  1. Why the germans dont have light mortars in CMx2 like US and CW troops? They only have 81mm mortars. After doing some research I found that they had the 5 cm leichter Granatwerfer 36 but it was dropped from 1942 because it was too complex to manufacture. It's said they used french and russian captured models. Anybody have more information about it?,why they never developed an effective light mortar?.
  2. Dunno if this has been discussed before but have anybody made some test between this two light MGs in CM?.Are there some differences between their performance in the game?.Which do you believe is the best?.Take a look to this video
  3. Ok,I failed miserably with the bike but you can't beat this: Must, definitively,be in the show...
  4. What about this?.It has always fascinated me.It played the same role than the MG jeeps and Bren Carriers. You could find it in Theatre of War but not in CMx2(I dunno in CMx1)
  5. It's very annoying when one of your tanks or other AV get inmobilized by enemy fire or a mine but the crew is ok as well as all the tank weaponry. If the vehicle doesn't received any major damage, why couldn't be repared by modeled maintenance units ?.They can do with tanks what the soldiers do with their wounded comrades giving them medical attention. For tanks the time to fix it could be longuer. from: www.military.discovery.com
  6. I don't think there was gonna be any problem. There is a game about this conflicts(probably the only one),a flight sim called Wings Over Israel(Third Wire Prod. 2008) and I haven't heard there has been any controversy or problems about it.What's more,CMSF is based in an hypothetical war between USA and Syria. The Israel-Arab countries wars are real and you could play(and eventually win) with either side.
  7. I'm not very interested in a CM game about Korea.More or less in the same stuff than WWII. I would prefer a CM game about the 1967 Six Days War or/and 1973 Yom Kippur War between Israel and Arab countries. There were an interesting mix of WWII era tanks like the T-34/85,IS-3 and a upgraded version of the sherman(the supersherman) and T-55,Centurion and M-48 patton tanks. What's more, the Israeli mechanized infantry operated M3 halftracks.Fierce and bloody battles took place in these conflicts and some big tank battles.
  8. During IIWW(at the beginning at least) the British tank crews where instructed to shoot on the move thought it wasn't an accurate fire. Here comes the quote: The choice was then between firing at the halt in the open, which gave good accuracy-but also gave the enemy an excellent target;or firing on the move, which decreased accuracy but also presented a harder target for the enemy. The RTR(Royal Tank Regiment) had a long standing preference for the latter solution. from Worl war II desert tactics,by Paddy Griffith.Osprey Publishing.2008
  9. I'm reading a book about the Six Day War in the Sinai desert between Israel and Egypt. There is a report from an israeli tank commander about how they had to cross a dangerous kill zone facing an egyptian line of defence and how they got through firing constantly all their weaponry(MGs and guns) to all directions. I wonder if its posible to do so with the new game upgrades, making the tanks to advance and shooting while shifting right, left and center in order to try to overhelm the enemy.
  10. I used to play Theatre of War and I think is a quiet good game.I got lots of fun.A bit similar to CM but RT only and with many interesting details about armoured vehicles and a very good damage modeling.Anyway,I prefer CM series. I played the original game with a patch. It has the French and Polish campaign that are not usually represented in many other games like this(what about to introduce them in the CM series?).I don't know about the rest of the releases (ToW 2,3...),they said that were improved but I found the hardware requirements were so high and I prefer to stick with the CM games now.
  11. This is from "school of hard knocks" in Courage and Fortitude campaign. For me is one of the most challenging and I love it.I cleared the mine at the beginning of the bridge by chance, when my engineers blew up the barricade but my tank got stuck by another AT mine after the crossing about 10 meters ahead or so.My ingeneers failed to detect it for any reason.
  12. I saw and played them in Theatre of War (a BF game).Come on!,I want to ride my bike...
  13. I just finished playing all the allied campaigns in CMBN (Commomwealth included) and I'm a bit disappointed with the air support and artillery support from battleships. The first only appears twice in the Scottish Corridor campaign and,in one of those occasions,,wasn't posible for anybody in the map to get in contact with it(even the FO).As for the battleships I didn't remember to find them in the off-map assets thought they played and important rol in Normandy. Another thing I missed but it isn't in the game yet is the BMW german bikes with sidecars and MG.They were the equivalent of the allied MG jeeps.I love this vehicles and I wonder if there is any chance to see them in further modules or games. http://s371.beta.photobucket.com/user/Arpella72/media/bmw_zpsb09fe29a.png.html
  14. Will we ever see this "new" weapons in further CM games?...
  15. One day, while playing a night mission and watching the light produced by a burning vehicle,I wonder why there aren't flares in the game thought they were widely used along with the smoke rounds.I think it would be interesting to fight in almost complet darkness and to rely only in flares to spot enemy activity sometimes. Are they difficult to model?.
  16. I used to play Theatre of War and soviet troops used the RPG-40 and 43 AT grenades that were quiet effective(at least in the game) but a very short range of course.I think the modern Rusian Army is using a modern version of them.If the Eastern Front game is ever released I wish they'll take this in account. http://pictures2.todocoleccion.net/tc/2012/01/25/30170349.jpg http://img174.imageshack.us/img174/1191/rpgtn6.jpg
  17. Yes,You are probably right. How to move the post there?.If the administrator want to do it I don't have any inconvenient.
  18. I know it's nothing to do with with WW II(not directly,at least) but I want to post it anyway as you may find it interesting. They are some pics from an old battlefield where fierce combats took place during the Battle of Ebro river in the Spanish Civil War (1936-39).The XV Army Corps (Ebro Republican Army) covered the retreat of their comrades and was engaged in a fierce and bloody fighting against Franco´s forces during november 1938.They defended a fortified line in the area of La Fatarella village that is upon a mountain ridge. They fought bravely and very well, leaded by lieutenant colonel Manuel Tagüeña, a non-professional soldier who was 25 years old then and became later a training officer in the Red Army's Frunze academy. He published his memories in a book titled Testimonio de dos guerras(Testimony of two wars). I wish you enjoy it. http://s371.beta.photobucket.com/user/Arpella72/library/Ebro%20Battle?
  19. Thank you very much lads!. That campaign was so great.I checked the locations in Google Earth and some of them are quite accurate. The terrain haven't changed so much in some cases and you can identify easily the place.I realised that the railway no longer exist. I got very good maps in this web page: http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USA/USA-A-Utah
  20. I just finished my first mission, the Road to Montebourg and I want to know if anybody has ,or knows where I can find, a list of the missions of this campaign and with their locations if possible.I have followed my progression on a map but I missed the first half of them.
  21. I recommend you the Road to Montebourg campaign.I'm playing it now and is the first I tried.I should be in the middle of it but I dunno how many missions it has.I have already done 8.
  22. ..he,he...sorry,I was confuse,I'm not english spoken person.I wanted to mean that if they could destroy the Tiger with rifle grenades. They hadn't bazooka.
  23. I don't know.I didn´t see the Tiger coming until the last moment and I didn't care so much because I was focused on two squads taking over a german position.I recived a couple of M-10 tank destroyers later as a reinforcement but i didn't think they were on the battlefield when it happened. The mortars weren't exactly behind the house but on top of a hill behind so they could see the tank for sure.I dont think my infantry knocked down a Tiger with rifle grenades, probably they had a bazooka with one or two rockets left.
