  1. I had to go back and re-read this. It's a classic of analysis Dave
  2. I understand that. The question was about an iMac, though. And your problem would not exist on a Mac. That's all. Just clarifying for the next time. Dave
  3. For future reference, a new Mac can be completely set up by transferring EVERYTHING from the old one. Works every time. I've done it a number of times and NEVER had to re-install or re-license anything, other than possibly a few web site saved logins (some will check and see that it's a new computer logging in). But software. Works like a charm. Dave
  4. Me too. It's a great bargain for the massive content you get. The Commonwealth module is lots of fun. It's like a whole different game playing with all that different equipment and organization. Dave
  5. You can still do PBEM the "old" way. PBEM++ is an addition. Everything else will still work. And Mac OS players have no choice but to continue the previous ways. Dave
  6. I don't *think* so but you can download the two files, and replace the ones in the Steam installation. They are two, not very big files. Dave
  7. If it runs fine the brz files are there. I'm thinking the most likely thing here is that CMBN uses the older directory organization. The data folder is inside the CMBN .app. To see it you have to right click/show contents. Then as above under Resources, you'll find the data folder. Your Z folder should go here. Newer titles like FB and CW have the data folder just inside the CM Battle for Normandy folder along with Game Files (where all the scenarios are) and Documents. CMBN has an alias to Game Files because it too is inside the .app. Hope that's clear. Dave
  8. It may have gotten lost in the discussion, but only one download is necessary. The 4.03 full installer has everything in it. You order CMBN, and the Market Garden add on. You'll get a license code for both. When you run the installer it will want your license for CMBN. Then, after you've installed it, if you are on a PC, on your desktop (an alias) or in the install folder (the original), you'll find Activate Additional Products - a script. Run that and you'll be able to input your Market Garden license code. Then you are ready to play. If you are on a Mac, the Activate Additional Products will be in the CMBN folder in /Applications. Double click on it (it may ask you if you are sure you want to run it - say yes). Same thing - input your license code (be aware on Macs the pop up acts graphically wonky (technical term) starting with OS X Big Sur and newer. But it's usable. Dave
  9. This is correct, I believe. I know that SAWs (M249) were not introduced until 84-85 so beyond this time frame. That was the first change to having a squad level LMG. BARs were long gone by 79-82. Each fire team has a grenadier, and some squads have a Dragon launcher. Over the years there were a number of studies about putting M60s in squads, but it's too much for one person to effectively handle, unlike a BAR. So until the M249 came about, the usual practice in light infantry was to have 1 rifleman with an M16 in each of the two fire teams designated as an automatic rifleman. This is different than mechanized infantry. Dave
  10. I just downloaded these and I'm really looking forward to running through them. (you can guess why ) Dave
  11. There's also a few duplicates of scenarios because of slight name changes. You can figure out which are the old ones to be deleted by looking at the file dates. The new ones are all dated November. Old duplicates are dated April.
  12. Just ran through the whole thing counting down to zero. I made moves, but I didn't try to fight the scenario. But no crash, nothing out of normal, using the file @Sgt.Squarehead provided above. Those saved games do crash at the same point for me, so I'm not sure what's going on. The SEAL team reinforcement came in without "drama" Dave
  13. The two saves crashed for me. The first at 30 minutes, the second about 3 minutes progressed. I've saved the Mac diagnostic reports. Hard for me to decipher but it *appears* to have something to do with OpenGL (don't quote me on that). My MacBook Pro is lower spec than @Halmbarte Before I make a Mantis report, I want to check the scenario from scratch on my Mac. @Sgt.Squarehead is it at FGM, or can you just send me a copy by PM? Dave
  14. Do you have a save you could post or PM that is from before the crash? That could help narrow down the issue Dave
  15. That's supposed to work. I've been able to delete my own challenges. Anyone else have this issue? Dave
  16. What happens when you go into the building with the surrendering units? I don't think they'll disappear until you are there and "take custody" of them. Dave
  17. Made it easier for work I was doing for my research when I was at NC State. Combination of tools running in Windows and Unix (which run on Mac with a little massaging), and passing files back and forth. I've just stuck with it because it works well for me and I'm used to it. Dave
  18. That's different. There is a HUGE difference between medical facilities at military bases, and the VA system that cares for veterans. They are not connected to each other. My brother was stationed at the naval hospital in at the San Diego Navy Base. It's quite a place (or was when he was there - I'm sure it still is). I was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC, and that hospital was pretty impressive too, with a top-notch orthopedics section with visiting residents from Duke Univ and UNC medical schools. Usually there is one large VA hospital in each state. Some states may have more than one. Some may have one big hospital and some satellite facilities. Depends on the size of the state, both geographically and population (which don't always correlate). The VA is chronically understaffed and underfunded and even though more money has been appropriated each year, that appropriation has lagged badly in terms of what is required to keep up with increasing demand. In general the active duty military facilities are pretty well resourced. Dave
  19. Good to hear. I wonder if the performance using Parallels would be better than my Intel MBP. That will be the only way to use PBEM++ Right now, CW runs in Parallels, but not well. Graphics are poor and a lot of lag. But the M1 chips are supposed to be screamers. Dave
  20. I think that may be a misconception some people have. A FO requests. The battery decides. So an FO will describe target location and type. The battery FDC (or Bn FDC if it's a combined mission) decides the fuze or whether to fire ICM or precision munitions maybe, if that's a consideration, and how many volleys. That's all based on the target description, and takes into account the battery ammo situation. Dave
  21. I've been running it in W10 on Parallels on my Mac and it worked fine, so I'm not sure. 1) Is this W10 or W11? 2) If W11, did you recently update to W11 and was CW working in W11 before the patch? 3) If neither of those apply, the first thing I'd try is to delete your current CW installation, download the full installer version and see if that runs. I'm not sure why that would make a difference, but perhaps something got corrupted in the patch process or download. Dave
  22. That appears to be the case, yes. For every title. Unpleasant surprise is exactly correct. Dave
  23. Things usually have to be somewhat repackaged for Steam. Things don't go in the same places. Dave
  24. Except for #2 (Mac OS X), that's the same situation as other titles (other than CM), that have several distribution paths. C:MANO and CMO, for example, have two of those and the same things apply. Most of those of course, don't even have a Mac OS X version. Dave
  25. Maybe eventually there will be a patch for other games. This is a patch for CW. Only. Dave
