    Google Earth

    Ctrl + Alt + T Hide/Show Toolbar.
F11 Full screen mode - Toggles between full screen and window view for the Google Earth application.
Ctrl + S Save Image - Saves the current view as an image to your computer.

Ctrl + L Lat/Lon grid - Produces a latitude and longitude grid over the surface of the earth in the 3D viewer.
Ctrl + Shft + O New image overlay - Produces the New Image Overlay dialog box.
n Reset view to north - up - Rotates view so that view is north-up.
u Reset tilt to top-down view - Resets angle to view scene in top-down or up mode.

Left arrow Move Left - Moves the viewer in the direction of the arrow.
Right arrow Move Right - Moves the viewer in the direction of the arrow.
Up arrow Move Up - Moves the viewer in the direction of the arrow.
Down arrow Move Down - Moves the viewer in the direction of the arrow.

Spacebar Stop Current Motion - When the viewer is in motion, stops movement.

How to set Map to preset viewing height:

    1) Add a place marker from Toolbar (yellow push pin. if you already have one just edit it in your places list)
    2) In pop up box under the VIEW tab set the RANGE: to x number of meters and click OK (I work in meters)
    3) check ground scale in bottom left corner.
    4) open Starting location from Places and ajust RANGE: Up or down depending on desired ground scale.

Now when you click on your starting location the map will zoom in or out to your desired ground scale then press n and the map will rotate so north is at the top of map (i.e north is always up)

    How to get contour lines:

you will need a 1px x 1px white dot or any color you like

    1) zoom map out to see more area than you are mapping
    2) Ctrl + Shft + O green lines will appear on the map, you can drag these out to cover your area
    3) in the pop up box put in a NAME:. I tend to name them 20m, 30m, 35m etc
    4) LINK: Find your white pixel and connect it.
    5) set TRANSPARENCY: I tend to put the slider in line with the LOCATION tab
    6) Open the ALTITUDE: tab and change dropdown to Absolute and enter an altitude: in meters and click ok

You should now see this layer under places. layers can now be turned on and off using the check boxes

    How to get images:

    1) find image you want
    2) Ctrl + Alt + T hides toolbar
    3) F11 Full screen mode (give you a little more image)
    4) Ctrl + S opens popup to save image (will save the image

once I have my google earth maps I overlay the 1947 black and whites to see the changes.

IIRC, that was ONE scenario. IIRC it was two people who were experiencing crashes with it and you were not one of them. IIRC it was never determined what was causing the crashes but running out of memory was suspected.

You really need to stop making these unsubstantiated declarations of engine problems. You don't know what you're talking about and some of your statements are disingenuous.

Turkeys reacted to Do Right in Trenchant analysis of post-Soviet playbook & why Crimea's not the same
    Wicky,

Interesting, if they cut back, wonder if they are going to put the resources into  AVF robotic support type tanks and supplies instead.
As far as Crimea goes, I am baffled as to why everyone in Europe seems to be on Flouride or some sort of relaxant or they are being extorted, bribed, threatened into submission.  They had to know that Russia would want all of that land they lost, back.  So, why did they not see this ahead of time?  They need to realize  all the Mafias are ridding us off and are not to be trusted.  They are going to take Kiev next, I feel.  Why, because that is where I saw the Mafia at the CERN laboratory, I do have that picture if anyone is interested.  They intend to have control of this.  It is more that just a piece of technology.  It is their ticket to ride out of here or bring in reinforcements.  They think, if, they move a CERN laboratory closer to Putin, they will have mafia protection.  The last CERN failed (Swiss Zionist Mafia).  This new CERN is very expensive and many governments are being bullied,  to pay for it.   Russian planes have been flying over England recently, bulling them.  Russian has spies in MI-6,  London, forgot one of their names, go to Abel Danger.  This Russian mafia and other mafias in U.S., Australia, and more are blackmailing European (Recently Angela Merkel's, Germans, Poland, and other  world leaders by crashing their airplanes, school children even, using the Boeing uninterrupted Auto-Pilot +  Air Tranquilizer  (ATI)  to tranquilize pilots, crew, and passengers to terrorize countries into pouring money into the CERN Laboratory in Ukraine and other land grabs.   A list of flights where they used the BUAP + ATI  to force planes down for revenge to governments who failed to comply.  Adam Air 574, Kenya Airway 507, Speedbird 38, Turkish 1951, Colgan 3407, Air France 447, Air Afrikiyah 771, Sukhoi Superjet, MH370, MH17, QZ8501, and now the one downed in French Alps.  There is a reason why the co-pilot had steady breathing, he was out cold.  They own the mainstream news, so you will be reading from their mafia owned script writers.

