  1. That photo was long ago. Like many, he didn't make the crossover from cute kitten actor/model to an adult cat actor. The calls just never came, no cat food commercials, no kittylitter ads or SPCA PSA's. Now he just sits around doing cat nip off the royalties from that one photo.
  2. Concord had to depart so I am double-hatted as umpire and Soviet CO. For the Panzer Battle in this open hex, these are your orders! The battle is 30-45 minutes in duration. When the timer turns red, stop play! We may continue at umpire's discretion. The Penal Company is expendable and use them to delay the enemy advance as long as possible. Starshina Sakonov has remained to raise their morale but he must exit safely no earlier than 0725! Use your tanks to inflict maximum destruction upon the enemy forces but attempt to reverse off the map no earlier than 0725. Use your artillery within the current rules to also cause destruction to the axis infantry. Good luck!
  3. PANZER BATTLE is racked up and ready for fenthedog and Snols........
  4. PANZER BATTLE is racked up and ready for fenthedog and Snols........
  5. No problem ever Doug! Lots of moving parts.... So, the Recon battle is already rolling........and within 24 hours the Panzer Battle will be in progress. Then we get to crack open a couple cold brews and watch the action!
  6. The action card only caused a delay to your next tactical battle which is the recon battle. You will have normal artillery support for the panzer battle. The travel mode will not be so bad, it just means your troops will arrive in successive waves as they were travelling in column. Some at battle start, a third at 5 minutes, another third at ten and a tiny bit remaining at 15 minutes.
  7. OK, I have an axis commander for the Panzer Battle. He is fenthedog. I will add both opponents to the dropbox tonight. and create an e-mail with them to discuss any file sharing delays or issues (PC, real life, vacation). Battle will start within 24 hours.
  8. I will finish the Panzer Battle preps tonight and then add fenthedog to the dropbox. Battle should be rolling within 24 hours. His opponent is Snols.
  9. If I did not explain this before.... UNIT LEADERS continued... I am introducing a concept often used in boardgames.."leader units" that can raise the local morale to some degree and for a certain scope, platoon, company, entire battalion. They are most likely a small HQ group of suitable rank on map you can control and the effect is done by me in the editor to make any plus ups. A high ranking officer might have his own tank and if you slide him into the battle, the other tanks go +1 for motivation and any other HQ tanks go up +1 for leadership. As SOP, each side starts off with 3 to have as silver bullets and if they get killed then the unit can have a net drop in morale depending on details, umpire's call. I thought a mix of an enlisted rank hero soldier that would impact troops but not HQ's. Then a junior officer and finally a bit more senior officer. A mix of armor and infantry. Tank officer would not effect infantry and vice versa unless at the very highest level. The hero sergeant might only have a radius of a few platoons. Get it? A famous corporal might just arrive to bolster a gun crew and a few squads. Maybe a 4th "leader unit" would arrive randomly later on for variety. they are silver bullets and will just be able to used once so it is not a blanket thing for the entire operation. maybe a corporal or sergeant could be used twice but he can only affect a certain "radius" around him...

  11. The ladies reminded me I forgot to say what phases we were in! Some of dis stuff.... And some of dis stuff!
  12. AAR is not mandatory but please during the battle make some short reports and use the clock time in the upper right in the compass such as this example RECON BATTLE 0715 All is well. Others things of note.... But if you do want to make a nice AAR with screenshots... How about this new carrot and stick idea? Where as I have indeed made AAR as non-mandatory, I am thinking how to show preference to PBEM foot soldiers who do post screenshots with an interesting narrative. This could be head of the line treatment for future battles or perhaps a special addition or interesting wrinkle in their next battle.

  14. OK Snols, you will defend against the axis "PANZER BATTLE". Gulp! Concord is still tweaking his "mapsterpiece" so it will be a few days. We are still digging up an axis opponent. Standby. ******************* Marco2marzo will defend against mjkerner in the RECON BATTLE. ***************** Pallebahtep, standby. I will see if I can cook up something for you....maybe a little probe over their by the left map edge.
  15. Snols, Do you wish to command the T-34's and Penal Company troops. They have an excellent chance to redeem themselves or die trying. A win-win!
  16. ATTENTION ALL SOVIET PERSONNEL: Due to urgent home matters, Comrade Colonel Konkordevsky has returned to Moscow. Good luck sir! I have assumed command of the 23rd Army effective immediately. All previous orders are in force....
  17. OK, it is 0300 in Italy so Marco is asleep with his Teddy Bear. Bear, get it? Soviets, bear...ahh, never mind!
  18. Marco2marzo! Do you want to take the recon battle? Your opponent is your old opponent from San Donato, Italy when you attacked as Canadians! But this time mjkerner is attacking against you... EDIT: If OK with your CO of course...
  19. Recon battle force details.... Cavalry Recon 30th Cavalry 55 men, Morale C=normal motivation. Regulars, some veterans, a few green. 3 pistols, 21 SMG, 25 rifles, 1 ATR, 1 HMG, 4 LMG.
  20. UNIT LEADERS: Remember each can only be used once, maybe twice at my discretion. Let me know ASAP if you want any "sprinkled in the soup"....! Oberst Heinrich Bongartz Bongartz is the protege of Feld Marshall Von Manstein, legendary among the men of the 3rd Panzer Korps. His operational and tactical prowess instills confidence in his soldiers, as he leads them from victory to victory while keeping casualties to a minimum. Hauptmann Ulrich Neckel From early in the war, Neckel demonstrated a natural instinct for panzer warfare. Having reached ace status while a feldwebel commanding a platoon of PzIV, Neckel was promoted to Lieutenant mid war, eventually heading up an armoured company. Neckel has a reputation for keeping a cool head even when under intense pressure....his men call him "Der Eskimo". Stabsfeldwebel Werner Preuss A veteran from the very start of Barbarossa, holder of the Knight's Cross, his coolness under fire and infantry combat expertise inspires his troops to achieve beyond their normal limits.
  21. UNIT LEADERS: Remember each can only be used once, maybe twice at my discretion. Let me know ASAP if you want any "sprinkled in the soup"....! Alexander Kazakov - Kazakov is the protege of Colonel Stav, legendary among the men of the 27th Guards Rifles. When Colonel Stav was killed by a sniper's bullet during the Battle of the Dnieper, the whole regiment's attack stalled, as the men mourned the loss. Kazakov's tactical prowess instills confidence in his soldiers, as he leads them from victory to victory while keeping casualties to a minimum. Juri Gilsher - From early in the war, Gilsher demonstrated a natural instinct for armoured warfare. Having reached ace status while commanding a platoon of T-34's, Gilsher was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel mid war, heading up an armoured battalion. Gilsher has a reputation for keeping a cool head even when under pressure, knowing when to keep low and when to strike. Mikhail Safonov - USED ONCE IN FOREST BATTLE TURN1A Starshina Safonov, a veteran from the earliest period of the conflict, a hero of the Soviet Union, his vast experience and tactical ability at infantry combat inspires his troops to achieve beyond their normal limits.
  22. Here is the link to the empty recon battle map (no units yet).. Check it out and report any issues ASAP. https://www.dropbox.com/s/y6uixtdyu249dcg/T1B%20RECON%20BATTLE%20ROUGH%20TERRAIN.btt?dl=0
