  1. Good times, good times. Sacrifice means something completely different to a Russian than it does to an American I think. They way they made us fight was to say it lightly...weird. Let's just say my western civilization made me spoiled.
  2. Says the guy who thinks that wooden gun in his hands is the real deal and no...I'm not talking about the one you fumble around with at the latrine. Everyone knows that you aren't allowed to hold sharp objects much less a loaded weapon old man. Between your piss poor eyesight and tremors you aren't exactly the sharpshooter type you know. Speaking of the latrine iMolestCats wanted me to remind you that if you shake it more than twice you're playing with it btw.
  3. We keep coming back around to this. 'Good' is completely subjective and based on what that person believes it to be. What is good to one person is not necessarily the same thing to the next person whether they are on the other side of the world or living in the same household. Trying to figure out whether the Russians or Germans were better ethically in their conduct during WW2 is pointless imo. You want to do that you need to frame the question very specifically as to what you mean by good or better and to narrow down the focus of who we are really discussing. I don't know if we are debating Hitler versus Stalin or just your average boot on the ground on either side. Even that would be to vague tbh since units varied wildly in conduct and orders given. Someone frame the question better and maybe we can get a more focused debate on this because we are just all over the map in this thread.
  4. I haven't played CMRT of course but I completely agree with this based on what little I do know regarding both these weapon systems. Since I love analogies the way I see it as a shotgun versus a rifle tbh. Any average person can pick up a shotgun and get some use out of it within a certain distance. Not so much with a rifle but in the right environment with someone who knows how to shot...well shotgun person is beyond screwed. They better have lots of friends willing to soak up lead or have lots of artillery and air support.
  5. Man those two guys really had a good coffee or something...they are on a tear.
  6. When I have the game in my dirty little hands and see for myself all this decal stuff firsthand I will figure out if it is gamey or not.
  7. Wasn't he around when they invented that whole 'fire' thing?
  8. It might be ineffective but it is hard to argue the end results. Therefore if it worked before why change it?
  9. Experience and training play a huge role in how quick a crew can find a target, lay on, aim and get that shot off. An experienced crew uses everything from TC down to driver who on his end helps pivot the track as needed to help get the barrel into action quicker.
  10. No really, tell him how you really feel and make sure you don't hold back!
  11. Religion...nailed it. Since we are all aboard the locked thread train may as well discuss this too Imo the one reason we can't 'fix' the Middle East is because the only people that are able to do this are busy having their version of the Reformation going on. Until they finish trying to wedge in something like a democracy isn't going to work out very well for them on a cultural and societal level. They aren't going to decide this at the polling station I think. The best thing they can hope for is something like a theocratic republic...and we all know what Iran is like
  12. Still nonetheless seeing stuff like that in game is just awesome imo. Great action last couple of turns.
  13. I'm open minded...I've just heard numerous times what you are pushing is all. I've come to my own conclusions about the world which includes sources other than what mainstream American puts out. Helps to have family overseas and all. Your viewpoints can just as easily be packaged up, labeled and sorted on a shelf. What I don't appreciate is you coming in here and muddling up what this thread was initially all about and turning it into some America is the new evil empire. I am pretty sure that wasn't the original intent of this thread.
  14. Yep, I hear you loud and clear on that. The other thing it does is introduces quite a bit of frustration on the player as he knows what he wants to have units do...but they don't. Very realistic of course but not fun when it ends up getting your guys killed or something not getting accomplished. Hello reality.
  15. People with an agenda usually do. It's that or you are taking a typical Pol Sci course somewhere in the Bay Area here in California. I find you incredible naïve for someone who claims to have so much knowledge regarding how the US does business in this 'innocent' world.
  16. I think this is where this thread is about to veer off the ole' oval race track roll multiple times and land on a couple spectators.
  17. This thread has turned into my collective thoughts thread so bear with me. I don't mind mines as long as the map is big enough that you have options to go around them or you are given the time to deal with them if you have CE's. I think mines along with the new scripting options will make for some very interesting scenarios if people chose to do them. I think Elvis has done a pretty good job given the forces he had versus what was arrayed against him. Maybe his force selection could have been better given the terrain (but remember he was restricted in some things) and maybe he could have deployed his guys different or used different tactics. I try and remember that once you are in the drivers seat that being the commander is a lot different than being the guy watching what unfolds. I think everyone in here understands that though. For the most part I think this AAR reflects very well what was happening historically and the fat lady hasn't quite yet begun to sing. Having to react to multiple threats from different directions is not good though either tactically or operationally. One of the few things that bothered me reading Bil's latest turns is his command of armor. Now this delves a bit into the whole God-commander/doctrine/how good where the Russians at this time period debate. Essentially it drives me bonkers to see several tanks coordinating so well so quickly (60s) to react to a threat. I understand that this is a game but after seeing how hard it is to do in RL with modern units it just makes me shake my head in disbelief.
  18. If I am reading the map correctly he also now has armor on two sides of him as well...definitely going to cramp him up some. Elvis is between a rock and a hard spot imho.
  19. Aww man, assumptions. They'll stab you in the back every time...oh wait no, that was a scorned women maybe? Either way, don't turn around when they have sharp things or high explosives if you aren't sure. Battlefield is really starting to get hectic now, good times.
  20. Awesome news, thanks for the update Steve.
  21. Well that's good because otherwise I might not buy it at full price.
  22. I understand where you are coming from here but that doesn't hold true so much for an inexperienced soldier. Soldiers in the field for any length of time learn quickly what is and isn't doable. How close do I need to crawl to realistically take out that T34 with a shrek from the side for example? Might not be a big deal until you realize you need to look for concealment to do it and if you don't know whereabouts to be to get that done it kind of frustrating. It's at that point I fire up google most of the time since I don't have that info memorized. Be easier if I could just click on the info panel to find the shreks info. The guy holding it back then probably knew and if no concealment was available then the attempt probably didn't happen. Me...I'd have crawled 100m across broken glass to get to that perfect spot to find out I was about 20m short to getting it done.
  23. Looks much better than the other one, more fluid. Does this effect morale on nearby troops by chance?
  24. I am pretty sure c3k covered the main topics on this already, especially the last sentence.