So, if we want to make life easier, now, and later, we need to take Putin seriously, one tank in Mariupol is not enough to  stop their advancing toward Kiev.  Check my sources, meanwhile,  ensure pilots have warning systems in the cockpit when the air is foul, extra oxygen to prevent the plane from being droned.  For more on this see Abeldanger.net, on Livestream as Abel danger.   Around 1995, one of the airlines in Europe filed a suit for 800 million because their 747's airplane technologists for Lafthunsa, Germanwings is an affiliate, (recent France crash ,pay back) for filing this suit where technicians, found extra stuff in a electric equipment  compartment (E&E).   They filed, to get Boeing to pay for having to remove the components on all of the jets they purchased from Boeing.  To protect Boeing and us, these need to be removed immediately.  New York Bronx, Base 1 Technologies Clinton aides activated the patented devices BUAP + ATI to kill revenge Yvonne Selke, a Pentagon spy in the satellite mapping branch of the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency.  This is how they  revenge after being fired from key positions or to kill a whistleblower or to kill  Yvonne Salik.  We provided Ukraine with satellite imagery because Putin had control of Ukraines therefore always had the upper hand.  The mafia is trying to intimidate the Pentagon so we will stop sharing intelligence with Ukraine.

Let us put an end to mafia controlled banking, markets, and manufacturers exploiting humanity.  If they can blackmail our Pentagon, world governments, we have no representation.  Find out more, we have to wake up,  Airbus, FAA, JAA all know about this, so why aren't they doing anything about it, they are complicit.  Soon,  people who don't know about it,  will.   Covering up by killing off any whistleblowers exposing this, is a very dark world.  Not the world I want to hand over to my children.

This is a pretty intense story of a truly remarkable incident in the Normandy Campaign or, for that matter, the war. You be the judge. This guy clearly was tight with the leprechauns when it came to luck!

Turkeys reacted to John Kettler in Operation Hercules: The Invasion of Malta [WIP]
    kohlenkau,

I got your message, but am doubtful I could undertake all that, though I'll gladly help, as I did/am doing here. I have one thing in mind already. If you haven't already done so, please start a thread where I can put my discoveries.

This is a most useful article on Op Hercules, though it reads like a translation that's a bit creaky. And Commando Supremo has this, including the fascinating fact there was to be a tank unit of unknown type ex-Russian tanks. That fact is as nothing, though, when compared to this astounding set of historic revelations.

"England was a protectorate of Malta, and with its great Grand Harbour, was able to provide a port to Allied warships as well as launch air strikes to Axis convoys headed for Africa."

Talk about getting not just the fundamentals confused, then compounding it by botching the antecedents!

I tried several times to get this link to a study comparing the Invasion of Crete with the Invasion of Malta, but so far, keep getting a "Error-Request Denied, try again" message. As an appetite whetter, I give you the abstract from this Master's Thesis. As for armor being brought to the party, how's this grab you? Info is from the Op Herkules Wiki.

