  1. This is not related to Red Thunder, but more of a general question about Battlefront. But this is the active forum, and I thought I would try. Apologies if this bothers anyone. I am trying download my first Battlefront game, CMBN full bundle. It is EXTREMELY slow, right now I'm getting 166kb/sec. I tried downloading the full file, and it got to 8% and hung and went no further. Now, I am trying to download the separate files one at a time. I am still on the first one, and it is slow as molasses. Is this normal for Battlefront? I tried all the download managers they recommended on the download page, but nothing worked. They either did not exist when I clicked on the link, or they wanted you to purchase the full version in order to download HTTPS from Battlefront's site. I am VERY frustrated that I cannot get my games downloaded. I submitted a ticket to the helpdesk, but I thought I would ask here in case you all had any suggestions. It appears that the fans are much more responsive than the developers. Thank you!
  2. I am downloading my first game from Battlefront. CMBT full bundle. My download is incredibly slow. Average 200-300kb/sec. And none of the download managers they suggested worked. I'm pretty computer savvy, but none of them recognized the CMBN download page and links. They HAVE to improve their download servers or something. This is painful, especially since I get 1.8mbps on most other sites. Oh well, I guess I don't play tonight. I'll let it run overnight. Just complaining in the hopes BFC will take note.
  3. From another thread . . . H2HH can be found here: http://bit.ly/h2h-helper
  4. I am also really looking forward to Wasteland 2. But, it is in Early Access on Steam, which means it could be years before it is done. Alas.
  5. I realize that Battlefront does not give out release dates, but being 100% quiet about any sort of progress or a "we are close, hopefully next week", or something like that would go a long way to appease their customers and fan base. Yes, I'm new here, so I should just sit quietly and wait. But, I know a lot of developers who are very vocal about their progress, and it is so much nicer than absolute silence. I know Battlefront cares, but I wish they cared just a teeny bit more. Ok, that's it. Back to waiting and biting my tongue.
  6. Thanks Womble. Is H2HH mainly for when you have many games going at once, to help you keep track of them? Antmf - I will also get CMBN and the 2.0 upgrade. I might just splurge for the complete package, but I'm not sure yet. I really want Red Thunder when it releases, so I may save some dough for that. I will send you a personal message through this forum with my e-mail address.
  7. Right on. I used to play a lot of Tiller's Squad Battles games on The Blitz, so I am familiar with their structure. But, I will definitely check out The Few Good Men. Hey Antmf - once we both purchase the game (hopefully the same one), and get familiar with the system, we should play some head-to-head learning games. Let's stay in touch.
  8. Ok. It might be my work is blocking that site. I will check at home. Thanks!
  9. Where can one find a CM club to join, please? Do folks use TheBlitz.org to find opponents? Thanks!
  10. Where can I get the latest version of H2HH, please? New guy here trying to get everything set up for head-to-head games once I get the system down. Thank you!
  11. Where/how is the best place to get into a CM club, please? Do folks use TheBlitz.org to find opponents? Thanks!
  12. Thank you all. I still want to get CMRT first, since it's the new toy. But, it looks like I will have to get CMFI and CMBN shortly thereafter. Don't get me wrong, I like a good plains battle, too. I just wanted to make sure the game engine could handle hills, and it appears that it does very well. I like my combat games like I like my women. Not too flat.
  13. Stupid thread title, I know. Noobie to CM games here. Does Combat Mission have any substantial hills in any of their games? I have only played a bit of the tutorial for CMBN, and watched some of the CMRT videos by ChrisND. But, all the maps look very flat. I watched some videos of Achtung Panzer: Operation Star, and there were some major hills in their maps. Do the CM games, and Red Thunder specifically since I will be purchasing it as my first CM game, have maps with some nice hills to fight in? Nothing beats a good hill, I always say. You can climb or drive up them, then run or drive down the other side. Fun! Seriously - I hope all the maps are not all flat. Educate me, please!
  14. Where are these videos, please? Would you mind posting a link?
  15. So, any takers for a tomorrow release? Do they normally release on Tuesdays?
  16. I am going to watch it tonight! That is, if my wife and three year old cooperate.
  17. Another scum sucking noobie here wondering how this works. I would love to sod off, but then if every SSN sodded off, there would be no SSNs to challenge. And, isn't that the point? Or is it just to haze noobies, which I'm beginning to think is what this is really about.
  18. Good to know. I played the demo a little bit last night. It's very awesome, but fairly obtuse right now for me. I wish the demo included a real tutorial. The beginner scenario is small, but it does not tell you anything about how to play, and there are no tooltips in the game. Yikes! But, the inclusion of the manual helps. Now, I can't decide what game to buy, CMBN or Red Thunder. It is kind of strange that CMBN costs more than the brand new Red Thunder, but that is their pricing model. It doesn't look like I can purchase just CMBN with the latest engine without any add-ons. The cheapest I saw was $95 for everything.
  19. Awesome. Thank you! I am getting Devil's Descent, just in case I purchase CMBN. I will at least play the demo tonight to see what I think of the system. I may just pre-order Red Thunder so I have the latest game and engine.
  20. Do folks mostly use the buddy list or the browser toolbar thingy to find opponents? I did not see any posts in the "Looking for Opponents" forum.
  21. Last question (for now ) - how is the A.I. in this series? Is this more of a head-to-head game, or does the A.I. hold up and provide a good gaming experience? Thanks again!
