  1. The last time i played through this scenario it was WEGO on veteran. The CO HQ was allways dismounted from their landrover, and on the 3rd storey of a 3 storey building. When they lost comms with the bn HQ the entire C2 panel went blank, when they were in comms the BFT was never in the C2 panel, just the radio. The more i think about this the more i keep finding strange things. When playing through the task force panther campaign, on the first mission one of the Plt HQ units lost their commander, i got the rest of the unit to give buddy aid to the commander but they didn't recover either the radio or the BFT and were out of command for the rest of the battle, and the next battle aswell
  2. Yes the radio symbol in the C2 panel dissapears for the CO HQ when the link to Bn HQ is lost. I've noticed several strange C2 behaviours with the British Forces such as Mech/Armoured Squads not taking any C2 equipment (Radio, that other fancy thing they have) with them when they dismount.
  3. Thanks for the answer Thomm. The CO HQ is the highest ranking officer on the map, i've attatched a screenshot of the blue purchase screen if that makes things clearer.
  4. Shameless bump, does no one know?
  5. Yes patriots sword has been fun to take part in, it's like no campaign i've taken part in for CMx1. I'll go check out World At War after thursday (my last ever exam ) to see if i can pick up some games : )
  6. It's not just for the visual look either. Say you're making your plan for a battle, you move your tanks forward, feck, where the hell did that forest come from? how do we get around that. If its not the actual trees themseleves there should be some indication that there are trees there like there are with the roads and trenches
  7. Are there no plans to optimise for multi core processors? After all it seems that processors arn't getting any faster really, just increasing the number of cores.
  8. Yes i meant 32m, i got confuddled lol. Thanks for the shift and click tip, it doesn't save me any time (takes about 5 minutes to add 160m) but reduces the amount of clicking i have to do. I may have to wait until i upgrade my rig to finish this one off, at 2.6k x 3k and only half of the current map filled in I still sometimes get out of graphics card memory error messages lol
  9. I believe it has been mentioned that this shall be improved if not fixed in CM:N, not sure about NATO
  10. How big is this map? I'm working (in drips and drabs) on a a new campaign, it's all going to take place on sections of a 4k x 4k master map, it's taking me forever to build it however as i made a scenario map and decided to extend it. As a result it takes about a minute to add just 8m to the edge of the map : (
  11. The 6 men that were killed in my scenario were dismounts and not in a vehicle, but on foot, and the section had been split into 2 fireteams and were 10m apart from each other, the small IED took out one fireteam completely and killed 2 men in the other fire team. I'm not saying that IEDs never cause multiple casualties in Afghanistan but 6 men in one go? I think thats pretty rare. Probably the reason for this is that the "small" IED in CMSF is probably bigger than the small IEDs that are found in Afghanistan, by the looks of the CMSF ones they appear to be 155mm arty shells, whereas the most common IED in afghanistan tends to be just explosives with various bits of shrapnel attatched, generally smaller than a 155mm arty shell. I think the main reason the casualty rate will allways be higher in CMSF than in RL is that you have no way of detecting mines/IEDs without setting them off. Having said that i'll probably still give your scenario a go but i expect the death toll to be much higher than anything seen in RL. I suppose this isn't too unreasonable seeing as after all this isn't CM:ISAF, but with a good amount of thought a decent approximation can be made : )
  12. I think this has been covered in depth before and the answer is uh, no
  13. How are you going to do the PPIED? Do it with AP mines? Personally I have designed an afghan style scenario and I decided to take out the IEDs that were along the infantry's route of advance after i playtested it and a small IED took out almost an entire section (6 men). The bunching up of men means that things such as IED's become considerably more deadly in CMSF than they would be in afghanistan, as a result if you have them in your scenario expect much higher death tolls than would be achieved in real life. Also as for OMLT units, i've been wanting to do a scenario like this for a while, with the rigid TO&E i think it's quite hard to do, might be possible to do some of the higher intensity stuff such as the stuff around (i think) Lashka Gar where there were Plt and bigger sized british forces working with the ANA, whereas some of the stuff that was going on around Musa Qaleh where you had single british soldiers virtually working as squad and platoon HQ units, integrated into the actual ANA formations (btw i might have got those locations the wrong way round, look for a book called task for helmand, i can't remember the authors name and i gave the book to my friend)
  14. I've designed a scenario which has elements of a light british infantry company. The CO HQ is on map at the start of the game and there are no assets from outside of the CO but within the battalion. During the game the CO HQ seems to randomly lose contact with the battalion and as such the rest of the CO lost contact too. My questions are as such 1. Is this supposed to happen? 2. What affect does it have on gameplay if the CO is out of contact with the battalion but there are no other assets from the battalion on map?
  15. Oh and Canada Guy, as for the replenishing MG ammo, are you sure the caliber of the ammo that is in storage and the caliber of the MG is the same?
  16. Normal Dude, while playing pigs of war in your campaign the AI surrendered before the time limit and it said there were a lot (it said about 150+) of men OK but when i looked at the map there were at maximum 20 men on the map. I hammered the AI pretty hard in that scen, does the AI sometimes surrender even if it has reinforcements due?
  17. Ok hopefully 3rd time lucky, tried submitting in IE this time just in case. If not i'm attatching a screenshot of how i filled the form in, am i doing anything wrong?
  18. Well as for the rocket graphics glitch its definitely not my graphics card as my opponent saw it too.
  19. The answer to that is, that it is. The blitz allows CMSF games to be reported on their ladder and over at The Few Good Men i believe Bootie is going to create a CMSF ladder once the auto ladder is up and running for CMx1. Also at FGM i'm taking part in a CMSF campaign. I think the main reason why not as many people play it multiplayer is that the QB system (i'm sorry there's no better word for this) sucks. But i can forgive the game that as I can still have plenty of fun playing against the AI and the scens against other human players.
  20. I just realised. In my bradley tests the gun seems to elevate a lot further than in the screenshots posted before, is this level of gun elevation correct? I have no idea what the maximum elevation is on the bradleys cannon
  21. I think mikey and slowmotion are talking about two different things here. I think SM was talking about in game (IE actuall playing a scenario) trigger points and mikey is on about trigger points in the editor. I can see much more use in putting trigger points into the AI plans than in the in game, IE at the moment its not really possible to program in a coherant mobile defence (IE fire when you see the enemy, fall back, wait until you can see the enemy, fire again, fall back etc etc). Most of what SM was asking for could probably be achieved with a few new unit orders, such as a "wait for passengers" command for vehicles.
  22. Wasn't the entire iraqi air force destroyed before any troops went over the border? Again this may be my dismal knowledge
  23. Yeah I wasn't specifically asking for it in the game, I'm quite satisfied with the CAS already provided. I must have just got confused with what steve was saying