"The main assault convoy was scheduled to begin landing on Malta just before midnight on the first day of the invasion, after the airborne forces had already landed during the afternoon hours and secured the heights above the selected beaches. The bulk of the first-wave assault troops would come from the Friuli Infantry Division (10,000 men) and Livorno Infantry Division (9,850) of the Italian XXX Corps. Also included were 1,200 men from the 1st Assault Battalion and Loreto Battalion (both drawn from the Regia Aeronautica); two battalions of San MarcoMarines (2,000); three battalions of Blackshirts (1,900) and 300 Nuotatori (a commando unit of San Marco marines specially trained in ocean swimming and beach assault). Armour support comprised nineteen Semovente 47/32 and eight Semovente 75/18 self-propelled guns plus thirty L3 light tanks (comparable in size and armament to the British Bren Gun Carrier).[7]
The follow-up convoy would be mainly made up of troops from the Italian XVI Corps: the Assieta Infantry Division (9,000) and the Napoli Infantry Division (8,900) along with attached artillery assets (3,200). It would also include the remainder of the 10th Armour Regiment (3,800). The Superga Infantry Division (9,200) plus a battalion of Blackshirts and a small detachment of San Marco Marines (1,000) were to be in position to land on the smaller island of Gozo in the early morning hours of the second day.[7]
Additional armour intended for Herkules included 2.Kompanie/Panzerabteilung z.b.V.66, a German unit partly equipped with captured Russian tanks. A mix of ten KV-1 (46-ton) and KV-2(53-ton) heavy tanks were made available for the invasion and at least ten Italian motozattere (landing craft) were modified with reinforced flooring and internal ramps to carry and off-load these vehicles. Other tanks in the unit included captured Russian T-34 medium tanks, up-armoured German light tanks (five VK 1601s and five VK 1801s) plus twelve German Panzer IVGs armed with 75mm guns.Ref[8] An additional twenty German Panzer III medium tanks were offered for use in the invasion but it is not known what unit these were to be drawn from.[6]"

unfortunately no.  The positive side is the assisted living facility he was in (Lodge Lane in DE) is wonderful.  Most of the staff was in tears today as they were told.  it was pretty touching.  He had been there over a year and a half and was their first resident.

Turkeys reacted to GhostRider3/3 in Looking for huge scenarios
I am currently working on a HUGE project that should be finished early next week.  its called "Clash of Titans" which will throw some King Tigers against JSII, and JSI tanks.  I wont tell you a lot... but I have worked on it for about a month and a half.. It is a Hypothetical encounter between the 505 sPz.Abt. and the 31st Guards Heavy Tank Regiment.  (at work know and don't have my notes in front of me)  There are sub forces and goals for each side.. I have designed it to be played as German vs Soviet Forces or hopefully Head to Head.  When I upload it next week on the Repository.. hopefully I can get some play testers.

I spent about a week or two just on the map.. and many flavor objects to add a immersive detail from almost anywhere on the map.
I have tried to use as many Real Life names as I could find for the correct Company I was using for the Germans.  Pz.Abt 505 and the Panzer grenadier Company I also used from the 24th Pz. Division.

The Scenario is not historically accurate but I wanted the players to feel immersed and feel as if this battle could have taken place.

x1 town.. German.. Refit & Repair area, a Depot area, and a Rail, telegraph building plus an area of local inhabitants and shops.
    X1 Rail station
    x1 Rail Storage area
    X1 large Farm
x1 Village Russian side, basically rural within a somewhat forested area.  basic village but detailed.
    Rail bridge
    Road bridge
somewhat hidden Ford location.  Located near a previous battle.
The lay of the land is of low lying land with an occasional bump.??

I'm 32 and I feel like the youngest one here where in regular gaming circles I am an old man.

You can do all your "old man wisdom" crap, but honestly, this is about gaming and trying to educate people on new features that people actually like, because honestly you'd still be playing with 8bit hexes.

This is too stressful, I have Mulitple Sclerosis and stress makes my symptoms worse so just **** it. This isn't worth my time. I just posted an idea and all I got was hostile obnoxious responses.

Sorry I don't think you can make a legitimate argument that it is up to Russian's to reign in Putin when Putin is active militarily in Ukraine. That ship has sailed. Like it or not the west is part of the international community and has both a right and a responsibility to act. You can self flagellate on your own time. I will not get mired in some self loathing argument that says because the west makes mistakes too, we can not therefore have anything worthwhile to contribute. Show me the nation you feel has hands clean enough and the capability to act and maybe we can talk. I doubt though you have anyone in mind.

And yes Hitler is an appropriate historical figure. He was an aggressive dictator fanning the flames of Germany's sense of being wronged and acting to "protect Germans wherever they may be". Tell me why you think there is no historical parallel.
