  1. It seems to me that the national morale impact of the British blockade on German morale is too high. Do others find that to be the case and if so, is there a setting where that can be modded. (Self disclosure: I have been playing these games and loving them since the original SC, but never moded anything but unit graphics). Thanks.
  2. Checked: Submitted Sept 5 Last reply Sept 11 Status on hold Resondent: Andrey My response to the Sept 11 query was not posted so I posted it again to the thread directly and changed status to open.
  3. I am an experienced war gamer with RL military background. This game is giving me fits (in addition to the random lockup problem I am having). I started with the German campaign and I am not getting past mission 1. I clear the Polish infantry in the trenches and the Polish tanks with a pretty simple turning manuver to the right. However, when ever I get the two 75s on the hill at the end of the mission I get torn to shreds. They tear through tanks and infantry with an amazing series of one shop kills. Any suggestions? Thanks.
  4. I have loved the strategic command series from Battlefront having SC1 SC2 and WaW. I bought this game and had many crashes. Tried everything in the online support section. Still random lockups. I submitted a support ticket two weeks ago along with the log file requested. I got 1 follow-up email asking if it was a lockup or CTD. I repeated that it was system lockup. A week and a half later still no word. It is sad, when I had a registration key problem with SC2 the support was awsome. I have never had a tech issue before with a Battlefront game before, but it doesn't seem that tech support is resourced at a level to really provide support to the customers who have difficulty. It will make me more cautious about choosing Battlefront products outside the SC line again.
  5. Hi all, I have been playing WaW and really enjoying it. I am getting a little burned out and I am going to order PT for some variety. I was wondering how much PDE changes the WaW formula for hte core WWII campaigns. I might get it too. I am not interested in the what if post WWII scenarios, but given how much I think WaW improved on SC2, I was thinking about about giving if try in scenarios like Fall Weiss. Any observations/suggestions on PDE relative to WaW would be welcome. Thanks.
  6. I agree, that is why I originally suggested allowing 50% of damage to be repaired immidiately with no manufacture, training, and deployment delay. The problem is that in wars equipment is destroyed and men are killed. Unless you have set up a supply of replacements it takes time to manufacture new equipment and train new soldiers. In fact, during WWII for USA forces, even with a fairly mature replacement system getting "worn" divisions back into fighting condition took a while due to the delay of integrating replacements. The above is why I think a replacement pool and/or slower rate of replacmenet would make the game more fun for me. It would be interesting to have to decide when to pull that partial strength tank army of out the line for a tfew turns to replinish or whether to push forward at reduced strength. It might not be more fun for many or most, but like the rail and road lines, I think it is a small change that could have a big impact on how the game plays and feels. For me I suspect it would be for the better.
  7. I have been looking at it and it seems to me that once you consider the cost in garrison troops for Yugoslavia you end up with a net loss for income for the most part when invading Yugolavia. Does that fit with most folks assessment? The return on Greece seems pretty small. I have been ignoring the both of them as the axis.
  8. Having continued to play and enjoy SC2 WaW, I have had a thought. The engine heavily reward keeping a unit alive even at 10% over losing it all together due to instant replacements up to 90%. It seems a little wrong to be able run XIV Panzer to 10% strength at Stalingrad and then instant 1 week 90% replacements. So here is a thought for some future version of the engine or campaign: 50% of hits are "organizational" and can be instantly replaced as in the current system. 50% of hits are "structural" representing the distruction of men and equipment Replacing this 50% requires drawing from a replacement pool (would have to manufacture replacment points in areas like armor and infantry) or can be drawn from other units. I there are no replacements available you can not achieve more than 50% repair until you create them. So I unit that took 4 hits could only be repaired to 8 strength until replacements were manufactured (1/2 or so normal manufacture time). It would be interesting to add a strategic transport cost to the replacments as well and perhaps a delay if you were off a rail line. It may be more complicated than most players would prefer, but it is an idea that intrigues me.
  9. Is is possible to lock the weather so that both players have the same weather on successive turns? I have seen some pretty bizarre series where one side gets rain 2 turns in a row while the other gets clear skies. It can really skew things and I bet would be killer in multiplayer. Hoping to try multi with my son soon (he has gotten interested in SC2). George
  10. I just played through my first campaign as the Axis versus the AI. It was fun, but the Its. were pretty useless. With the scripted UK troops in N Africa they were just over run. I sent down another army, HQ and the fighter. They have such limited production that producing a useful army for N Africa is pretty hopeless. I ended up conceding N Af. focusing in USSR and having the Italians just make garison troops. (came back and gon N. Af. after the fall of USSR). It would have been more fun to have them fight it out in N. Africa witht the Italians, but it seems hopeless. Had anyone found something useful the Italians can contribute to the Axis cause? Thanks, George
  11. I played the original SC quite a bit and really enjoyed it. I tried SC2 when it first came out and was either too burned on the game or it was too similiar and I didn't really get into it. I bought the WaW exapnsion a while back and fired it up again and I have been throughly enjoying the game again. I have completed a couple of Allied and 1 Axis campaign. Thanks. I am going to run through this one again a time or two then try your interpretation of the Pacific war. Thanks a bunch. PS Any hints on what you are working on now? I will doubtless try it when it comes out. George
  12. Bug Report: When submarines are raiding in both the Atlantic and the Med only the production loses for the submarines in the Med are subtracted from the British total. Asside: I played a fair bit when the game was relatively new (versions 1.0-1.4). I recently picked it up and started playing again. It is impressive to see the continuing development. Thank you. George
  13. The variable time scale would not be an insouable issue for a computer war game. Simple enough: identify how long it will take to produce the unit (say 1 month) examine the season and set the arrival date at the closest approximation based on the turn duration during the production period such as 4 1 week turns or 2 1 week turns + 1 2 week turns or 1 1 month turn. I am not positive it makes SC a better game, but I don't think it really complicates things and adds some depth: hum, which is better that wing of Stukas I can get in 2 months or the Crusier that wont be available for 18 months. I think it adds a little depth.
  14. I have been enjoying the game. I am curious about other peoples' thoughts on 2 issues: 1. Would it improve the game to add a delay for production of new units? Even if they are not hisotically accurate, they could add the sense that producing a Carrier takes longer than an infantry corps. 2. Does it seem odd to anyone that the USA's production is so modest compared to Germany and USSR at the point of entry? The great aresnal of democracy's production seems rather weak in the context of the game. Greater play balance might be achieved by shifting some production from USSR to USA.
  15. Regarding the Irish dilema it seems that political ramifications retain the feel and spirit of the game. Additionally, Irish partisans are plausable (IRA).
