  1. I would gladly command the defensive operation! Unless the CO deems it a forlorn hope and we must withdraw...
  2. That ATG that was so close behind the building was a bit of a surprise.....we knew it was back there somewhere, but an unlikely position. Damn them for not following the rules
  3. If I may, the Canadians who liberated the Netherlands faced an almost insurmountable task, and they paid dearly for it. The terrain was largely flat and laced with polders (reclaimed farming land from the sea), broken up only by dikes. The roads/dikes were elevated from the "regular" land, so you can imagine any vehicle moving along them would be a sitting target for ATGs....and historically they were. Towns were few and far between. Mainly small isolated farming communities/settlements with the exception of the notable built up areas like Amsterdam, Nijmegen, etc. The Canadian solution was to pound a target with HE and smoke, leave the tanks well behind to provide support fire from the hull down positions behind the dikes, and storm an enemy position with infantry and the Wasp flamethrowing carriers, which were hugely effective from both a psychological and damaging aspect. I am surprised they were not included with the new flamethrowing vehicles, because the Canadians and Brits used them extensively after D-Day. There, my two cents worth
  4. I am sure you commanders have seen it...but there is a new ATG lurking in the enemy rear area, to the front of Combat Team Stonecutter
  5. Thanks Ian....I didn't realise that sound mods were an issue, since visual mods always worked for me. Cheers!
  6. Hey guys. I have tried using Jorge's "Cross of Iron Theme Hänschen klein" music mod but it isn't working. I have placed it in the z folder like all the other mods, but the original score still plays and not this great song from the movie. I am using an iMac with latest OS in case that matters. I have tried deleting and re-installing the mod a couple of times with no success. Ideas?
  7. Did we find the good German leader in the pile of dead? Or is he captured? Escaped?
  8. Hey Koh, just confirming that Ian's battle was in the northenmost hex, west of the city?
  9. Nice AAR Ian. I have been watching the movies and following along. That's a great screenshot of the soldier in the church shooting the MG42 gunner!
  10. OK I totally missed out on this and I am interested. I just registered for that website too. Thanks Koh
  11. The German infantry in front of A Coy are few and some are fleeing - ideal for the role of ACs to pursue and chase them down. I think we have only two ACs left and unfortunately they are on the wrong side of the map. Are there any bren carriers close? Or for that matter, some hunting teams in universal carriers? I would rather not see the Germans being able to flee into San Leonardo where they will become a larger issue in future
  12. I hope we don't come across the dreaded Sturm Donkey, better known as Donkeyfaust!
  13. I came across this photo of members of the 48th Highlanders of Canada about to attack San Leonardo...how fitting!
  14. Well done Frankie! I'm watching from Calgary...back home Monday night. I will be able to watch the movies when I return. Great AAR!
  15. Watching from Calgary this week.....hope that tank gets to withdraw! What crew was in the knocked out tank, and did they survive? Hopefully not Jeremy!
  16. I have two turns I am about to write up and the lunch pin gun is dealt with but I am still having issues with the one in the woods. I meant the one in the woods...when it goes you seem to have free reign on that side
  17. Good house clearing technique on the left , Ian. I see that ATG is still giving you problems...that gun is the linch pin of his defence right now...once it is toast he loses the town on the right. Good hunting!
  18. Welcome back Kuderian, hope you had a good one Ok gents, tonight I am heading to Calgary for a week; back next Monday. I will be able to receive emails and check on the forum here, but alas, I will not be able to watch the movies until I get back. Keep up the pressure on the foe....A Coy appears to have a good, almost clear route to the town now that the panzers have re-deployed. Hopefully Combat Team Stonecutter will be able to deal with those panzers in the next 5 minutes or so. D Coy can exploit up through the middle to the town and outflank it. Remember: we only have one FOO left (A Coy) although D Coy commander should be able to call in some of the heavy stuff also...speaking of which...Snake_eye: next time you plan your orders, could you click on your commander and the arty button to see what arty is denied and what is not? Cheers guys and good luck!
