  1. Use Notepad++ to edit the scripts outside of the editor. Then open the editor and check the scripts for compatability. Don't use notepad. It doesn't always work and sometimes freezes while running the editor. You can get Notepad++ for free here: http://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v6.1.3.html
  2. Here is a discussion of "Operation Thunder" from another forum. http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?t=63302 and http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?p=284143 As to the death of Sikorski, I doubt there will ever be a definitive answer as to whether or not it was an accident as it is not currently in the interests of either Poland, Russia or the UK to find otherwise.
  3. Sounds like what you need to do is to reinstall the program and then apply the latest patch. This usually clears up any weird behavior.
  4. No. The editor does not open saved game files, only campaign (cgn) files. You can use the editor to change the parameters of any campaign but you must start that campaign again from the beginning for those changes to show.
  5. You can check this in the editor. Usually, probability of success is on a sliding scale. To get to level 1 might be 5%, to get to level 2 might be 4%. Probabilities of this type are usually additive so if you are at tech level zero then 2 chits would increase your probability of achieving level 1 to 9% given the previous example.
  6. I've never played Tactics II but I have played many games of Blitzkrieg and that should also be a good game to try in the SCII format (Great Blue vs Big Red). Your choices are the ones I'd make.
  7. The "PURCHASE UNITS" dialog box. It will only hold 22 entries which can be selected for unit purchase. The extra entries spill off the bottom edge and cannot be selected. This is more of an annoyance than a serious issue since it is rare to have that many minors under one major. The minors can also be configured to different "parents" to spread them out. It's just that some minors just don't feel right when attached to certain majors they had an historical emnity with.
  8. You need to identify the script controlling the effects of the British blockade on German morale for the scenario you are playing. It will be under the title of National Morale in the Events directory under Scripts. Everything you need to know is in the comment section of the National Morale file. These are all text files and can be edited in notepad although you will need to use the game editor to compile a new cgn file with the changes.
  9. Are there any specific guidelines to modifying the templates used for the dialog boxes? For instance, how can I make some of the dialog areas bigger to display more text? When building units some minor countries are no longer selectable since they have moved off the edge of the dialog box.
  10. You have to be more careful to watch out for units slipping through the "joints" between squares. Laying out a defensive line with a hex grid is more intuitive, especially for us old guys. All good things but will need multithreading to execute in a reasonable amount of time. Multiple cpu's have been with us for around 6 years now and multithreaded processors even longer.
  11. There are windows emulators which will allow you to run SC2 under linux Wine being one of them. While I do have Ubuntu 10.4 64 bit installed on my gaming PC I haven't tried running anything significant under it. In general, the Ubuntu seems more responsive than the Win7 Ultimate 64 bit also running on the same PC but I suspect the emulator will slow things down considerably. Let us know how it works out for you.
  12. Time also to reconsider multi-core support. Multi-threaded operating systems have been with us for at least 10 years now. Most gamers have at least 2 cores in their processors and SC3 would fly if they could be used.
  13. This usually happens if Italy joins the Axis but is not yet at war with the Allies. This is because Italy joins due to diplomacy/events and not due to a declaration of war. Declare war on Poland as Italy if Poland still exists. If it is already conquered then you are out of luck. This can be a bit of a problem at times but, imo, is more reflective of the real world where a power can be allied with one country but not at war yet or at war with some but not others. For instance, Bulgaria never declared war on the USSR in WWII nor did Japan, at least not until they were invaded/attacked.
  14. I would think if the CP or the Entente violated any armistice there would/should be some heavy political penalties. Foes who were still fighting would be much less likely to seek peace if they thought it would be violated at the first opportunity. This would be a black mark for either alliance, especially in those earlier times when there still some illusions on the civilized conduct of war.
  15. If you are playing from the beginning then I suspect your troops have not had enough time to rest and refit or they were sitting in an area with low to no supply. Also, if they were recently brought up to strength or have suffered high losses this too would affect unit morale.
  16. I use it too. It's a great program and totally free.
  17. This is the first time it has happened to me. Since I am playing a heavily modded scenario it might have something to do with that since this is also highly repeatable. I will see if the same thing happens in any of the standard scenarios.
  18. Some strange behavior I have noticed since updating to 1.04. When I right click on a unit to examine whether or not I want to upgrade it or add replacements; if I enter the upgrade dialogue the unit is no longer active even after exiting/canceling the upgrade with no changes to the unit. This was not how this worked in the past and is quite annoying.
  19. If you login to the battlefront site you can get the key from there. It is under "My Account" and then look for purchases. If you bought it from a retailer I would think it is in the packaging somewhere.
  20. Unfortunately it is not. The best you could do is to alter your current mod to reflect where you currently are with respect to unit position, alliances and treasury levels and start a new game from there.
  21. Probably not but you can get your opponent's permission to give it a shot.
  22. You can disable it. Should be something like: Options>Advanced>Scripts>Morale
  23. Sounds like something got corrupted in the configuration files for the units. Try importing the configurations from one of your mods where the artillery are behaving normally.
  24. This could be a scripting issue. I have seen double units appear when a surrender script activated but the wrong country ID was used. This created duplicate units in the named country. However, the units created actually functioned normally even though they had the same names and characteristics.
