  1. I've had the last two when my mod files became corrupted. Try opening your mod in the editor and resaving it or try changing the customization settings until the errors stop.
  2. You can simply edit the Loops script for that location to work for all allied units. This feature was recently added if I am not mistaken.
  3. I have made no changes to my PC of that nature. Everything else works including AOC. Just AOD does not work. Problem with opening up a help ticket is I don't believe it's staffed over the weekend which is my prime time for gaming. If it's a registry issue or a hidden file or just about anything else I am adept enough to take care of it on my end so if you could PM me with that sort of information I can take care of it on my own. Meanwhile, I will open a ticket.
  4. Anybody else get this error? License Error There was an error with your license. Please contact your vendor for assistance. Reinstalling didn't help.
  5. Thanks for the reply Hubert. The problem is not that HQ's and AA units top out at let's say tech level 3 or so but that once they have been upgraded for AA they cannot be upgraded for it again even though the upper limit has moved to let's say 4. However, a unit which has never been upgraded and was produced at the same time as the other unit can be upgraded to the max tech level. These units are the same nationality and have no restraints on them regarding upgrading. With subs it's even weirder. For instance, I can produce a sub at 1, 2, 3, or level 4 but once they are on the map they cannot be upgraded at all even if the max level is available is 5 and they were placed on the map at a tech level 2. This is not a regular scenario but a mod that was imported from Breakthrough. This may be the root of the problem as the editor let's you import things which are not exactly same in AOD as they were in Breakthrough.
  6. Several things seem to have changed in the AOC/AOD add-ons. Cavalry units cannot be upgraded by increases in motorization as they could be before. I see the logic there but I do miss being able to upgrade a few cavarly units to simulate conversion to mixed or motorized units as happened historically. Also subs cannot be upgraded beyond what they are initially built at. Again, I see the logic behind this but it does not allow for upgrades like the snorkel which greatly improved the boats survive-ability (it could recharge it's batteries while remaining submerged). There also seems to be an issue where HQ and AA units cannot be upgraded for AA once they are upgraded once. Is this intentional or a bug?
  7. Sounds like the soft build limits were not used. If I'm correct you can select this provided your opponent agrees. This allows you to build as many units as you want provided you are willing to pay a premium which increases incrementally for each unit above the limit you build.
  8. There are only 65 individual countries allowed. If you count the number which have capitals you will probably reach 65 which means the other countries cannot have them. They are depicted on the map but are not really countries...they are "neutral" neutral instead of being distinct entities.
  9. Unless you are planning a southern strategy I don't think the prolongation of the French campaign is worth it. If Vichy is created then you also get a number of useful buffer states.
  10. It can still be done, it just requires more work. When you just specify the alignment then all countries in that alignment group are affected. If you specify the alignment AND country id then only the specified countries will be affected. Whether you consider the extra work worth it or not is a design decision of course!
  11. Yes and no. You can specify the alignment and you can specify the country id. In order to make this work correctly you would have to create a separate line for each country of a certain alignment. If a country was not specified then it would be immune. Just remember to always include a country id after the alignment.
  12. Thanks for the reply Hubert. As I have had problems with bitmaps before I did change the campaign.ini file to remove all customizations. The problem still occurred. I began to suspect the problem lay somewhere in the importing process. By selectively excluding data from the import process I was able to determine the unit map was the source of the problem. Redoing the unit map seems to have solved the issue as the game file no longer crashes. Not sure why this is the case as the unit map imports as usual and there are no display issues in the editor or game file. Only when supply is calculated does the problem manifest. Apparently some of the data required for the supply routine does not import properly. Will
  13. I'm trying to port a mod from Breakthrough to the AOD expansion. The mod clears all of the hurdles in the editor but crashes with the "Failed on menu command" error when it calculates supply for the first time. This particular error must mean there is a mismatch somewhere. What does this error tell me?
  14. The editor is apparently looking for a FRIENDLY_POSITION tag even though this is not in all of the decision.txt files. It also continues to look for the ALIGNMENT_POSITION tag. These seem redundant. Explanation?
  15. Thanks for the quick reply Hubert. What would really be great is to dump this kind of information into a spreadsheet or ASCII file that can easily be edited. It would make customizing the scenarios so much easier. Several of the industrial databases I have worked with in the past had this feature which made it very simple to clone a great deal of similar entries at the same time. Maybe something to add to the wish list for SC3? Will
  16. Is there a way to edit the .DAT files created when information is exported from the editor? The reason why I ask is the game engine for AOC seems to be significantly different where the units are concerned and the editor will not import this data from previous customized scenarios. It would be great to massage the .DAT files so this data could be imported rather than having to enter it all again.
  17. Dug up my original install setup file and reinstalled SC2 GC 1.0. Now everything works. Thanks for keeping me focused!
  18. Actually, the SC2 GC was installed long before the AOC. I even updated it to the latest patch before installing the AOC so I don't think that's the issue. The base game is SC2 GC, not the Gold add-on. I only bought and installed the Gold add-on to see if it would make a difference, which it didn't. Thanks for the reply!
  19. I have valid licenses for SC2 Global Conflict and Assault On Communism but the AOC add on will not run. It keeps saying I have to have the base game (which I do). SC2 Global Conflict is up to the latest patch level and runs fine by itself. I even ended up buying the Gold Add-On and bringing that up to the latest patch level. AOC still says I need the base game even though both SC2 GC and SC2 GC Gold all run without issue. This is the first time I have ever seen an add-on which would not run if the base game was installed on the same machine. All of my copies were downloaded. I have never bought a retail version of any of the Battlefront games. I did try the hot fix just to see if that would work but it does not. All these games are installed on the same computer in the same Battlefront directory. The "base games" work just fine. All my other software and drivers are up to date. Sounds like a miserable bug of some sort. By the way, AOC installed and activated without any issues; it just refuses to acknowledge the existence of the base game. This is just plain weird. Any one else seeing this problem?
  20. Same thing happened to me. Think it's a bug.
  21. Working OK on Win 8 Pro with windows media center installed as well. Cheers from frigid New York State. ;-)
  22. It's installed in the default location and was working fine since it was installed in October. Just installed it on my Win 8 OS (on the same PC) and it's working fine again. Seems to be a Win 7 issue which did not exist before.
  23. After installing the latest Breakthrough patch (1.02) I am unable to start either the game or the editor. Instead I get the following error: "Could not find Bitmaps\activation_sprites.bmp". I checked the installation folder and the file in question is where it should be. I then re-installed the entire game and then the patch to no avail. Even when the the original game is installed without a single patch the same error occurs. The only recent change to my system was installing Win 8 Pro on another drive. My system is a dual boot system where I can chose to boot into Win 7 or Win 8. It has been this way since the Win 8 preview came out over a year ago. I am currently running the game under Win 7 and have not tried running it under Win 8 yet. Both OS are the 64 bit versions and both have windows media center installed. Any thoughts? I also tried adding the Breakthrough path to the path environment variable with no results either.
  24. Check your bitmaps also. There is one in Breakthrough which is a different size than in The Great War. This will cause issues whenever it is accessed.
