  1. Thats the point, the accuracy is to high if you consider how much easier it is in CM to spot Inf. Take that and the "bunching up" and "conga lines" and you need to really town down small arms accuracy to get semi-realistic results.
  2. Actually small arms are not too accurate but the bunching up of infantry in CM means that accuracy needs to be toned down a bit the get realistic results.
  3. As i said, some tweaking would maybe be enough. Just make Inf a bit less Rambo, increase the effects of supression and decrease accuracy a bit for small arms. If you want to have a real good modelling of time and space in combat and want to scream at the monitor because your attacking Bn has again bogged down then there is a other game i cant mention here...
  4. I dont think so. They always complain about how ninche they are and how "few" customers they have (compared to most other games) and i thin those "few" would like a slower and more realistic combat simulation or at least some tweaking.
  5. Im still not convinced that rubble should give more cover then a intact building. Just because there are examples of troops dug in rubble and putting up a hardcore defense does not mean that rubble gives you more cover against bullets, artillery fire or airstrikes. Oh and i think thats the whole point, rubble can be great cover if you have time to dig in and fortify your positions but thats not in the CM scale. So when i level a building soldiers who are in that rubble should not be as protected and dug in as the green devils in Monte Cassino...
  6. DOes the game modell differend buildings add all ? (wooden/brick)
  7. The bulge game will add something different for sure, no more green summer terrain (CMBN, CW, MG, CMFI, CMRT, CMBS) that looks nearly the same in every game ! Thats why the bulge game will be a instant purchase for me !
  8. Hi ! Do the stock MG scenarios already make use of AI triggers ?
  9. No i think the widecreen mode is for 5:4 or 4:3 monitors that have a very low FOV. With a 16:9 monitor you already have a wide FOV without widescreen mode.
  10. Just to let you know i contacted the helpdesk about this: And now look what the store page for the CMFI+GL Bundle says since yesterday: Thanks Steve !
  11. Meh...Bocage...no one wants to fight in Bocage, not even Armchair Generals.
  12. CMBS is most likely the most complicated of them all, you just have so many things you need to think about before you make your move and even more things that will kill you in a second. APS, ATGM's, PPHE, Electronic Warfare, Laser Warnings, UAV's, Sam's, ENVG, Amphibious vehicles, ERA, Electro-Optical Jamming...
  13. @ panzersaurkrautwerfer That you as a former or active soldier have such a odd way of thinking..."continued German resistance"..."died faster or surrendered"..."It's not like anything they ultimately did was relevant to the outcome of the war". Do you know how the military works, do you know how conscript armies work ?! What you dont realize is that you bring as much false emotions and grimness into the discussion as the people talking about "superior" german soldiers. If you hatered for every german soldier and civilian is really that unlimited then i pity you. One would think someone like you had a much more objective viewpoint...at least after 70 years. I met many american and french soldiers and WW2 veterans during D-Day and other commemorations, no one displayed any hatred like you do and we (German/American/French Soldiers) showed our respect to every one who died or suffered during the tragedy called WW2. So take your insults and hatred somewhere else !
  14. The Gebirgsjäger of late 1944 and 1945 had little to do with "Gebirge" anyway, just like the late war Fallschirmjäger Divisions.
  15. I dont say its the perfect solution, its just a way how it maybe could work, or not. Only BFC's knows that and even if it would be possible to include Area Fire for the AI maybe they dont want to include it because they fear the amount of work.
  16. ...maybe the "Area" (map position) ? I think thats why its called "Area Fire".
  17. http://www2.ati.com/drivers/beta/amd-catalyst-15.3beta-64bit-win7-mar20.exe or http://www2.ati.com/drivers/beta/amd-catalyst-15.3beta-64bit-win8.1-mar20.exe
  18. Did i ever said that the AI should target the Icon ?! I wrote (two times) that the position at which the icon gets spawned (the position on the map, the position not the icon, the position, no not the icon) could be used for a area fire order.
  19. Sorry but you dont understand what i wrote... If the engine knows to spawn a icon at position XY it also could use this position for a area fire order if the AI would be coded in a way to allow that (i think the AI has the same options as the player so area fire should be possible).
  20. Sorry but this comment is just offensive and stupid ! The majority of German/Russian/US/British/Japanese losses happened when they were "Vastly outnumbered and outgunned"... Thats how it works and has nothing to do with being American or German. Is that some kind of insult ? Whats you problem ? Sadly i can not downvote your post but you would deserve it.
  21. Exactly what i think ! Supression goes away too quick, i remember all those times i had fired 88mm HE into enemy occupied buildings but the supression was gone in 30sec or something and they started firing at my Infantry again. - The effects of Suppression need to last longer - Morale should decrease quicker and take longer to recover but... - Panic should not happen that fast like currently
  22. Why did it not work ? Can you explain what was the problem please ?
  23. Thats what YOU see but the engine, the code, see things a bit different. Im sure even a "suspected contact" (?) icon gives some kind of integer or something else relative to the position on which it appears (how else would the "game" know that it had to spawn that icon on this position ?) so you just had to code the AI in a way that it, at times, uses a area fire command on such a location.
  24. Is suspect BFC has coded the engine into a "corner" from where there is no way out without changing significant amounts of code. Everyone who knows something about coding knows what im talking about, the engine as it is now is most like a huge pile code which they already tinkered here and there. Every programmer knows when he gets this feeling..."**** i have no clue why this is not working"..."**** i will have to start fresh". I suspect thats the case for the CMx2 engine, its a old rag rug. As fry30 said, they most likely would at least need a hire a small team to come in and analyze the game and its code for blemishes and omissions. But again, like he said..don't expect anything from BF. CMx2 is their "cash cow" (no offense !) until they can start fresh with CMx3.
