  1. OK I have learned something else...when CMH is not open, or the CMH link to the cider file folder in dropbox is erased, the endless "spinning" of dropbox syncing does not happen. Bizarre that this only happens for this particular file folder...solutions anyone?
  2. The dropbox issue has reappeared - but only for the Cider file folder again...do we have a virus?
  3. Ha! I see you have recovered - you have your sense of humour back
  4. Ok the glitch resolved itself after over an hour...not sure why. Ghosts in the Machine
  5. Is anyone else getting this glitch? Dropbox is continually adding and syncing files in the Cider file folder. It repeats constantly. Something is wrong. Anyone else? I have never seen this problem before
  6. I usually take 2-3 hours setting up a defensive position. I have also discovered a bug in the game by doing this, and I will pass it on (verified by CM staff). When you are in set up mode, time does not freeze. So if you spend 3 hours setting up and plotting your first moves, then 3 hours will pass in the game. Implications? I was playing an Italian battle that began approx 05:30/06:00 and it was quite dark. I was planning my defence, taking several hours. Of course time was passing in the game and it became light out (I didn't notice). I was siting my AT guns and MGs etc in broad daylight...had some great killing zones...and then I pressed the red button and everything went dark as the game reverted back to "at start" time. My kill zones disappeared and my support weapons were quite useless. Beware!
  7. Heinrich: He did escape - barely. He had 7 flights of stairs to run down. I swear if he had been delayed 30 more seconds he might not be with us right now. His jeep is speeding along towards the far left side of the map, and currently near the woods where the Shermans are
  8. That is my intention, however most of the crew (maybe all of them) are dead, so it is a moot point, but still I want to see it flame I wish we had more APDS rounds!
  9. 2nd Battle of Dommelin Minutes 9-6 (non-story account) Not much has changed during these three minutes, other than the German advance along the river seems to have been blunted and stopped. See the map below for the current dispositions: Since there was really no story line heroics/disasters after the shooting of the Jagdpanther in the last minute, I thought I would give an overall account of what is going on as if I am just the "gaming guy". So my FOO who was in Dommelin (and who had called a lot of arty/mortar fire down upon the paras from the church tower) decided to flee when he noticed paras VERY close to him. It was a near run thing. The FOO raced downstairs, climbed into the jeep and off he sped towards the remaining Shermans. You can see the icon above, top left in the pic. Those Shermans have been engaging paras since the beginning (and still are) at long range and inflicting significant casualties. They are basically hiding from two Jagdpanthers (see their "ghost" icons in the plowed field, top center of pic). One of those panzers just spotted and fired at one Sherman late in the 6th minute, so I am popping smoke and moving again. Oh, and a Typhoon is on its way to hopefully eliminate those two. Now, the Jadgpanther you can see in the center of the photo was the one Cpl Noble engaged. He thought he killed it until the crew bailed out...but it is still functional. Some (and maybe all) of the crew have been engaged and killed. In any case, I have a two man anti-tank section about to lob grenades at it next turn. Meanwhile the final panzer that you see on the center right of the photo has been advancing alone and looking for juicy targets. Trying to figure out the new German main effort has been problematical. He was advancing paras in some force along the riverbank, but a combo of mortars, arty, and small arms fire has curtailed that. Now he seems to be withdrawing elements in the center towards the right, so I expect a right flanking (his left) is in the mix, although this battle is coming to an end soon so maybe he is just shoring up a hasty defence in Valkenswaard. If that is the case, I am happy with what I did this battle, overall. The main allied force has been largely preserved by my withdrawal, and I have caused significant infantry casualties during his long advance with indirect fire, tank fire, and small arms. He has the advantage so far in tank kills, however, but I managed to get one of those fat MkIVs (for you Heinrich, lol) and I may get some more retribution soon from an aerial friend. One thing is certain: this has been another bloody affair.
  10. As long as there are no attack helicopters on the way I am OK with that "Charlie don't surf, sir!"
  11. Just so I can watch the movies....which will be the first movie file that Greg will receive?
  12. Koh: correct! Greg has this one by himself for a whole hour....then Ian and Frank will arrive in various stages and it will become a 2 player multi (Greg will "retire" and maintain the defence in location) Greg: I sent you a personal email. You are good to go and good luck!
  13. @snake_eye Greg: I have already given orders....scroll back and page and you will find them for the next stage of the operation. Good luck!
