  1. Yeah, there is certainly some room for improvement in the artwork. I noted, that the half timbered houses do not look very German. In the Fulda area, I would expect either a full timber frame or none. In the Fulda area a black frame with white fillings, further north a black frame with reddish-brown brick filling. But not too many of such houses anyway. Most have been bombed to ruins sometime earlier anyway.

White camouflaged Leopard tanks on a snowy Luneburger Heide.

Hm, the description says "centered around the Fulda Gap". That's far south of the Luneburger Heide.

And snow? It hardly snows in the Lueneburger Heide (Ok, THIS years winter is different....) Assuming the game is set in summer times, there is little hope of snow. IIRC, back then in the 80's, the Warsaw Pact planned to be in Antwerp in four days or so. But let's hope for the modders!

Yeah, I know, but the type of landscape isn't that different and type of trees etc.

Ouch, that would hurt everybody living near Fulda...

The main difference: The landscape near Berlin and towards the east is pretty flat, around Fulda it is pretty hilly. That's why the Fulda Gap was the most likely approach way...

In terms of vegetation: Around Berlin the soil is quite sandy, so you would mostly see open woods with birch trees. They don't have that near Fulda.

But I agree, if you see it from a distance, it may look not too different.

Is it a scenario that comes with the game or a custom made one?

It comes with the game and is, indeed, pretty good. I played it a while ago against a newby and like it quite much. Large map, small forces, plenty of approaches for the Germans. Unfortunately, my oppo dropped out, before things would become really hot.

Correct. You have to have Game Engine 4 for Fire and Rubble but it is not included in Fire and Rubble. Just like Rome to Victory. Game Engine 2 was required for the Market Garden module back in the day, when Game Engine 2 was the newest. And Game Engine 3 was required for the CMBN Battle Pack and Vehicle Packs. And Game Engine 4 was required for the CMBS Battle Pack. The new modules and Packs are built using the most recent game engines.

Ah, sorry, my mistake. I mixed up Game Engine 4  and Version 2 once again. All clear now.

This happened with Black Sea because there was no way around it in the short timeframe that we had. Assume that what happened with Black Sea will be the exception and not the norm. Will it work out that way or not? Hard to tell at the moment. The next title slated for Steam is CMBN. I don't think there is a firm date for CMRT on Steam yet but if someone wants to see if they can save 10 bucks by waiting until it is on Steam that's their call. I spent $9.61 on 2 cookies and 2 bownies at Chick-fil-a last night. 🙂

And yes, as rathdeath said, having a Game Engine 4 version of Red Thunder is required for Fire and Rubble.

I.e., the V4 is not included in Fire&Rubble?

I think unfortunately it probably is.  And I agree with your desciptive language 😉.

When I bought RT perhaps 6 or 7 months ago I was charged $60.  Now, before I log in to BFC (so my location is unknown) it is still $60.  When I log in it knows I'm in the UK and shows me $72.

    Yet another of Boris' 'benefits'.

Edit: As an after-thought perhaps our friends in countries outside the EU could confirm the price they are offered?  Of course they may have a trade deal 😁.

Hmm, can‘t you discount the VAT somehow from the famous 350 million per week, which you now save elsewhere? 🧐🤔

So the diagram shows what the suspension would look like with the wooden skid.  Now I'm not an expert in tank suspension, but from what I can tell there were six road wheels arranged in pairs on each side.  I guess each pair of road wheels would be a bogey?  So the picture shows two road wheels from a pair and there is a smaller center round thing between the two road wheels that he has identified as the 'Rollenwagen / Idler Arm'.  I'm guessing that what he is referring to as the Idler Arm is the part that attaches each bogey to the body of the Elephant and upon which the bogey is centered.  Actually scratch that - because it shows the part that attaches the wheel to the center round part behind the roadwheel, so I think that is what is the idler arm although I'm not certain (one half of the bogey).  It shows the front roadwheel as still mounted to the 'idler arm' or 'bogey' not sure which and then the road wheel behind that is removed.  It shows 'free hub' where the missing roadwheel would have been and attached to the free hub is a wooden skid with a notch in it where the free hub 'Freie Nabe' sets.  So looking at your sketch for Fig 1 - I think the center round part would be 15 (or III).  I think the idler arm might be 13.  I don't see 16 in the diagram, but it might be there and he just didn't draw it (don't know).  It seems like 16 would be the likely part to have bent, but I don't know.  The Free Hub would be number 5 in figure 1 so that's the wheel that would have been removed.

Yep, from reading the account, I had the impression that it is more a translation issue. Probably the writer of the original account was not a technically expert, but tried to use technical terms and than the text was translated to English by another „non-expert“. Such texts usually need some „creative interpretation“ to decipher them. I see those things almost daily, when clients try to describe what their problem is.

Totally understand, a certain grape fermentation has been part of this evening's procedures here 👍.  Without comparing stock lists of campaigns with personal 'collections' it is not so easy anyway.  @StieliAlpha and I did it recently with mods, for which I am still indebted to him ❤️.

    Thanks for mentioning that.

Your previous query reminds me too: Quite a long time ago, say 2 or 3 years, I have seen a „complete“ list of CMBN scenarios and campaigns here in the forum. Very nicely done, even with download links. Probably, it is meanwhile outdated in terms of new content, but I guess the harder to find old stuff is more interesting for you anyway.

Right now, I can‘t remember who made the list, but I may be able to find the thread.

No TC makes quite the difference in spotting and situational awareness. Although I never played CM1 and the tank in question will indeed continue to operate without issue, especially if not in tank duels.

Well, it is more of a feeling, since I obviously have no numbers, but I still think the TC impact is not big.

My tanks mostly travel with closed hatches and when I order them open up, the Pixeltruppen usually close the hatches quickly. In any case, I don’t see much of a difference.

Did anybody ever check that in a test set-up? In a normal game situation with loads of contributing factors, it is in anyway hard to tell which factor is governing.

  11. Reading your history, I‘d say BN. Only BN, in a bundle or all content depends on how much you want to spent. Though the big bundle certainly is a good deal.

And as @Vacilllator says, trying the demos first is highly recommend. I am not quite sure, to which version they have been updated, but I think that does not really matter for a start. You‘ll get a good impression anyway. Just don‘t be disappointed by the graphics of the demos. That can be fixed with mods in the full games.

The idea to have the 'Key People' occupying Key Terrain. Key Terrain permits the observation of the objective and area of operations. . From there the leader can bear the fire power of his units upon the enemy.

    So you are saying:

The leader, supported by scouting units, should be in a location, from which he has an overview of the operational area and which is close enough to the subordinate units, to control and direct them.

    Ah, ja. That‘s a new concept. 😎
