for assigning hotkeys in particular for the list of map view commands? Also I notice left and right click mouse drag does not appear to work.
  9. I just recently had a dragon hit one of my T-62s. Gun knocked out but tank fine.
  10. Interesting white rolled up "blanket, coat??" on the infantry's back. That would make a nice mod.
  11. So is this temporarily missing radio a bug or a feature? If it applies to the Soviets, I would guess it should apply to the US and allies at some rate as well.
  12. I think I am going to take the town objective. I have managed to get one scout car and 2 T-62s across the bridge without any TOW or Dragon fire. The rest of the tank company should follow shortly and I still have 19 minutes left in the game. Of course, every time I seem to make progress, a new obstacle brings the hammer down. ----spoilers------------ My 2 infantry squads and the platoon leader that first crossed the bridge and then were pinned down by AGL and HMG fire did get hammered by heavy artillery-at least 155mm. Out of those 15 men only 3 survived. One spotting round and next turn, full barrage. All of my infantry but one platoon in reserve has been shot to pieces by this point. A fair number of losses amongst scout cars and BTRs. And there is still one Bradley covering both exit roads on the left which means I can't get the reserve platoon deployed until that Bradley is taken out.
  13. Hah!!! Got a scout car across the bridge without smoke. One explosion about 20-30 meters off while it was still around the middle of the bridge. At first, I thought it was a TOW but I couldn't spot a missile track and it was a huge explosion. I think it was a spotting shot from 155mm artillery...I think. So I am considering trying to get a tank across. That AGL is now hitting my infantry across the bridge and I need to take it out. If I can get a tank across the bridge, it will take out both the HMG and AGL. HMG is one thing but an AGL is much worse. Smoke is not scheduled to land for another 7 or 8 minutes. Spoiler...Also I had to put 120mm mortar fire on the same spot as that Bradley on top of the high hill because it turns out there was an infantry TOW at the same location. The 120mm Mtr barrage landed one hit on the already destroyed Bradley and got a top penetration. The Bradley is now double destroyed. Don't know if it took out the TOW.
  14. There are two risks. The real power lies in the T-62 tank company. However to get them into action, they have to cross the bridge. The first risk is a tank destroyed on the bridge blocking all other tanks from crossing. The second risk is taking so many losses crossing the bridge that it impacts victory level. Regardless I will use smoke and see if I can get some tanks across and into hopefully some dead ground on my left. But I am not crossing them unless I feel there is some hope of success.
  15. Well, I bought it. I have an ongoing CW scenario I need to finish and then I will try out my first Shock Force game. I have been rotating between BS and CW scenarios and now I need to insert SF into the rotation.
  16. That could be the explanation.
  17. I am anticipating some level of victory simply because I have destroyed the mass of the armor. But my sights are still set on taking that town objective but I may not be able to achieve that. Still 27 minutes to go and time will tell.
  18. I am down to 27 minutes left in this scenario. I suspect I will probably get some sort of victory but I would rank this one as similar to some of those really difficult Black Sea scenarios. If you stick up your head, it gets shot off. Spoilers--- Down to 27 minutes and I still have not been able to use vehicle firepower whether tank or BTR. Every attempt has resulted in destroyed vehicles. I have managed to take out all the M60s and Bradleys with my ATGMs but one Bradley...hopefully. Also there could still be an effective M-60 somewhere. However then I discovered masses of infantry dragons and at least one dismounted TOW. I believe a minimum of 6 dragons. Far more than I would expect from a platoon of infantry. I have taken out several dragons with infantry and artillery but I am also running out of artillery. At this point, there is still at least one dragon and one dismounted TOW covering the bridge and possibly one other dragon. Mortar fire is no guarantee of a destroyed ATGM. I hit one behind a wall fairly heavily with mortar and spotted again later and not one casualty. So basically I have resigned myself to an infantry advance from the left ridges to the objective and it has to from my left. I did get an infantry platoon across the bridge but then discovered a dismounted HMG with flanking fire on the far side of the bridge. There is also an AGL which should be able to put firepower into that same area but hasn't yet. Without vehicle firepower that platoon can't neutralize that HMG or the AGL if it opens fire. I will put smoke on those two identified ATGMs and try to rush some tanks across the bridge and hopefully find some dead ground not covered by ATGMs but I don't have high hopes and time is running out. But if I can get a couple tanks across and keep them alive, even with only 15 minutes left, they could help tremendously. So the main assault will be infantry on my left and they have a lot of ground to cover and the last Bradley and possibly an M-60. This is, IMO, a high difficulty scenario and how much you enjoy it will depend on how much you enjoy a very tough challenge.
  19. Looks like a mistake on my part. I went through every platoon HQ and they all appear to have radios. I did lose one HQ but again, I think a mistake on my part. Odd because I was pretty sure I saw HQs without radios.
  20. I have been playing the Czechmate scenario. In dismounting some USSR platoons, I have noticed some platoon HQs are lacking radios. The carriers have radios but not the dismounted infantry HQ. Is that normal?
  21. Yes, I started with Black Sea and it does tend to put the spirit of caution into any rational commander. CW is a little more forgiving but not a lot more forgiving.
  22. Well it looks clear to me that a 120mm mortar barrage is a threat to a cold war Bradley. AI might not run from a barrage but I won't keep my Bradleys in place if a barrage comes their way.
  23. Yes I could but I suspect setting up a test scenario might be a better expenditure of time. And Demo, earlier in the thread, mentioned doing a test with some success with 120mm vs Bradley.
  24. Well what is interesting as I did the turn tonight, I started looking at LOS at the back of the map near my Spigots. I can actually get a LOS to that Bradley with a fairly quick redeployment. That's great. I should be able to get some shots off fairly quickly. I still have the artillery plotted but I suspect one of my Spigots might knock it out first if I can get that LOS. So I may not find out in this case whether artillery will take out that Bradley.
  25. Thanks all. I have been wondering how best to describe CW and BS and immersive is pretty accurate. Sort of like watching a movie but I am the director. I think I will try out the SF demo and then make my decision. If SF also has immersion, I am getting it.
