  1. Looks like making more info available to the player will eventually occur which to me is a good thing. I wouldn't mind having information that lets me make some informed decisions while playing. I don't have committed to memory things like the max effective range of all machine guns/rifles/smg's etc or whether I should be firing at a certain tank at a certain range with the tank I have to make effective penetration. I don't have all the armor thickness for all the German halftracks memorized either. I just want the information a track commander or squad leader would have to make decisions appropriately. While playing I generally find the need to at least once of twice a game either go find a reference book or simply alt tab out of game to google the information. When I do that in any game it tells me that they didn't do a good job in having that info readily available to the player. Not having the info readily available can lead to players just making guesses which then turn out to be bad and this leads to frustration and frustration leads to people quitting stuff and telling other people that this game sucks. I don't do that by the way...I tell friends they are only allowed to play CM if they have big brass ones but for some reason the wife never seems to like this. Basically make the info that shows armor thickness for vehicles, gun capabilities at ranges and certain armor thickness (I don't even need to know for angles as imo that's to much) and small arms ranges. Have this info readily available and I might stop making stupid mistakes...but don't count on it. I mean I am not so stupid as to think some AT rifle is going to stop a Tiger at 1000m but there are situations where I am wondering if all I am doing with other weapon systems is wasting my time aka begging for the destruction of my units.
  2. I was really thinking that the US had a great chance to win gold this year based on our qualifying play. We slumped at really the wrong time and the body language of the players after the 1st period was a bit sad to see. Still proud of our boys just wished they'd handled it better. That said I'm a Hawks fan and their players did allllll right...giggitygiggity.
  3. That's how I see it as well at the moment. Depending on how the next turn plays out with the armor duel this as well could be a bit of a momentum changer. ** Just saw Bill's last update...I'd say he's going to need to make an adjustment. He stated it already but he is probably really hating not having more T34's
  4. Nope, they are going to just stand there and wait for a command that allows them to jump over them since they don't have enough initiative to do it themselves. Well that is the stereotype isn't it?
  5. Yep, but that sledge only needs that one glancing blow to make an impression on rapier dude. Looks like that RoF advantage for Elvis is paying dividends already. I didn't notice it but what are the crew levels for the respective forces? I'd wager that makes a big difference in this duel as well.
  6. Ваше здоровье! yeah had to look that up
  7. Communism and socialism are great ideas until you put people in charge of them.
  8. If Bill eliminates Elvis's armor then the biggest enemy Bill will have after that will be the clock. I don't think he has the time to level building after building with HE but I sure as heck would love to see that happen. Course watching German armor pummel the ISU's into submission under a barrage of impacts from superior RoF will be fun to watch as well but I don't think Bill or the TacAI will let that happen. I see this armor duel as one person armed with a rapier and another armed with a sledgehammer™.
  9. That whole region going back hundreds of years has seen nothing but constant warfare and strife. They have always fallen prey to strong charismatic leaders willing to take them to a 'better' place and seem ingrained to follow groups like the Junkers. I mean Europe as bloody in general has been that way but I think in particular that whole area, Germany, Austria, Prussia etc has seen more than most so with all of that constant misery that leaves people pretty susceptible to manipulation. There are always a couple of people willing to do horrible things and the uncountable many people willing to look the other way to continue their comfortable life content to let those couple others do the dirty work. Recently for example I admit I watched the events in Greece with more than a passing interest to see how that'd pan out. Looks like they just caught themselves in time but for a while it was almost like following a history script.
  10. I look forward to seeing how the new trigger points work out but ultimately I think CMRT is going to be the point where I make a real effort to find some live opponents to play. It'll never get better than that imo or at least until they make Skynet to play against.
  11. No, fire does not spread last I heard. I can understand why seeing how fire is a complicated thing with many variables.
  12. Elvis can't afford to lose this exchange because if he does his infantry is going to have some tough sledding to do.
  13. The graphics do the job for me and I find them immersive enough that they do not detract from the gameplay. What kills the immersion for me is watching the soldiers animation/stuttering; however, overall I think the game does a great job for what it is trying to do. Like others said I can easily live with no AAA effects as long as gameplay is solid which we know it is.
  14. I'd have left my Hetzer in a good over watch position to provide support for the town and hoped it'd get off a couple shots off before effective fire is returned or target is rendered ineffective. Try and reposition and repeat. Nothing wrong with what Elvis is doing of course as it has its own advantages but imo Hetzers are meant to be used from a good concealed position and to get the drop on stuff. The darn thing can fit in a shoebox after all. Or was he moving the panther up?
  15. I don't know about this. I found an expert witness on dueling and I think my statement is pretty much in line with how it is done. It does jive with your last sentence though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJrNO-1gZCc
  16. Brave my ass lol. I can check off each box on the form for suicidal action. I wonder at what point as that SPG started rotating in his direction did he realize he had made a big boo boo. If I had been in his squad I'd have been tempted to shot him myself.
  17. Uh-oh...was that the first gauntlet thrown into someone's face for CMRT?
  18. Aww crap, it looks like the customer base for most games on Steam has shown up here. For those of you who don't frequent Steam, here is a small sample of what you can find there on a regular occurrence. 1. I don't like how the game works I DEMAND a refund! 2. If I designed a game I would do it X way so this game is broken. 3. Mods make my game crash but I am not doing anything wrong. 4. Why did they release a beta game since this feature doesn't work the way I expected...*begin RAGE--->demand refund* 5. T4!s g@m3 is 3p!c f@!l omg Im l33t!!1! 6. DLC is only made by greedy companies I'll never buy another game since it should have been included in the base game. 7. The game should be this way because I know how to write a script so therefore I know everything about this game. 8. Compare game company to how a car company does business and explain that if car business tried to do business the way this game company does it would go bankrupt. *Make sure to do this in a smug way as if you know a secret that could cause the entire gaming industry go out of business overnight. ad nauseam... think I made my point. Just go away superwoz and hang out with the other people who think they got it all figured out. Come back here when you negotiate a lasting peace over in the Middle East if you would.
  19. Yeah, a definite pucker factor in action there as that round sails in for those guys I bet.
  20. So based on all of this can we all just assume that our little pixletruppen in several weeks time are all screwed as far as knowing who is fighting for the 'good guys'?
  21. Have you ever tried to leapfrog someone backwards in RL? I have and even sober it's hard and can leave you in an awkward position. Forward is much easier.
  22. I think TRP's would have been an excellent pickup for this battle tbh. Bill from everything I have seen is a calculating opponent and you can mostly count on him going where he thinks his odds of going are going to be the best for success. This narrows down his avenues of approach which makes placing TRP's a bit less of a gamble. Of course everything in a battle like this is rife of shoulda, coulda and woulda. I cringe every time I see screenies of Elvis guys running around in Bill's thread but I applaud Elvis for his initiative in a defensive position. I generally don't have the moxie to do stuff like that.
  23. This whole map is just beautiful to look at as everything looks very realistic and natural. I look forward to making some maps with the editor @Bill Looks like you are getting the drop on a lot of his units and it is costing your opponent. This only happens when you practice good recon so good to see it paying off. Of course being lucky never hurts either.
