If you defend your country, you fight like you do when you protect your mother. If you try to rob the bank you soon get away when the cops arrive. The defender like this war in the Ukraine has the moral high ground. Kudos to the soldiers who fight for the Ukraine feel sorry for the conscripts facing these warriors.

BATTLE DRILL - A CM Tactics Blog
chuckdyke replied to Bil Hardenberger's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Command and Control has been a topic in the news lately. For HQ's situational awareness is vital, not hard to achieve in CM. Make sure your scouts have an overwatch from someone with a radio and binoculars. The Regimental HQ is aware of the foxhole before the scout. The game is more enjoyable if you just stick to what is possible in RL. However, the scout morale went pummeled to nervous. No need to regard a scout as cannon fodder. It may be a little bit rich that the Regimental HQ was updated during the same turn. -
Variation of the Stockholm syndrome. If we see this war as a robbery on a grand scale.

Claims and evidence are quite different. On a lighter note, Cubans were performing better in Africa than the Russians do today. I wonder or they will show up in the Ukraine.

Why no Russian Bazooka or Schrek?
chuckdyke replied to weapon2010's topic in CM Red Thunder Maps and Mods
The Soviet captured plenty of Panzerfausts. -
You know the difference between 'The Kremlin' and a psychopath asylum? Answer: There is none. Their politics are starting to make sense now.

Why no Russian Bazooka or Schrek?

They had a thing called the SU100. -
Anything on social media could have been Photoshopped.

Yes, they didn't contract anything out. I also liked the posters the enemy listens. Impossible now with the internet.

They say don't fight this war like you fought the last war. There is one exception logistics. There is an opportunity not to rely on made in China. Here is how they won WW2 and WW3 will be won the same way.

Also I found it is a worthwhile tactic to fire at a tank when it is a strong tentative contact. Another plus when you have infantry riders on your tank. Their full contact becomes a tentative contact for the tank they are on. When you have the numbers like on Seelow it is worth to try it out yourself.
-
You need infantry to spot, tank vs tank is worse. With a T34/85 you need to be under 1000 metres to have a chance and better below 500 metres. I know the scenario you talk about. The Russian 85mm is not on par with the US 76 mm if the latter uses HVAP ammo. For me German Cats apart from the Lynx overwhelm them and penetrate from the side or rear.

Be a little more modest and purchase a universal carrier. It was extremely useful on the farm.

I thought these things cost something like a few million.

Is the download slow for everyone or is it just me?
chuckdyke replied to Heinz-Fiction's topic in CM2 General Tech Support
I had the same but that was years ago. It was an internet link which went through China. -
Made in China these tires. I think relations between Ukraine and Bejing may improve. A stealth mission by special forces couldn't have done it better.

Jack In The Box Effect - Russian Tanks
chuckdyke replied to CanuckGamer's topic in Combat Mission Cold War
It relies on combined arms warfare on its own a Kornet will knock it out. The game models it very well. The same for a Javelin or NLAW the odds the crew surviving are better. The Russians rely on a conscript army, as outdated as Napoleon who introduced it. If your army doesn't believe in attrition the morale improves. -
Soviet economy during the Cold War. It is not as good as last year but better than next year. For some reason they expelled 'The Times' correspondent. No good appealing to a sense of humor.
-
Required possibly in an isolated fire base. Depends on the mission.

Artillery equally as terrifying is far more efficient. The effect of gas: it contaminated the uniforms and left skin conditions which were hard to treat. Gas lingers on in trenches. The same will go for nuclear weapons, contaminated soil will be thrown into the air and will rain back on the earth. Imagine you win a battle after chemical and nuclear strikes. Your troops will be confined in their positive pressurized environments. Outside the conditions are toxic, conventional weapons maybe far more efficient to achieve your aims. I think NATO will retaliate against tactical nuclear warfare with overwhelming conventional means on the launching sites inside Russia. If putin goes one step further, there will be no winners Russia will vaporize the West will suffer horrific losses but will prevail in the long term.

Albert Pierpoint's words "They will die, and they will pay the price and they will have a proper funeral. This was the case for this man. Albert Pierpoint hanged some of the worst war criminals.