  14. 2nd Battle of Dommelin Minutes 11-9 Capt Chappy knew the paras were advancing in numbers along the winding river bank, but it was only now that he caught first glimpse of them. They were an impressive sight with their camouflage uniforms and distinctive helmets. They still bleed. Chappy had placed one of his platoons to guard against such a move, and it was now that the section to the far left opened up on the advancing Germans. Several of them dropped, forever out of the battle, while others hit the dirt. Then Chappy heard the "thunk" of the mortars, soon to be replaced with explosions in and around the German positions next to the river. More died. Will this day ever end? With excitement, he heard the welcome sound of an RAF pilot....one plane was finally on its way here. He glanced out the window and saw the juiciest target for the Typhoon - two Jagdpanthers in an open field. Over the radio he summoned the angels of death from above.... Above: paras advance along the river and are now very close to the Irish positions...here two paras lay dead from the section between the house and the paras Cpl Noble and his 6lber crew were nestled in at the rear left corner of the town of Deelshurk. They knew there was a lone Jagdpanther operating somewhere to their front, but from their current position they couldn't see it. "Move along boys, let's get this gun set up along the wall 20 meters from here. Hurry it up!" The gun was ready for action, and it was easily wheeled along the dirt track behind the stone wall. As they came to a halt and swivelled the gun towards the front, Noble peered through his binoculars and instantly saw the monster not far in from of him. He then heard the crack of the other 6lber gun to his left rear and saw the round splash off the front armour of the panzer. Not ten seconds later a second round slammed into the panzer with similar non effect. But then Noble saw the panzer reverse from the threat of the gun, and then reverse to the left, moving slowly towards the rear in an attempt to reposition. "Fire!" Noble's gunner fired the 6lber gun and the shell slammed into the upper left hull of the panzer...but it kept moving backwards.... Being locked on to the target, Noble ordered, "Load the APDS round!" Armour piercing discarding sabot - the one special round in his arsenal that could cripple one of these things. "Fire!" Again the gunner engaged the panzer that was slowly moving to his right... Above: Noble's crew fires the lone APDS round..... The tungsten round slammed into the upper left hull, but this time the round penetrated deep and the panzer ground to an immediate halt. Noble let the panzer have it with a third round, when he noticed the hatches of the panzer open up and the crew bailed out....but not all of them. The soldiers around him were cheering. We finally got one of those bastards!
  15. Thanks Heinrich! I have some great news that happened in the very next minute....I will add the next couple minutes soon
  16. 2nd Battle of Dommelin Minutes 15-11 Sgt Houston lost view of the two Pak40s; the errant round that struck the tree created a cloud of smoke...and Houston cursed. He signalled Nolan in the other tank to halt and reverse, pointing in the direction of the German ATGs. Houston had a more pressing threat to his left...German paras were swarming forward towards him, and he knew those Jagdpanthers were coming.... Nolan's tank reversed and was about to engage the ATGs when a lone panzerschreck round was fired from out of a building and slammed into the left hull, igniting the stores of 75mm rounds, and creating a massive explosion that vaporised the crew. Houston had no time to grieve. Bullets were impacting on the metal turret, and he quickly closed hatches. The gunner traversed the turret and the turret MG engaged a squad of German paras, eliminating half of them and causing the others to hug the turf. Houston ordered the driver to reverse and turn right....and he noticed yet another panzerscreck crew. With one HE round, the panzerschreck team was blown to pieces.... Above: Houston eliminates another PSchreck team in a cloud of dirt Houston next saw yet ANOTHER panzerschreck team! That has to be the bastardz that got Nolan! His gunner engaged the team, but the round struck past them. His gunner then adjusted the gun elevation, but Houston saw the small trail of smoke from the German bazooka. Wham! With one shot the bomb penetrated the lower hull, killing one of his crew members and knocking his Firefly out of the battle. Houston ejected from the tank and took cover behind it as small arms fire searched him out. he managed a quick glance at his watch...the RAF was late....5 minutes late.....and his flanking manoeuvre that was timed to coincide with it was all for not. Above: Houston's tank has run out of luck....and where are those planes?????? Houston glanced back behind him, towards friendly lines, and he saw the detonations of several small sized mortar rounds. He watched one of the 6lber crews attach the ATG to the carrier and climb inside. As they began to drive off to another location, one of those mortar rounds struck inside the carrier, exploding all of the ammunition inside. Lady Luck has turned against us... Above: a small mortar round lands directly inside the carrier with horrific results, eliminating the 6lber gun Captain Chappy was well aware of the encroaching panzers and paras. They had inflicted lots of casualties on the Germans paras so far, but the tank battle was not going well. He had been assured that two Typhoons were on the way....but they were already 5 minutes late and there was no sign of them Damn fly boys! They get to sleep in their beds every night and comfort our womenfolk. At least they could be on time!!!! Suddenly there were loud explosions out to his far left, and Chappy noticed once again that Kuderian's troop was engaging the advancing paras and taking them down. It was turning out to be one long, bloody day.....for both sides
