Congratulations on that Andreas.Ā Wish I could say the same, but not yet...
Perhaps you and I could share a game in the future?
Thank you, Sir!
Re the challenge: Most certainly, if you wish!
Indeed, I was about to ask you since a long time now, but hardly managed to serve ongoing commitments in the last years.
Any preferences? Dropbox or PBEM++?Ā Otherwise, CW seems appropriate. Sounds like we both are kind of newbies in that one.
I have been there in RL, but looking at my placement, my activeĀ service time would have lasted for an hour or so.

Presently playing 3 PBEM (1 CMFI, 1 CMRT, 1 CMFB) with another CMFi about to start.
Turn rates ranges between 1-2 per week to 1-2 per day.
Looks like 4-5 PBEM is standard for most of us...
Yep, itās 4 to 5 for me, too. Currently 4 BN and 1 RT.
Turn Rate to date one per week or less. But since I retired at the end of April only Ā itās increasing nowā¦

Oooops, looks like I am late with that info. Probably I have been on holiday for too long.

Good luck. For the most part PBEM+++ in Combat Missions games has worked well. On occasion, there have been issues with large maps but the majority of time it has worked well.Ā You do give up the ability to replay prior turns so those who normally produce AARs of their battles are unable to do so (so far as I know).
Yep, I am aware of that. But in more than 20 years now, I experienced only a few occasions where we needed to go back a few turns and try again. Though it hurt, when we had to quit Operation Linnett (from BP 1) twice after playing a long time.
And: Yep, in about 3 years of playing PC2, I missed the choice to restart a few times already.
Weāll see.

A friend of mine wanted to change to PBEM++ instead of Dropbox. To date I know PBEM++ only from Panzer Corps Ā 2. There it works like a charme, so we decided to give it a try.
But, ouff, the PBEM++ Access is indeed not very straight forward. I tried my BFC credentials and my Steam credentials without luck. Finally, thanks toĀ @Andrew KulinĀ description I found the right direction. With my Matrix credentials, but a different mail address, I managed to register.
Letās see how the game works outā¦

But as mentioned above, this is strictly for the Norman countryside. It wouldn't be useful for Eastern Europe.
Yep, true. To a certain extend the mods are good for the CW and MG modules, too. But certainly not for FB, Downfall or RT.

Thanks again for your time here.
That's very interesting. I was looking for something 10 years ago(FGM Depot) and it's very cluttered over there.Ā Lucky Strikeās ORĀ Falaiseās... Do they have a complete package ? Inside it is just a complete "download ?
Or do I have to do it all manually and dig through it by hand ?
10 years ago? Then have a look again. It is very different and easier to navigate nowadays.
Lucky Strikeās and Falaiseā mods cover the environment of BN. I.e., trees, bushes, hedges, grass, etc for BN only. They cover it all in one, but only for summer 44. One exception: Falaiseā mod consists of three different packages, one each for June, July and August 1944. He lives in Normandy and obviously had to make it perfect. Both mods are great. Lucky Strikeās is perhaps a bit more colourful. But again, what suits you better depends on your liking.

That's a shame. Because I have no idea what mods work there.
I would need a library of someone who has all these mods working.
So I can copy it directly from him.Did you already take a look at the FGM Depot?
At least you find the mods and scenarios sorted per game and per ātopicā. So, itās easy to decide which mod works for which game.
But as George said: Many will be included in @37mmĀ selection already.
Regarding āone mod to make everything prettierā: Well, thatās difficult anyway. Your taste is not necessarily my tasteā¦. E.g., if you prefer Lucky Strikeās or Falaiseās environment mod for BN is quite much a question of your personal preference.

Ehhh, area fire at obvious superb places to put infantry is ok in my book.Ā
If you put an FO in that church tower that provides great observation to the entire match, don't get upset when I blast the snot out of it as soon as I have a LOS.Ā
H
Yep, the same goes for āsuspiciousā buildings, dwellings, forests or hedgerows etc.
I usually only rule out first turn fire on āthe small set-up square at the end of the mapā.

PM him or search in the archives.

I have been a player of the CM series since the Beyond Overload days and have bought just about every title since.Ā I have enjoyed the modern games and I am very disappointed to hear the the expansion for BS has been shelved.Ā Why?Ā As I understand it, Battlefront did not want people thinking they were making a profit off of a war even though the game was designed before the war in Ukraine.
Itās not CM, but this (in development) board game may be interesting for you:

Yep, of course. I come from Paderborn and lived there half of my life. Thatās why I am extremely interested to see the Battle in CM. Especially the famous encounter with the King Tigers.

Eyeballing is best, in real life the driver's task is to find the 'Hull Down' position. If you can view from View-1 plus notch up with the mouse wheel but not before you used the mouse wheel you are in 'Hull Down".
Whow, you are really micro-managing.
-
Donāt know if it helps much, but I remember there are some Crete scenarios for CMAK, which may serve as a reference.
-
To second Erwin: Yes, āHull Downā command is pretty vague. IIRC, when given a hull down command, the AI moves the vehicle along the ordered path and settles at the first hull down position. Regardless in which direction. I.e., you may want to search for a position straight ahead, but if the first available hull down condition is perpendicular on the right hand side, your vehicle stops in that position and turns right.
I personally, indeed, do rather check the line of sight in the direction I want to move, move the tank to a point just before the line of sight ābreaking pointā and then inch a little forward with a hunt command.

In my Bundeswehr times in the early 80ās, I was trained on the MG 3 (which is basically the same as the MG 42 but with a lower rate of fire). I trained on the 150m shooting range only and found it, indeed, accurate enough. Hitting the mark with the first shot was no issue. However, it has no single fire mode and, if you shoot from the bi-pod only, latest the fourth shot of a burst is usually far off. Thatās why we were trained to fire short 3-round bursts only.
Needles to say: A 10-round burst, shot from the bi-pod, would be a waste of ammo.

I have Mac OS and would like to purchase Combat Mission Italy and bundle it with both scenarios. Ā But I also need to update all games. Ā Both steam and slitherine offer only windows downloads. Ā How May I get only Mac OS updates following purchase of boxed versions?
Nobody replied? Strange.
I do not believe the boxed version are still available, but you should be able to download updates for previous purchases. Larger updates, resp new versions of a game, are usually sold for a few USD.
But the standard advise is: Ask @BFCElvis

I've been there too Andreas, but I'd still rather have a Tiger than a Panzer IV .
Yep, thatās certainly true.
I only recently lost an RT match badly. Felt strong with 8 or so SS-Pz IV. Until they marched into the cross fire of five or six SU 100. A disasterā¦.

Maybe one of those moments where if you're the owner of the Tiger you might raise a vexed eyebrow, but if you're the T34 owner you might not .
Were the T34s hidden by any chance, so engines off?Ā Just curious.
I hate to say it, but my beloved Tiger often disappoints me in CM. Despite the frontal strength and fierce look.
I.e., the video does not surprise me too much.
How many PBEMs do you have going at once?

Re the āchallengeā: Yep, thatās āPanzer Corps 2 speakā, indeed. I am playing that a lot lately.
I proposed CW, because you seem to be fairly new to it and I, too, have only very limited experience. I played perhaps 2 or 3 scenarios, but never got really hooked.
Otherwise, I would be open for any WW2 title.
Just drop me a line, when you are ready to start a game and we take it from there. But no need to rush.
